Shut up Jimbo you stupid idiot. I suppose you'd prefer the un-matted version of The Princess Bride too?

Editing the '2oo4 Editions' - which changes would you revert?

Rubbish. If that was the case then the interaction between the two would be absolutly minimal, and putting the creature behind han would be impossible. Not to mention that in 1977 you did not crop your film for presentation, so there would be no long shots with shaddows. Study the stop-motion animation used in Robocop 2 and Terminator 1.

Ben died helping his freinds out in the Death Star, knowing he had foung the 'new hope'. Thats the only reason he spent all his life on Tatooine. His mission is complete. He's done his bit. He's redeemed himself for Vader.
Yoda, simular in the way that the 'new hope' has made his way to Dagobah, with Yoda waiting all this time for Luke. Knowing that Luke is the only real way this shit will all end.
Then Anakin. Who died twice in a way. As old Anakin, he died happy. It was finished. They had won. With the help of his son, who up untill recently he thoght dead(Maybe? - 3) had saved him. Killed that soab Palpatine and restored freedom to the Galaxie. But he also died once before. Was mureded by Darth Vader. When Anakin seeced(sp?) to exist.

So why I say this change does actually make more sense is this, if you watch then in order 1- 6, is:
As gohst's we get to choose how we look. For Ani to look like his younger self is as simple as this. Thats how everybody apart from Luke, knew him when he was good. The duel we'll see in 3, thats the last time Anakin Skywalker was seen. From then on he becomes Datrh Vader.
Only when Luke saved him, all he saw was this tired, sad looking old man.
So when Ani becomes a ghost, he chooses to look like the person they all knew and loved when he was still Anakin and not Vader.
Luke must know this too, so thats why he's smiling. He knows that he's done his bit too.........
Oh look, more rubbish. I don't know about you, but yeah I can think about how happy I was when I was 6, 10 or 17 but then I don't want to go back there. I have developed as a person, grown and become more than I ever was before. It is clear that in Ep 2 Anakin is already hate filled. So while he may have techinically been happiest at that time, we would find that he was actually not the best he ever was. That is at the end, when Anakin shows sorrow for his past. And it is impossible that he would ever be at his happiest then, but would he want to go back to the way he was? NO.

You are an idiot. Firstly, the Jaba scene might have originally been an intentional part of the film - but it was intended that Jaba was a human. It was shot, but never intended for use. Lucarse just wanted to put in something new. And no it is not stealing, it is a breach of copyright - I think you have to look back into your law books.

I've never even HEARD of a DVD player sold anywhere in Europe that wouldn't play NTSC discs flawlessly, and I'll bet the situation in Australia is the same.
You are completely right, every DVD player ever sold here in Australia is NTSC compatible. Further most will even do "PAL-60". Every TV sold within the past 8 years (maybe more) should be NTSC compatible, and TV's older still - like 15 years are usually PAL-60 compatible. Every DVD player sold today in Australia is also either Region-Free or has a feature to change the region.

PAL is a better system than NTSC. However as to wether the laserdiscs are better I don't know. I would imagine that they are probably just a cheap NTSC-2-PAL job. If you were to today split the 30 NTSC frames back into their original 24 frames, and then encode them into PAL (with a 4% speedup and interpolating extra lines of resolution) you would have a better quality presentation than the original NTSC - but not by much. The interpolation would be better to cope with than the problem of the 2-3 pulldown.

The Original Trilogy - Laser Disc Conversion Thread

Hal, that completely defeats the purpose of having the ORIGINAL trilogy. If you were going to go for the Original Trilogy in its entirety then I think you'll find that such a feat wouldn't be worth it. You underestimate how many scenes have been altered. All the fades were re-done for the SE for a start. Digitally colouring R2's panels in the space shots in ESB... you'd find it near impossible a task.

OT Faces DVD covers

Not that many have gone dead. I had to remove the anamorphic faces versions to host the TR-47 ones. I'm only allowed 25M space, and I don't know how much bandwidth... I'll check... 1GB! Well that's okay I've only gone through 979.23M.... this is just from 7 days of this forum... well expect my links to go offline shortly then!

Star Wars DVD Covers

I was under the impression you were meant to be on a break Rik... And besides, you sent me CD of covers in the first place. Doesn't bother me none, except my webspace is limited to 25M! Liteoni your best bet is to still save it in JPEG format because it's already gone through lossy compression to get to it's state, so you may as well sacrifice more quality since you aren't gaining anything by not. If people want it the same quality as the original JPEG they can do it themselves.

They aren't done in adobe photoshop. In fact I made the text using a white background, and just darkened it to make it look like it was blending into the pic (darkened it's blend that is, the text remains the same colour), of course it doesn't at all (except for a few pixels which I decided needed to blend). So what I've done for you is provided the original text. I also included a text file with all the scene indexes in it in case anyone wants to use it and doesn't want to have to manually type out every scene name.

TR47 Faces: SW ESB ROTJ

White Insert Text for SW
Complete Insert Text for SW trilogy

The anamorphic Faces are now offline. Not that it really matters since there's a 404 page that's just as nice now. I've also restricted access (ie hotlinking from other sites won't work) in case anyone was thinking of hotlinking...

PAL DVD bootleg of Definitive Edition Laserdisc!
Time
I think everyone would agree that PAL is a better system, after all it is possible on computers to play it at 24fps (and I assume this will be made avialable to future DVD Players/TVs) meaning every frame-for-frame of the video is identical to the theatrical presentation. Maybe. It could have just been a shoddy NTSC - 2 - PAL job. Even the most perfect NTSC2PAL tranfers still leave inferior quality PAL. Some movies, eg Aliens were actually shot in 25fps anyway meaning the PAL version is not only frame-for-frame correct, but also correct speed-wise. Someone would have to investigate if the quality of the PAL laserdiscs are superior to the NTSC ones. In terms of audio it would be the same. But you may as well just rip TR-47's audio job and use it with your transfer.

Hal, yours were the only set of chapter names I had, lol. Why should I go through all the chapters and come up with names myself? I did change some of them, but most are exactly the same. The screen-shots were taken from TR-47's DVDs, so they're not the greatest of quality - but acceptable for printing at 300dpi. I'll upload the chapter inserts at a later time. Oojason, the covers are intended to be generic. And Liteoni... I don't know... that's why I got rid of it, and fixed the problem of the empty "d" in the LucasFilm Ltd logo above.

Hi guys, here's a modified version of cerbero's set with the posters on the covers, I've replaced the back of each cover with another poster, the original logo and fixed all the symbols as to make it correct and generic (for instance the supplemental disc is 1.33:1, and it is not Prologic II). It should be noted that I did not recompress the spine or front cover. Here are the example changes:

Enjoy sw_set.zip

I'll post back later with chapter inserts for TR47's set.
