Young Griff/Aegon Targaryen technically would be Rhaegar’s first son, so Dany’s nephew (like Jon is).

Ah, right, my bad.

But there are some theories that Griff is actually a pretender (though he might not even know that).

Basically, he is a Blackfyre and supposedly Varys and Illyrio have groomed him for the throne. So even if he is revealed as not a true Targaryen, the people might not even care because they still love him.

Exactly - I made a passing mention of that in my post but didn’t go into detail.

But you’re right, Dany’s actions would make a lot more sense if she was dealing with him rather than Cersei. I think the key is making it to where Dany blames the people to feel like punishing them. What you said makes sense, so maybe we can think of an alternative, like that Missandei idea I had.

I’ll have to read your post again, but yeah, that’s a key thing. I think also editing the whole series to downplay some of her more magnanimous qualities and play up her questionable actions would help.

For me, it’s probably unfixable, because all the problems the show now has has stem from two decisions D&D made long ago:

  1. Cutting Young Griff from the story (who is supposedly Aegon Targaryen, Dany’s other brother nephew, but who might have been fed lies about this by Varys). Who, in the books, will likely be the one to take King’s Landing from Cersei after her Sept of Baelor stunt and be welcomed by the people. He already has the backing of most of the southern Kingdoms (that have been forgotten by the show), which makes Dorne relevant and gives the Tyrells someone to rally behind, too. Thus, when Dany arrives expecting to be welcomed with open arms, she’s shunned as an invader and usurper by the people while someone who theoretically has a better claim to the throne than her sits on it, making her turn to cruelty make more sense.
  2. Stripping almost all magic from the show. The Starks are all supposed to be wargs (Bran should have been doing some warg-fighting in episode 3), Jon’s resurrection should have had more consequences (foreshadowed by book Beric and Lady Stoneheart), and the big one - Euron Greyjoy is supposed to be a goddamn pirate wizard who used blood magic and has a horn that can bind dragons. Book Euron is way more interesting and will probably be the one to steal Dany’s dragon and bring down the Wall, eliminating all that bullshit from last season.

There are more nitty-gritty issues than this, but these two major things caused ripple effects through all the other characters - Tyrion is now a moron, Varys and Littlefinger ended up purposeless because their endgame plans relied on characters that no longer exist on the show, Dany seemed to decide to burn innocent people for no reason when it should have been anger at them supporting Griff instead of her, Bran just sits there being cryptic, Cersei stood on a balcony for at least a season after she should have been dead already…

I could go on but I’m burnt out.

Basically, I think some editing might be able to salvage what’s there to some degree, but the core problems started with decisions made years ago because the things that were eliminated weren’t massively important yet as of book 5 with little thought as to how they might affect the ending. Now that we see what the bones of the ending are, we can see what purpose those seemingly out-of-nowhere book 4/5 things actually are meant to serve.

You’re right guys. It works better.
It will propably take a lot of time to make the whole scene, because of the Star Destroyer. I can’t find detailed enough free version so I have to modify that one I already have… which won’t be easy, due to my lack of skills in modelling, huh.

This one looks like it will suit your needs.

That’s the ESB design though, isn’t it?

The Devastator is an Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer, which is what the model is. Unless there were 2 different versions of the I-Class, this is it.

I stand corrected! Is the top part the only part that’s different?

Not sure, but it’s the most noticeable part.

Theatrical version of ROTS exists. It’s just the HDTV with the missing wipe restored. Schorman did it.

I also think there are differences in the crawl timing. Not to mention that the Blu Ray is a higher quality source than the HDTV rip.

Never heard about the crawl timing thing, and there is a high-quality theatrical bootleg out there to compare to IIRC. And the BR could be used as a source except for the altered rooftops on Kashyyyk, and the audio in the Utapau clone arrival scene.

Plus, the HDTV copy is much higher quality than most. But yeah, BR would be better overall.

It’s only lose-lose if they do Revan, same as a Mass Effect movie that does Shepard. Old Republic era overall would be fine.

I doubt they’d do a direct adaptation anyway. And even if they did the games aren’t canon anymore so they’re free to define it how they want (the people who’d be bothered would be a minority).

Well, of course, but Revan was a player-insert character, so everyone has their own view of what “their” Revan is. That’s why the TOR additions to Revan’s character were so poorly received. Any adaptation of the character will face the same issue, whether it’s adapting the same story as KOTOR or telling a new one.

NFBisms added in a couple Dee Bradley Baker "General Skywalker"s in his edit and it worked fine for me, and I’m usually real picky about that shit. Mala also made an alternate audio track for Hal’s edit and included these bits from NFBisms as well.

In fact I took the idea from NFBisms but I did recreate the excepts I used. I don’t remember where NFB placed them, but I made two radio like voiceovers (to somehow try to hide it’s not Temuera’s voice) during the first 20 minutes of Hal’s edit.

Aaahhh, that’s where my confusion came from!

I’ll probably make my own track with NFBism’s Grievous “General Skywalker” line (and blackjack and hookers). If I don’t ever get around to actually making my own edit(s), of course. 😉

Where and who would exactly be saying “General Skywalker” in an edit of Episode III? It would seem a bit obvious that it’s added in if it’s a clone that says it. Temuera Morrison plays the clones in the movies, but Dee Bradley Baker voices them in the shows. The reason why adding Qui-Gon’s line into Hal’s edit worked is because of the placement, context, and that it actually was Liam Neeson’s voice too.

Sorry to derail with this whole thing. If you don’t wanna use it, that’s fine. I’ll just do it myself. 😉

Some predictions:

We will be seeing tons of articles/YouTube videos talking about how much Rian, Benioff & Weiss’ trilogies will be cinematic failures before they even come out (I personally am a bit skeptical of D&D myself).

Most fans on both sides of the spectrum are going to LOVE The Mandalorian. I think it’ll be so successful Fanvreau and Filoni will be given more future projects. Fans will love these two.

Sorta unrelated, but the new Avatar movies (at the very least Avatar 2) are going to perform exceptionally well at the box office despite some skepticism. General audiences will fall in love with Pandora again like they did in 2009.

I guess the skeptics haven’t seen the long lines the Pandora land Disney in Florida gets.

It’s because of how cool the ride is. I went and really enjoyed it but it wasn’t really because it’s Pandora. None of the people I went with seemed to care about that, just that the ride is pretty cool.

So, it’s like people who ride Splash Mountain, but don’t know it’s based on a movie? 😉

Wait, what? It is?

Have you thought about incorporating some of NFBism’s edits to strengthen Anakin’s character/bring him more in line with TCW? I know some of those ideas were carried over into Mala’s audio track (and you’re keeping Mala’s change in the council scene, which I’m all for!), but I think there were some visual changes/edits that helped with that in NFBism’s edit, too.

I’ll try to find some particular examples in my downtime at work tonight.
