Unproduced Screenplays: ones you've read or plan to read
Time

The 2014 draft of The Dark Tower is still very flawed, but much, much better than the final film even while using the same plot structure, and actually could have been followed by a few sequels that adapt the book series relatively faithfully starting with book 2. It just needed another pass to pare down Roland’s dialogue to the bare minimum and tame some of the fish out of water B.S. in New York.

The film we got was a travesty that did away with it being the first part of a story in favor of trying to give the movie a more upbeat ending without being married to anything from the later books in a theoretical sequel, crippled Roland’s character, and catered to every lowest common denominator checklist the studio could come up with.

I haven’t sat down and watched a solid two hour block of shows in a long time. I like those first three shows a lot but all through Netflix. I’ve never seen an episode of Community.

Oh man, do yourself a favor and check out Community. It’s on Hulu currently.

The first three seasons are gold, season 4 (when the showrunner got fired) is generally considered poor but isn’t that awful, and seasons 5 and 6 (when the showrunner was rehired and then when the show moved from NBC to Yahoo Screen) are divisive for some, but I liked them a lot.

How’d that happen? Why was he fired, then rehired?

Fired because he’s kind of an asshole, had multiple conflicts with Chevy Chase, and has problems with deadlines to the point where episodes were regularly being filmed without 100% completed scripts. (Any Rick and Morty fan will understand Dan Harmon’s problems getting shit written in a timely manner, and Community was a broadcast network show, not cable.)

Rehired because on the whole he’s a great writer and the show was more personal than I think most people realized at the time and suffered quite a bit from his absence (it’s been said that there wasn’t a single page of any script by any writer on the show written while he was in charge that he didn’t personally revise). More importantly, the fans heavily campaigned for his return, some of the cast (Joel McHale in particular) threatened to walk if he wasn’t brought back, and Chevy Chase had already decided to leave anyway before anyone seriously considered bringing Dan back.

A lot of that is a simplification, but it’s the gist of it.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Note that you’ll have to choose which audio track(s) to include, as well as subtitles if you include them, for it to be BR compatible, which will also save on space. Just uncheck the ones you don’t want before you hit the button to let tsmuxer do its thing.

I may be misremembering about the number of audio tracks allowed and the number included in the MKV might be fine for a BR, but either way, you can uncheck (for example) all the foreign language ones you won’t need, or keep only the 5.1 or 2.0 DTS track if you think won’t switch between them. The DTS tracks especially eat up a good chunk of file size.

Pretty sure subtitles are limited to 32 tracks on a BR, though.

Cars

Honestly, my goal when looking for a car is to find the blandest one that blends in the most, while also being highly reliable with low lifetime maintenance costs.

My next car probably will be a Camry hybrid.

Guess I’m just not much of a “car guy,” despite growing up with a parent that had a classic Barracuda as a project car every few years.

well, after playing for 120 minutes the players are usually exhausted,
and most of them have ran something like 10 miles, so making them play until someone scores sounds brutal, because that could last for several more minutes.

But both sides would be exhausted so it would be fair. Also most players in the World Cup tourney are professional level athletes, pretty they can take it. In baseball, they play inning after inning until there is a winner. In the playoffs, the NBA, NFL, and NHL all play their sport until there is a winner.

At least my way, the game would be decided by playing the sport itself instead of shoot outs.

NHL does it a good way IMO.

Regular season games have a 5 minute, sudden-death 3v3 (compared to 5v5 in regulation) overtime period. After that, winner is determined by shootout. Both teams get 1 point when the game goes into OT, and the winner (via the sudden-death period or shootout) gets a second point. (In regulation, winner gets 2 points, loser gets 0.)

But in the playoffs, all games that end in a tie in regulation just keep going, with full 20 minute 5v5 sudden-death periods.

The players are definitely tired at that point - I’ve seen playoff game go into the third OT period, which, if that went the full 20 minutes, would mean the length of the game doubles. It didn’t - someone scored around 5min into 3OT - but every player was absolutely exhausted.

I think something like this could work for soccer, honestly. Player fatigue is kind of part and parcel with OT in any sport, so I don’t really get that argument. I don’t know if the NHL’s “regular season” shortened OT period with fewer players on the field would work for soccer, but I don’t see why sudden-death OT periods in general wouldn’t.

God Dammit America.

I want to actually read the amendment to the referenced bill, because I want to approach this with a balanced opinion, but this article doesn’t cite it. The article doesn’t at all say what bill it was.

Now, because I live in Oklahoma, I clicked on the link in the article that mentioned Oklahoma passing a law that “let welfare agencies discriminate against same-sex couples who want to foster or adopt children.” The linked-to article then immediately starts out with “Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has signed into law a bill allowing faith-based adoption and foster care agencies, even those with state contracts, to turn away prospective parents who pose a conflict with their religious beliefs.”

and… Yes? So? They’re faith-based organizations who hold to certain beliefs, and they want to be selective with regard to parents based on certain principles they hold to.

Well okay then. Moving on.

Then they shouldn’t get state contracts.

I have to get two cavities filled tomorrow morning. Then go to work afterward.

Uuuuugh.

I was wrong. It was three cavities, across two teeth. I hate life.

Getting cavities filled is not actually as horrible as people make it out to be. If anything, it’s the anxiety beforehand that is worse.

Nah, it’s half the face being numb for four hours afterward and not being able to eat until it wears off that’s worse. I woke up late and didn’t eat before going in. I’m hungry.

^ That is pretty much exactly what I thought of it when I watched your first workprint.

Also, sorry I never checked out your other WP and haven’t had a chance to download or watch the final version. Life has been quite busy lately and it’s been putting pretty much all of my hobbies on hold, including posting here and places like FE and Fanres. I’ll get to it at some point, I promise!
