Regarding the “V2 Disney’s Song Of The South [35mm Restoration]” of SOTS on myspeen, has anyone noticed that the audio is a little desynched? It uses 35mm footage with audio from the BBC HD broadcast.

Is this helpful to anyone, possibly to restore censored footage?
My spleen already has a version up that restores the footage. It basically inserts it into the 2000 DVD.
Only problem is no Deems Taylor in that version
I don’t know myself, but I’m certainly interested in finding out. So far my searches of sources have turned up nothing.

I’ve never seen one. I’ve just seen DVD rips.
I do have the laserdisc myself but no equipment or knowledge to copy it. I found a place that would do it for $50 perhaps if people chip in we can make it happen?
Personally I could care less about the CGI. IMO a cut that restores the laserdisc using best possible material would be the “ultimate” edition.

Probably because I was going off of the ‘movie censorship’ website changelist, which really only mentions the text color. I think I adjusted the rest of the color as well, but I don’t recall perfectly well, honestly. There was definitely not a high quality looking source for the end sequence, at the time.
The edit is a relatively rough (but still decent, and still time consuming to make) attempt. So there are tons of imperfections. Thanks for taking a look, though. I think you’re the first person on OT besides myself to mention it. The main reason for it is indeed simply to have a film that lacks the barfy CGI moments, while having the bulk of it intact as decent quality video.
I agree it’s pretty good overall.
Here is how I think it can be improved though. First off as I mentioned the ending. Honestly if you don’t know a bird is supposed to fly through the screen I don’t think it’s even noticeable on the blu ray ending. And that’s just one issue with that ending. So if you take the ending on this version: THX 1138 - Japanese LD preservation and replace it you already improved the 1971 theatrical release.
Then perhaps take that new version (with ending replaced) and make the minor edits required to restore the 1978 “George Lucas” release.
There is a VHS of it here which looks like what they would play at Blockbuster or something

As stated, similar yes. But not exactly.
Also, this restoration seems to take the ending from the blu ray which is an eyesore. The laserdisc ending is MUCH better. You can hardly see the bird flying by in the blu ray ending.
I am still looking for this. Anyone? Looking for the original that was generated via the European short and original audio. It’s not on myspleen (that I could find)

Thanks to AMPS, poita, and AntcuFaalb for the wonderful release of the THX-1138 1971 theatrical 16mm scan.
This is a 720p reconstruction of the color film based on that scan of the, as far as we know, original version of the film. It is synced essentially frame by frame to the scan, with minor accommodations made once or twice.
This reconstruction (which is not despecialized, but unspecalized as to not mislead people into expecting Harmy level quality here) contains the 16mm audio track. Video is sourced from the Blu-ray and from csd79’s wonderful cleanup of the LD. With some pestering for advice from DrDre on the OT forums, I’ve used the Infognition SR plugin to upscale the LD to 720p. It looks decent at times, but there are a few shots that still stand out quite a bit. The upgrade is no where near what his SW script does. The Blu-ray color timing has been adjusted in different ways to try to better mesh sources as it is strongly tinted blue at times. Thanks to age, who produced LUTs for adjusting the Star Wars Blu-ray color timing. In some dark and blue scenes from this film, they work as well.

Now I obtained this version on myspeen based off the 2000 DVD:
This was my attempt some years back at restoring the cut shots of Sunflower to Fantasia. The dual-layer DVD result as seen here incorporates those shots into the main film as taken from the original late-2000 DVD release. Full chapters, menus, bonus features, two audio commentaries and the end credits that were added for the earlier Laserdisc release are all included here. The main elements of the film – the audio tracks and 99% of the video were – if I’m recalling my work on this correctly – NOT REENCODED OR COMPRESSED in any way shape or form… thus the dual layer nature of the beast. Fantasia is one of my favorite films of all time and I wanted to keep the quality as high as possible to provide myself with something I could watch on a regular basis without being pissed off at the censorship.
The guy did an awesome job on this release overall. No idea why the 2010 blu ray wasn’t used instead but I’ll take it. Only thing is he did not restore the original voice of Deems where available.

Ok, this is a theater edition Luke Skywalker that I got from ebay a few years ago.
As you can see, all of a sudden the bubble is off the card
I have no idea how that happened. But I want to glue it back so it’s not noticeable (nothing is torn so it IS possible).
Any recommendations what glue I should use and how to do it? Help!
