Just kidding dude.

Anyway that is a seriously hilarious vid - rated and fave'd. Oh and I also noticed that the 'Imperial' Channel is '69', was this a conscious decision, lol?

Thanx, my man!

Making '69' the Imperial channel was a semi-conscious decision.  I wanted to have a channel 69, but using it for the dirty channel would have been too obvious.

No problemo :)

Haha I knew it! And yes it would have been obvious...

Here's a great way to start off the weekend:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VdGOjH6xng

Thanks to bendanger for some ideas from his edit!...who else am I missing?
Major changes:
-Anakin/Padme love exchange is shorter...also no kiss! save it for the end of the movie!
-the monster scenes have been trimmed and re-edited
-padme doesn't simply jump (from 20 something feet) but actually starts to climb down like a human.
-jedi arrive on geonosis
-Mace and Dooku exchange is gone! why was it there in the first place?...they are coming to save Obi-wan...not talk trash to Dooku
-Mace/Jango fight is gone!
-Jango can be seen in the background but he might best be removed entirely...

forgive the sound mix...I wasn't about to go in and add saber and blaster sounds to every shot. :D  I simply removed alot of the mids.

Comments...?

Excellent stuff - rated and fave'd  :D

I especially admire what you've done by cutting to an all new shot of the Jedi coming out of hyperspace, along with that cool shot of Mace piloting his ship. :)

will we see any more PT drops in ESB ?

A lone battle droid standing guard somewhere, a small pit droid working on ship repairs, a small spider droid doing welding work on the outside of bespin or a Hellfire droid pulling a cart of goods :p

Or some droid parts here and there?

Or perhaps back ground items from the prequels will be inserted into the ESB back ground? like paintings, lamps or statues?

I'd personally love to see one of those super battle droids (from AOTC and ROTS) broken up among the junk in the scene where Chewie finds C3PO :)

has anyone noticed that in the final shot of that scene smack bang in the bottom middle of the frame is a recoloured set piece from the Tantive IV?

Wow, I never noticed this, lol.

Thanks for pointing it out Ady :) Hope you get well soon and are taking things easy, I know what it's like sitting on a computer screen for long periods of time.

what would be cool was if ady made music videos of vaders theme/Han and Leia's theme (whichever he wanted to do) for ESB:R and of luke and leias theme/jabba's theme/ewok theme (if ewoks exist in ROTJ:R) for Rotj:r

It would, but he'll really be too busy to do that. The poor guy's trying to get some sfx done. Anyway check this MV out that I made - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce07wUVsBHU

It's an updated version of my old one (which is one of the most popular Imperial March Music Videos on the site) and it also includes clips from Adywayn's ANH:R and TESB:R (from the TESB:R Trailer).

Thanks for that link dude :D

EDIT - OMG! Yes! This is where I heard Mark talking about wanting to do the end duel differently. His Harrison Ford impression was hilarious as well. (Btw, on Part 2 - 5:33 for anyone who wants to listen to that part - but watch all of it, great episode)

I hope ady showcases the space battle and the death star battle for our main attention. All I need to see is the rebels on Endor turning off the shield generator. Then back to the important dark duel. Coz the Endor Forrest battle is a mood killer.

It really does kill the mood.... But the space battle in ROTJ is still IMHO the greatest of all the films. I'm still amazed at how well the ships maneuvered with them being models on wires. Great work.

Seriously I agree.  I mean, each ship is a separately shot element composited who knows how much time later.  It's impressive.  And to only have a couple mislayered/disappearing elements is extremely impressive.

All three layers of the battle need to be expanded in my view.

How does a small group of Rebels defeat an entire legion of the Empire's best troops to bring down the reactor to allow the Rebel fleet to survive being attacked by a large Imperial fleet and a full armed and operational Death Star?

The ground battle is only a mood breaker because it currently makes little sense and has no real visual and emotional impact.

The Luke/Vader rematch, as far as I'm concerned, is fine as is, except for the annoying swinging Luke does after screaming "NEVER!" as I mentioned before. Seriously, he looks like a blind kid trying to hit a baseball at times! At least that part of the duel could use some tweaking in editing.

I'm gonna blame GL for this - Mark Hamill actually came up with some really nice moves according to one of his interviews and he said that he and his stunt co-ordinator created the last part of the duel a lot differently -  so that Luke attacks Vader with only one hand on the blade, and Vader backs off trying to block every swipe until he is defeated. This would have been better; but Hamill was told by Harrison Ford not to argue with Lucas' decision(s) on how the duel was to play out.

One question: In this 1980 cartoon (which is based on the original script), Luke screams "NEVER!!!" when he falls from Darth Vader when he tries to get him over to the dark side. Was the SE- scream from 1997 closer to the original script than we thought?

I doubt it. That scream in the 97 SE was more of a "omg, I'm falling! This was a stupid idea!" type of scream. Not only that, but it was Palpatine's scream from ROTJ. In my opinion it was the WORST SE moment in ESB and I'm glad the 2004 DVD removed it.

Besides, "NEVER!" worked better in ROTJ.

