I had suspected there was something a little too far-fetched about Carrie Fisher stepping on that guy’s head! Never occurred to me that it could just be a rumour!
It is pandering but it’s pretty harmless so cutting it seems pretty extreme and a little yikes.
I’m still mad that Finn and Poe didn’t end up smooching at the end.

I have a specific memory of a scene in ROTJ where Salacious Crumb is chewing on Jabba’s tail and bites a chunk out of it. I know, sounds awful, I have no idea why I remember this, seeing that it never happened but I always thought as a kid that he started eating Jabba!
After SilverWook replied by suggesting it could be because there is a shot of Crumb looking at Jabba’s tail eagerly that my imagination formed a scenario where he actually bites it!
It got me seriously thinking, has anybody noticed the small detail of the scar in Jabba’s tail, could that be another factor that created this false memory?

There appears to be two conflicting stories regarding the split in Jabba’s tail.
The first one is listed on IMDb;
Whilst clambering over Jabba the Hutt, one of the high heels that Carrie Fisher was wearing accidentally punctured the latex casing and pierced Mike Edmonds who was operating the tail inside.
Although sounds like an interesting anecdote, the filming sequence is wrong (Jabba’s death scene was filmed last due to the danger of damaging his latex outer casing). On top of that, there’s no attribution for the quote, the injured section would be far higher and most tellingly this factoid isn’t mentioned in any of the countless interviews given by the other Jabba operators.
The second (and more plausible and mundane) explanation is that the scar makeup simply covers a join line.
As you can see from this video, Jabba had two different tails, one which was mechanically articulated and one which was operated using a simple string pulley. The split occurs precisely where you see the scar.
John Coppinger, Animatronics Engineer for Return of the Jedi described it thusly:
“Once Jabba was finished and tested in the workshop we had to plan how to move and install him onto the moving throne base on set. This was quite high up on a rostrum. He also had to be dismantled and moved to the bedchamber set and later to the sail barge set. For both of those we fitted a simpler internal tail volume, made of segments of foam polystyrene that could curl up tighter than the cable version. This simpler tail was flickered and thrashed (when he died) with fishing line strung from poles (i.e. a giant string puppet)”
Maybe because there’s a shot of Crumb looking at Jabba’s twitching tail like he’s going to bite it?

You’ve probably all noticed this, but Jabba’s tail has a bloody cut at the end of it, I believe this is what prompted 6 year old me to imagine how it got there:

Since I loved the Muppets before I knew what Star Wars was, I thought that Yoda was straight out of the Muppet show since my mum had told me he was voiced by the same guy as Fozzie Bear.
I thought that when Zev Senesca (Rogue 2) was shot down by an AT-AT, it was actually Wedge and he had just died, so I had no idea how Wedge was alive in ROTJ!

I would say option A, I just think that the jump to lightspeed should be faster, happening more in a instant.
Yeah, for some reason there’s a bit less power in the jump to hyperspace than I was expecting. I don’t know how to describe it other than that.

Heroes leave Pasaana
Falcon is towed to the Destroyer. Leads into Palpatine and Kylo’s conversation about what kind of game he’s playing and he better watch out, buster.
Heroes regroup on the ship and decide fuck Threepio. They land on Kijimi and meet Frick and decide to do the surgery.
Hux sarcastically asks if Kylo wants them to destroy the city and gets a stern pointing to.
3PO and heroes continue on, Rey senses Chewie is alive, and 3PO wakes back up.
Blast doors open to reveal Chewie. Hux comments, Pryde sends Chewie off.
Kylo heads down to the planet. Things play out from there.
Except that after the heroes leave the Destroyer and Rey has a conversation with Finn about wanting to destroy Palpatine, we go directly to their arrival on Endor/Craft Beer.

pw: faneditI made the falcon bigger, engines stronger, adjusted light speed jump direction, and smoothed the path a bit. There’s also a few other small enhancements, such as light wrapping as the falcon crosses the sun at snooker’s suggestion, and applying the general camera shake of the shot to the ship so it’s better integrated!
I also will be posting a version of snooker’s soon. He rendered out the falcon as a separate element for me to comp in, so we will have options!

I think when you have the final film in a saga (full of already existing planets) consist of almost entirely made-up planets, most people would prefer a couple revisits. 😉
