Here is my finished njvc ten-disc set. I used JMoomer’s Criterion-style covers (with an additional fourth cover I made for my Trilogy Documentaries bonus disc). The box was custom made. The flyer has information about all ten discs.

I’ve only seen the prequels once each, and I wish I hadn’t. I wish I could erase my memory of those films because they ruin certain parts of Star Wars for me.
Why? The OT existed for a long time before the prequels ever came out. The films resonated with people and they filled in the blanks with their own ideas, whatever impression was left upon them.
Obi-Wan told us that Anakin was the best pilot in the galaxy, a cunning warrior, and a good friend. Especially considering the way the OT was told through Luke’s perspective and his relationship with his dad, I always envisioned Anakin as being a mature, father-like figure, and a powerful and trusted Jedi, just like Obi-Wan and Yoda had described. Do the prequels prevent anyone from continuing to view Anakin in that light? Not for me. I could care less. Anakin will always be exactly as he was implied in the OT, not more, and not less.
I just wish that those blanks were left as blanks. I envisioned Anakin like you described, and in my opinion, that description does not fit the prequel Anakin the slightest bit. The prequels didn’t match up with the ideas and interpretations I had in my head, and that was just disappointing. I guess I just need to replace the prequels with the ideas I had in my head beforehand.
Totally off topic (I like both of your color corrections), but is that a boom mic (and presumably camera equipment) in the reflection on 3PO’s head? Never noticed before.

Whenever I hear “Anakin Skywalker,” I don’t want to think about the annoying prequel Anakin, I want to think about the OT Anakin. I don’t plan on watching them ever again, and I can’t recommend anyone else watch them at all.
I think that the Alderaan explosion was the one most in need of an update, but the one they gave it did little to make it better. If it was just the larger explosion it would have been fine, but they gave it the praxis shockwave, which just made it look dumb.
I think it would’ve been a better idea to only add the shockwave effect to the Death Star explosion, making it more epic compared to the Alderaan explosion. Save the gimmick for the grand finale.

I noticed that the matte painting and/or set seems to be altered even more. Here’s a comparison between Despecialized and Grindhouse (gamma boosted so you can see it better). Take a look at the support beams and walls on the sides. Also the lines surrounding the holes in the floor look brighter in Despecialized (not sure if that was changed or not).

LPP stands for Lowfade Positive Print. It’s Eastman/Kodak film stock.

One thing I noticed:
The subtitles for “I will not give up my favorite decoration” and “I like Captain Solo where he is” look different than the others. To me it looks like Ziggy’s edit was used there for some reason. Was that intentional?
Also, special edition audio that would be inappropriate for the Despecialized edition have to be removed and replaced with the Despecialized audio, like Luke’s scream as he falls down the Bespin reactor shaft in the SE cut (what I hear among the OT community, that is a pet peeve).
Luke’s scream is only present in the '97 special edition, as far as I know.

Right now ESB v2.5 is in the works. After that, the next releases will be version 3.0 for all 3 films, in 1080p I believe.
Hey I’m trying to get my hands on a fan edit or the laser disc rip of muppets christmas carol for the family so if I could please get access to wherever it would be stored i’d be very grateful thankyou.
There are laserdisc rips of the Muppet Christmas Carol on the spleen. Also there’s a good fanedit of Emmet Otter on there that puts in missing scenes (including scenes of Kermit the Frog that were cut from most releases after Disney bought the Muppets). If you need more info shoot me a PM.

Yea I noticed the lucsfilm logo and no 20th century fox logo, strangely I noticed a lot of pixelization during action scenes, btw are they cropped more than the blu rays and other digital releases ?
Star Wars still has the 20th Century Fox logo on all releases. The pixelation is probably just due to compression. The Blu-rays and digital releases are not cropped, they are at the original aspect ratio. They crop them only for TV.
