I think that brief addition also throws off the score a little, IIRC.

Also, personal preference maybe, but I’d prefer “star systems,” which sounds a bit more pulpy to me than “solar systems.” I’m not sure if “solar systems” is a phrase anyone says in the movies (excepting its use in this crawl, obviously).
+1 for “thousands of star systems.” Leia even specifically uses that phrasing at Tarkin in ANH.
RE: “several thousand solar systems” versus “a thousand solar systems” - both sound awkward. Why not “thousands of solar systems”?
I hope the 5.1ch mix for TESB will have a 70mm version which will contain the changes which were on the 70mm mix like Luke saying “You were lucky to get out of there” instead of “You’re lucky you didn’t taste very good” among other things.
Those weren’t part of the 70mm mix. We have in-theater audio recordings of the 70mm mix to prove it, which also prove that the ending sequence was cut differently, meaning you couldn’t make a true 70mm mix restoration and just include it as a separate audio track; you’d need to alter the video as well.
Okay. But my point is, I think a rough approximation of the 70mm mix but synced to the 35mm cut would be great for 4K80 and Harmy’s Despecialized.
I’m about 95% sure hairy_hen determined it’s essentially the same as the 35mm mix except for the picture editing differences at the end, but I could be mistaken. I’ll try and find the thread discussing it.
And from another thread:
The 35mm and 70mm ESB mixes are actually very similar for the most part. Only a few small differences between them, with the exception of the very last scene of the film, which is significantly different due to the change in editing.
The 16mm mono has a number of changes that later ended up in the special edition, as well as the foreign language versions.

Ever heard of suspension of disbelief?
I don’t necessarily agree with Dom’s premise here about that ESB scene in particular, but this is something I’ve said (or seen said) in reply to many criticisms of TLJ when it comes to nitpicks like the arcs of the First Order’s cannons firing on the Resistance fleet, the bombs dropping onto the First Order Dreadnought, the hyperspace kamikaze attack, and a few others.
I have some ideas for a fan edit of Avengers: Infinity War. Here’s my ideas:
- I know this will be really hard to do, but change the timezone in the post-credits scene with Nick Fury, because it’s not possible for New York to be in daytime while it’s daytime in Wakanda as well.
Would you do the same for the Hawkeye’s farm scene at the start of Endgame?
I would also like somebody to recreate the Original Theatrical Version of The Force Awakens, as well.
What? Nothing was changed from theatrical TFA for home video.
Sir Ridley said:
It could just be because a new photoshoot with Mark couldn’t happen for some reason.Yeah, because Mark speaks his mind. They don’t want him near the press.
Oh, for the love of…
Maybe they’re just trying to keep his role a secret beyond the fact that he’s on the cast list?
Has anyone heard anything about the Skymaster version lately, or know where I can seek out news? I’m hoping to scope it out for my ANH project that’s nearly finished.
Most recently he’s taken a detour to apply his DNR settings to Sanjuro’s color grade of 4K83, and once he’s finished with that (which shouldn’t take too long) he’ll get back to SkyMaster.
My guess is end of June for SkyMaster beta release, but that’s just a guess.
Good luck with your projects! School should always come first when it comes to these things. No one here’s gonna give you any guff for taking however long of a break you need!
Ugh, Coppola is getting worse than Michael Mann…
Oh my god, that looks perfect!
Ridley, would you mind shooting me a PM of the lossless (or ProRes or whatever) output as well? Once you’re satisfied with it, of course.
There’s no comparison on movie-censorship.com either. Which doesn’t really mean the theatrical version never made it to a home viewing format, but it does seem to indicate that it would be hard to find if it ever did.
At least this confirms that the Knights of Ren will play a part in Ep. IX (not that there was much doubt about that to begin with);
Vanity Fair released a few other set photos as well, but this one was the only one that really stood out. The rest is mostly stuff we’ve already seen in the trailer, plus some new alien designs.
The most curious part about the Knignts of Ren article is it confirms the person Kylo smashes in the red forest is one of the Knights of Ren.
Yeah, maybe, but I agree that it’s unlikely.
Weren’t we just discussing the fact that they said it’s a new planet named Pasaana, or are you saying you hope Jedha makes an appearance as well?
My theory is that this planet is highly connected to the force. Almost like force Mecca.
Isn’t that what Jedha was supposed to be?
Lol, it’s been blocked by Disney. Only a matter of time now.
Not a good thing. I hope if any hammer falls it does not spread to others he recklessly endangered.
Yeah, this is my biggest fear…fuck.
Is there going to be a Grindhouse release of this? I’d love to see all of the scenes that were removed for the VHS/DVD/Blu Ray.
Like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Uvad9uSc9kNothing was removed for the VHS or laserdisc. Those are both the theatrical version. And
you are a master of suspense
Dangit…

Man, I was ten years old when TPM came out. Wasn’t my first SW (I grew up with the early 90s VHS set my grandma owned, then the Faces VHS set when my parents bought it, then got to go see the SEs in theaters when I was 8), but I do have a lot of nostalgia for TPM as well. It’s definitely my favorite prequel by a long shot.
I think this sounds the best of all the options so far. Dom’s suggestion is good but I think it works just fine as is, too.
I don’t have an issue with the way he says “nature” myself, but that might just be that it sounds way more natural than adding “Artoo” at the end did.
Will this print be used for 4K99?
I’m not a member of the 4kxx team, but I don’t think there is an ongoing 4k99 project.
There isn’t, but there’s a thread on those forums discussing the possibility. It wasn’t started by any TN1 members though.
That’s great news!
