That site also doesn't list a German version of ANH anywhere. Seems as if it is somewhat incomplete if you ask me.

I got an email from LFL a few days ago. Of course something along those lines popped into my head when I first saw it in my inbox, but unfortunately the email didn't have anything to do with OOT restoration.

I guess I had some pics on my site that were in violation of their Hyperspace/Insider copyright policy.

... This is not entirely about making a duplicate of the theatrical version, it's about Mike fixing the DVDs the way he likes it. It's his project. He's more or less de-SEizing the discs, but some things are being kept.

Oh, of course! I can't believe they sent me a defective copy...sheesh...

When I get MASH back from my dad I'll check it. Music doesn't matter since the SE music is the same as the original music (for the FOX logo, I mean).

@ Hardcore Legend-- No, Empire's logo was the same as Star Wars's. Look at my screenshots. The EMPIRE transfer was darker than the STAR WARS transfer, which is why they look a little different brightness-wise, but the logos themselves are the exact same.

@ Me Be Jedi -- I believe they were cropped for 16x9. Not sure though.

The ISOMIX versions have a music-only audio track, so it's not being completely ignored. I'm with the idea for the early sound mix with the newer video mix...I like that a lot...

I didn't bother with Aliens since it's not 2.35:1, it's 1.85:1.

Not sure, but I think ALIEN would be better than ALIEN3; unless I'm mistaken (and I very well could be), there was a 79-and-earlier logo used in STAR WARS and ALIEN, and an 80-and-later logo used for EMPIRE/JEDI and onward, which is the one on ALIEN3. The dates I have no idea of, but there's a suggestion. Again, I could very well be mistaken...

2.35:1 movies will ALWAYS have black bars no matter what TV you're using, because there is no TV wider than 1.78:1 (16:9). And the picture doesn't look stretched on a 4:3 (1.33:1) TV is because the DVD player is set up correctly...if it isn't, then it will look stretched, which is wrong.

Any 1.85:1 movie still has bars but they are almost unnoticeable. I don't know what the hell they do with 1.66:1 ... maybe they put bars on the sides?

And those black bars on 2.35 movies like Star Wars are encoded in the stream, not player generated. Pop one into the computer and you'll notice, playing it back not at full-screen, that they have black bars. Since no TVs are wider than 16:9, why bother encoding it any wider than 16:9, right? That's why the black bars are there.

Just was looking through eBay...and I found a DVL-909 which the site I linked to says doesn't play DTS DVD's...but the auction does, and the player has a DTS symbol on it...but it's 300 smackers. Right. Then again I'm broke...so I'll have to wait a while.

My teacher's got the remote...hmm...I'll have to think about conning her into selling it...extremely doubtful that she will, but what the hell, right?

By the way, what does an Elite DVL-91 go for nowadays? If I ever do seriously consider getting a LD player other than the one my teacher has, that'd be the one I get...mainly for the component cables for the DVD, I'd just use it to replace my current DVD player...

I suppose it's too much to ask for a Laserdisc/DVD player that is multiregion with digital (including DTS) out and component outputs...

I just realized that your site, zion, says you used a CLC-V2600...do you mean CLD-V2600? I can't find a CLC-anything on http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/pioneer1.htm ... but my Spanish teacher has a CLD-V2600 in her classroom...is that a good player?

It's known as edge enhancement, and the official TPM DVD is plagued by it. EE never really bothered me, because I never noticed it until I knew what it was, so I can live with it on Zion's bootleg.
