Arrested Development Season 5 Part 1.

Man, I dunno what to think. Releasing it in two parts was probably a mistake. They have no idea what to do with Tobias anymore, Lindsey’s near-complete absence is felt very strongly, and the difficulties of getting all the actors together at the same time still hurts the show, since the characters play so much better when they’re all together to bounce off one another. And there’s a slight overreliance on callback jokes that didn’t really work for me.

But Michael feels like Michael again now that he’s trying to keep everyone together once more and not spending a whole season trying to avoid the family and do his own thing, and after an awkward detour, the George Michael and Maeby storyline was a highlight of the (half) season. I also pretty thoroughly enjoyed Buster in prison and the continued evolution of his missing hand.

GOB was a bit of a letdown this time around, but I think that was due to pairing him with George most of the time, who for some reason (unrelated to the Tambor controversy) didn’t work too well for me either.

I’ll have to reserve judgment on the season until the back half is released, but as it stands, it’s marginally better than season 4, but still pales in comparison to seasons 1 and 2.

Current AD rankings for me:

  1. Season 2
  2. Season 1
  3. Season 3
  4. Season 5A
  5. Season 4 Remix
  6. Season 4 Original

This is a 1977 theatrical preservation. It’s not 4k81 or 4k97 or any other revisionist versions.
Why not both? It’s just the crawl. I like options.

Because it’s time taken away from 4k80 and 4k83, and perhaps other original preservations.

It really isn’t, because the 1981 crawl is already scanned.

Don’t know why you’re so full of vitriol at the mere suggestion that some would like the 1981 crawl preserved as well. It’s not like it’s going to affect you in any way if you don’t want it.

Are there any alt covers for the Hal9000 edits of the prequel trilogy? Looking to get cases to stick my dvd copies in. Sorry if this is not the place to ask.

I’ve got some BR sized covers for them somewhere. Gimme a bit and I’ll try to find a link.

EDIT: Here are my “theatrical spine logo” ones.

And here are my “saga spine logo” ones.

Star Wars I - VIII Matching DVD covers?
Time

Part of the issue is that many “complete” sets were made a while ago by members that may no longer be active, so they’re not getting updated as new movies come out.

Also, bear in mind that BR covers have different dimensions than DVD covers, so just swapping out the logo means your cover will be too short and maybe also too narrow(?) for a DVD case.

any chance of someone making an “a new hope” crawl for this?

I doubt it, if they did it would no longer be a theatrical preservation.

Except that the revised crawl first appeared in theaters in 1981, so it’s still a theatrical preservation. A 1080p scan of the 1981 crawl does exist, and the 1977 crawl in 4K77 is an upscale from 1080p itself, so the 1981 crawl would just need some extra cleanup and color balancing to fit.

I don’t see why it shouldn’t be an option, especially since the 1981 version is not represented on DVD or Blu-ray (the SE crawl is a 1997 recomp that uses the 1977 starfield). So it’s still restoring something we don’t already have in proper quality.

The same way you would with people you know, minus sharing intimate details about yourself.

Yeah, but that’s automatic. I don’t know how I do that either.

Yep, this. Yet here I am…

Now that we have 4k77, with reel-level correction, isn’t this all moot?

Eh, yes and no. There’s variation between prints, and as an IB Technicolor print, it has a unique green shift of its own. Plus it seems like Ronster is trying to recreate a particular home video look he remembers, which is an entirely different issue from original print colors.

Update via Facebook a couple of days ago:

"
Sorry for the lack of any updates. April/ May is always a busy time for me. Start of some good weather and loads of work to do outside and on the house. Family birthdays and everything that goes with that. So i never usually can manage to do much work on projects.

Saying that, i haven’t fully pushed Revisited to one side. I’ve still been working on ANH grading. That is now about 95% complete. Lots of planning for the pilot shoot also. Work has commenced on the sculpting for the pilots helmets and the chest piece. The red overalls are all completed, so the costumes are coming along nicely. Then it’s onto building the cockpit, which will be happening next month.

And i see Facebook have changed their settings for groups yet again. Seems now that many will only see highlights of any updates here in their newsfeeds and not every post. So, if you want to keep up with everything thats about to be happening, then make sure you have your settings set up to see all posts, not highlights , for this page.

So June is when everything will be getting back to normal…

You should finish with what you want to do for ANH:RHD before you move on to ROTJ:R.

He should do what he thinks is best for his own project.
