For ANH, most likely I'll be doing two angles for the crawl, where one is the "A New Hope" crawl and the other is the original. Sabers will be redone also. What I'd really like to do is one of those seamless branching things where you can choose to view the film with or without my video enhancements. We'll see how that goes.

While I really like to hear the pre-ANH version, I have two concerns/questions:

1. The sabers. I say leave them be, or at least put them in as alternate angles or something that can be chosen as well because my take, especially on a pre-ANH version, is to preserve the original video and audio as much as possible, which leads me to my next point.

2. Soundtrack. Since there is a VHS tecline that I hear has a quite good copy of the original mono track and MeBeJedi is working to synch this with the video, will you be using this? I'd strongly suggest that as at least an option, as I'd love to hear all the old changes and this would be in line with preserving the original as much as possible.

But this is your set so of course I'm leaving this entirely up to you - it's not like I have any say in it anyway, haha, but I don't want you to think I'm pulling a DanielB and bitching at you for not doing it my way.

Info: Any Interest In A Corrected 2004 DVD? (“Deliberate Creative Decisions” info)

I find this very interesting, but I myself am not interested in this; however I posted to say I never minded the "new" Vader voice; in fact I always hated the fact that it is completely different from the other movies. However, I believe in historical preservation *as well* as an artist's right to revise his work as long as the original isn't superceded by it, as Lucas is doing.

Wow. Amazing. That's just ... wow...

Are you going to be putting A NEW HOPE in the SW menu? Wait, I'll back up - will your ANH/SW DVD have a pre-ANH version on it? I'd strongly reccomend one, just put the original crawl and the mono soundtrack and you have the 77 mono theatrical version, right? The crawl could be an alternate angle, so you wouldn't have to make two DVDs and everything. But what do you think about this?

The "EditDroid" Trilogy DVD Info and Feedback Thread (Released)

Wow. Well, this looks great, but I really do want the original mono mix, so I'm going to be waiting till MeBeJedi gets that ready. I plan on getting the Zion set and if possible I'd like to do a little of my own personal DVD editing and use the MeBeJedi mono soundtrack and crawl with everything else from Zion's SW disc, except the menus modded a bit to remove the ANH from Star Wars. But if I can't figure out how to do that (which I probably won't), I'll be getting Zion's ESB/ROTJ and MeBe's Pre-ANH. And if that doesn't come to fruitition, I'll just get this. Unless, of course, Zion wants to make a pre-ANH disc...*hint*

By the way, I have TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6, and every time I add two videos to the same track the video becomes de-synched with the audio after the second track. For example, I got the new Battlestar Galactica miniseries and edited out the credits at the end of part one and beginning of part two, loaded part one onto a track in TMPGEnc DVDAuthor and then part two onto the next track. However, after the second half starts, the audio is out of sync, however if I skip back to the beginning of it the audio is back in sync, I just can't play it straight through. Not sure if this is the best thread for this, but anyone know what the deal is? Can I just not do this in that program?

Well, I figured I was being rather childish in my leaving, and now that I see the asshole in question seems to be gone and Laserman is back, I figured I'd come back.

Thank you so much for reconsidering, Laserman! If I can in any way help out I will gladly do so, however I probably won't be able to donate much if any money. Anything I can do I gladly will do to help out.

I don't recall the TR47 set as being anamorphic, I thought Dr. Gonzo's set was the first of those. I know the guy that made the TR47 set is doing a new one that is anamorphic, though.

--edit--

That eBay auction is the Dr. Gonzo set HOWEVER don't waste that much money on eBay, like MeBe said, talk to Rik and he'll hook you up.

Info Wanted: a Pre-ANH edit of Ep IV?

OK, cool; thanks for clearing that up for me. I'd help you with the webspace if I could, but unfortunately I have no means of doing so (if I had webspace I'd have a lot more than one DVD cover up at Dag's site...). If there's any way I can help with this, I'll gladly do whatever I can. I'm very interested in these projects, and if I had the time and money I'd try one of my own, but alas, I don't. Hell, it took me a month to figure out how to put our most recent school play onto a DVD (much to my fellow cast members' annoyance; I'd hoped to have it done a week after production at the latest); I don't have a lot of knowledge on these subjects, and the capture card I have will only capture at 352 by something-or-other (I'm not at my computer now so I can't check), so needless to say my final product with the play didn't look so hot. I can only imagine how badly a transfer of my own for Star Wars would look...I don't even want to think about it...haha...

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but I still don't think you see my point. I'm not talking about those projects, I'm talking about the pre-ANH edits of Star Wars, with the original crawl and soundtrack. I'm wondering what LD transfer is being used for this project/these projects. Sorry if that's what you're saying, I just don't think you're getting what I mean.

I have one more question/suggestion - will you be using the X0 transfer or your own, or someone else's? I'd say use the X0 transfer. Personally I think it would be awesome if Zion would be willing to make his ANH DVD a seamless-branched version like this, with the ANH crawl as default and the original version an option, but I don't know if he'd be willing to do so.
