Well you don't answer those any quicker! Originally posted by: ChainsawAsh
On another note, and this may have been covered several times in the past, what exactly is Laserman doing with his set that differentiates it from others?
Making it perfect? Though I believe he's using "just" the DE LD's, and no Faces.

My tapes of the originals have been damaged for years. Watching them is miserable. Even on Hoth all that white sucks.
Someone donate him bootlegs, PLEASE.

The Indiana Jones DVD includes a digital fix of the glass reflection between Ford and the snake. However the DVD documentary shows that show remastered with Fords reflection.

THAT'S THE SORT OF CHANGE THESE SPECIAL ADDITIONS SHOULD BE ABOUT, FIXING DODGY EFFECTS SHOTS, NOT REPLACING THEM WITH MORE DODGY EFFECTS SHOTS.
No, that is tampering with the original material, and I do not accept it.

It's your release, if you can do good menus (and it looks like you indeed can), go for gold son. Sure leave that in the X-VIDs, then at least people have a way of knowing the DVD-R is the original treatment. I wouldn't put the THX logo in, I'd put the LaserDisc logo in instead, it's more of a homage especially since you're not mastering from a digital source (yeah I know the audio's digital). You can put your name in the menus all you want, but I don't think that's the thing people are going to look at and say "wow, it was made by MeBeJedi" - especially if they don't know of the origins and it's just getting passed around, it's just a name to them that will be pretty meaningless. Everyone else already knows where it came from. And like I said before, you've taken the next step on the ladder - you weren't the first and so you built of what other's had done - you learnt from others (and it looks like you've done a bloody good job). Anyhow, good luck finishing the job.

It doesn't really matter Rik, he can just spread the VIDEO_TS folder over two DVD-R's. They look very promising indeed just on DVD-R, so I'm sure they'll look brilliant on DVD9. I do hope MeBeJedi does not put "directed by MEBEJEDI" in it though, this is about preserving the O-OT, not poaching and branding. Also, MeBeJedi, as much as your version will probably be the best so-far, I think you should recognize that you've learnt from what others have done - their trial and errors, their advice from experience, their attempts - and what you've done is taken the next step. So claiming these to be "your versions" is about as sane as lucas claiming the 2004 are "his versions" when he's taken the work from so many people before him and just added (or subtracted) to it.

Therefore it would be a good idea not to put your brand even in the menus. However it's up to you - I'm just saying if it was me, I wouldn't put my name or title in it anywhere.

Kris why don't you just ask him to make you a Dual-Layer version and start pressing that, I'm sure it's better than anything coming your way anyway?

MEBEJEDI, I have some comments. For the menus why not use the original logos? That means the Star on top of Wars logo:

Slanted Empire Strikes Back logo:

And Return of the Jedi like this:

An article of lies and disgust - George Lucas talks re the 2004 OT SE DVD release...
Time
That's been edited. Quote the Lucas "we wanted to make the movies more open, as well as make Luke's scream sound more agonizing. So we decided on a few minor changes... some of the dialogue has been altered, but for the most part it's the same."

"Obiwan never told you what happened to your father?"

"He told me enough! He told me you killed him!"

"No Luke, I was his lover!"

"NO! NO!! that's not true!! That's impossible!!"

"Search your feelings; you know it to be true!"

"NO!! NO!!!!!!"

...

ROTJ:

....

"Why didn't you tell me? You told me Vader betrayed and murdered my father."

"Your father was seduced by the Dark Side. When that happened, the good man who was your father was destroyed. So what I told you was true, from a certain point of view."

Oh, and I get new Australian DVDs online from Video Ezy DVD (not to be confused with EzyDVD), which give free nationwide postage on all their orders. Their price for the boxset Is very good - especially when you consider that includes postage pre-ordered or not. They're also using a more legitimate image, of the Australian box (note that the box says The Office of Film & Literature Classification has not yet classified the DVDs; they have been now and are classified PG). Of course I'm not going to buy THAT DVD, but anyone else looking to get the cheapest price on it in Australia anyway - there it is.

"Lucas is too smart for that" is what an Ezy DVD manager told me a week or so ago whilst yarning with me. Not only is it a limited release, it's been distributed in limited runs. A limited run means Ezy DVD was only allowed to buy a certain number of boxsets. I think I was told about 10,000. Obviously they'll be allowed to get more before Dec so long as they're allocated another quota.
