NBC had a couple of great “Must See TV” Thursday lineups.

The Cosby Show / Family Ties / Cheers / Night Court
Mad About You / Wings / Seinfeld / Frasier

Friends / Seinfeld was hard to beat but there were never good shows in the other two slots.

You’re forgetting The Office / Parks and Recreation / 30 Rock / Community. Best comedy lineup of the last decade.

They still have the best comedy line up on network TV right now (though that’s a very low bar) because of The Good Place and Superstore.

They’ll be adding Brooklyn Nine Nine to that lineup soon! Haven’t seen Superstore though, how is it?

I haven’t sat down and watched a solid two hour block of shows in a long time. I like those first three shows a lot but all through Netflix. I’ve never seen an episode of Community.

Oh man, do yourself a favor and check out Community. It’s on Hulu currently.

The first three seasons are gold, season 4 (when the showrunner got fired) is generally considered poor but isn’t that awful, and seasons 5 and 6 (when the showrunner was rehired and then when the show moved from NBC to Yahoo Screen) are divisive for some, but I liked them a lot.

I think it would be better to create a “theatrical CGI Yoda” cut using Blu-Ray footage for everything except what’s necessary to revert the original editing here and there, otherwise you’ll have a big gap in visual appearance between the CGI Yoda shots and everything else. It probably wouldn’t be that hard of a project to tackle, though I imagine you’d want to start with a color corrected and regrained version of the BR just because, well, why wouldn’t you?

I like your prequel logos, especially TPM. I was never entirely satisfied with how mine came out. And your take on the “middle” of the AOTC logo is interesting.

Thanks! Ive been tinkering with them for a while now. AOTC certainly still needs some work, if you have any suggestions I’m all ears.

I just recreated the official one that was only used rarely on some toys. It’s on my BR cover:

Yes, we have the DTS discs. No they do not have the “to be angry…” scene.

I have no knowledge of how the audio was presented/processed in the DLP presentations of that time. They might have used the DTS discs, or possibly some other method.

Thanks for the confirmation. Yeah, it seems 99% certain that the line was a DVD addition and very likely that the DLP version had its own audio track rather than using the 35mm DTS, but I’m still very curious to get something concrete from the DLP version.

Hi NSP,

Thank you for your message. I’m not sure that I understand the purpose of your suggestion. What would be the interest of a theatrical Ep1 with CGI Yoda, vs. the official Blu-Ray release (that stars already a CGI Yoda)? Do you mean that you want to see the original cut (with a shorter podrace, no air taxi sequence and so on), but with CGI Yoda instead of CPY?

I believe that’s what he means. It’s something I’d be interested in myself as well, but would certainly not fit as a “preservation” in any sense, so it’s kind of irrelevant for this project.

No, Blu-Ray subtitles are basically image files, so any attempt to convert them from PGS to SRT is going to have errors that will need to be corrected, as it’s software trying to turn a picture into text. You’re probably better off finding SRT subtitles on the web somewhere, where someone else has already done the conversion and corrections.

Stepping in to mention that the Protestant church I grew up in (Episcopalian), we absolutely had the Eucharist every service. Hell, the only differences I ever noticed between my church and my uncle’s Catholic church was the extra bit at the end of the Lord’s Prayer, deemphasis of confession, and the ability of priests to marry and have children. Everything else seemed pretty much identical.

Ok, I am going to re-word this to make crystal clear what I meant here.

Tell me, if someone were to say to you that 1 + 1 does not equal 2, would you waste time trying to convince the guy that he was wrong?

I don’t even know how to respond to this. 1+1=2 is an empirical fact. “Immigration is a problem” and “abortion is a problem” are not empirical facts, they’re opinions.

Aaaactually, you cannot orove prove that 1+1=2. It is an axiom. And 1+1 isn’t always 2, in binary it’s 10.

I don’t know how to respond to this either, or what an axiom is.

If I have one of a thing, and I take another one of that thing and put them together, I now have two of that thing. 1+1=2.

I think I’m starting to understand how Warbler feels sometimes because I don’t understand what the fuck binary has to do with anything either.

Was just thinking, and I may have asked this before but never got an answer - don’t we have the theatrical DTS for AOTC? Is it for the 35mm version or the digital version? If it’s for the latter, that would tell us beyond a shadow of a doubt if the “to be angry is to be human” bit is from the theatrical cut or a DVD addition.