Amen to that - besides I'm so looking forward to hearing a pissed Vader again (BRING MY SHUTTLE!)

This isn't nearly as cool as the potential for the scene can be, but it's a visual example nonetheless.

Note: Pretend the rebel in the turret seat just LOOKS like Luke....

Watched, rated and fave'd. Very good ideas going on here. I was thinking we should see some shots of other gunners being blown up in that space battle (not the ones on the mighty Falcon though), kind of like what happened to Dak (Luke's gunner) in the Battle on Hoth in TESB. Maybe include some craft that's similar to the one's seen in the opening space battle of ROTS as well, with some rebels being shot out of their craft - and let's not forget some Imperial casualties too :)

All in all; the shots of Luke firing at the TIEs is a pretty decent placeholder, and the edit does feel quite natural :)

Anyway, here's a 'quick' little video I just made that has that clip in it, as-well-as a couple of other crazy, wacky, and odd ideas. Set your faces to 'stunned'.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQm9rlbJSyI

LUKE: I saw...I saw a [Star Destroyer] in the clouds.

YODA: Mmm. Friends you have there.

LUKE: On a Star Destroyer?!

Wow, Davnes007 :) Interesting vid. That Destroyer in the clouds actually looks ominous, it creeped the hell outta me.

Vader must be on that ship....oh wait he has a bad-ass Destroyer of his own :)

Very nice video, I fave'd it btw.

Edit: Oh and sorry for playing the ROTS quoting game, rather than paying attention to TESB.

Just dreaming of what could have been... plus this thread is in the need of mockups since vaderios has exams. :D

Sweet. I wonder what the first screenplay would have been like.

I actually read the first screenplay (don't ask me how I got it).  And according to which, Luke surrenders to General Veers, who had been ordered to bring Luke to Vader's Star Destroyer.  Grand Moff Jerjerrod makes contact with the shuttle's captain and  tells Veers that Luke is to be brought before the Emperor on Had Abbadon, the capital of the Galatic Empire (which we now know as Coruscant) instead, but Veers refuses this order.  On the Star Destroyer, Luke once again confronts Vader, and Vader once again asks his son to join in.  Grand Moff Jerjerrod interupts in a furious manner at Vader for disobeying his orders to bring Luke to the Emperor.  In responce, Vader grabs Jerjerrod by the neck, chokes and kills him (very much like he did to Captain Antilles in ANH).

Then Vader was to escort Luke to Had Abbadon and bring him before the Emperor in his throne room, which was so far down in the planet that it was in a cave surrounded by lava.  Vader is being held back by two of the gaurds while the Emperor tries to seduce Luke to the Dark Side.  Obi-Wan and Yoda appear both in spirit form and threaten the Emperor with the notion that Luke's power is greater than his.  When Vader does come into scene, the Emperor orders him to destroy Luke.   Luke uses the Force to take his father's lightsaber since his was already conficated.  The Emperor gives Vader a lightsaber that he had hid up his sleeve, and the duel takes place.

In the end, Vader looses his hand either from it being burned off in lava or Luke cutting it off.  Vader begs Luke to kills him, but Luke refuses and gives his father his lightsaber back.  The Emperor again orders Vader to kill Luke, but Vader refuses and claims that he cannot bring himself to do it.  The Emperor fires Sith Lightning at Luke, who deflects it with his hand.  Each time Luke deflects the Emperor's lightning, images of Obi-Wan and Yoda appear and the exact moment of impact.  The bolts become more intense as Luke is forced to his knees, then Vader rises up and grabs the Emperor as he drags both them to their deaths by falling in lava.

Yeah, I read that too, where Had Abbadon was the name of the Imperial Capital (and yes, it was pre-Coruscant in the process of the Star Wars saga, since Timothy Zahn created the name 'Coruscant' in the 1990s in his Star Wars novels). I read this very script on Starkiller.com where they have other scripts from the other films as well. I think that bit where Yoda appears is cool, since The Emperor says: 'You?!' It would have been interesting to see that script on film.

Btw, I was thinking - can Vader's hologram do with a tiny bit of work (the one where he appears before General Veers during the Hoth ground assault)? Maybe it can be sharper; with Vader's helmet looking better, and the hologram can flicker a bit.

I'm pretty sure this is being fixed.

I'm really glad that Ady is going the non-CG way. It'll really make this edit that much more professional and will really assimilate it into the look and feel of the original ESB.

Can't wait for the Behind the Scenes clips! Oh, and the May 2010 [tentative] deadline isn't so bad.

Ady, I've got a question for you:

I know you're never returning to ANH:R, but if you were to (re)make this fanedit now, after gaining the experience you've gotten after finishing ANH:R and working on ESB:R, would you do anything differently (in terms of the Revisited changes)?

yeh, thats being fixed

I will never be returning to any of the revisited edits once they are finished. There is a high possibility that once all 6 movies are finished i will never watch the Star Wars saga movies ever again. The only thing i would change in ANH:R is the torture droid needle. it really didn't turn out the way i wanted it to. Apart from that i'm happy with what i was able to do

Thanks Ady :)

You did a remarkable job with ANH:R btw, I even thought the electric needle was brilliant.
