Advice on Name Changing
Time
I'm a senior in high school this year, planning on going to Columbia College Chicago next year to study film editing. When you start reading the next paragraph, that might seem unnecessary, but it kinda is, so bear with me.

I was born out of wedlock (my parents never have been married), taking my mother's surname. A year or so later, my mother got married to the man who has pretty much been my father for the past 16 years (I used to see my father twice a month, until last year; I haven't spoken to him since January and haven't seen him since Christmas, and those were the only two times I'd done either since June of last year). My stepdad's last name is Italian, difficult to spell and pronounce for most, and when I was 5 my parents had my last name changed to his. I didn't know this until I got my drivers' license last year and saw that my birth certificate was issued in 1994, not 1989.

Lately, especially since I discovered that, the constant misspelling and mispronouncing of my last name has been a source of constant irritation to me. I've toyed in my head with the idea of reverting to my birth name (a very American, simple name - I'll use Smith as an example, not because it's the name, but because it's a common name as well). But lately, I've been thinking that with going into the film industry, it might be easier to go with a simpler (also one-syllable) name than my current Italian (three-syllable, with several silent letters) one.

At the same time, the reason I've not seriously considered this in the past is, if my parents wanted my name changed badly enough before I got into school that they changed it, would they be upset if I reverted to the old one when I turn 18? Does anyone have any experience with this, or advice on whether I should do this or not? It won't affect me until February, my 18th birthday, and even then I wouldn't change it until I finish high school in June (unless it would be easier to have my "new" name on my diploma), but I've been thinking about this a lot lately.

Does anyone have any advice they could lend?

Info: 2006 GOUT DVD using 'Faces' PCM Sound?
Time
Okay ... I must be doing SOMETHING wrong ... could someone give me a short tutorial of what they did to acheived successful results? I'd like to make a set of .VOB files that are identical to the original ones with the 77 theatrical stereo .ac3 in place of the 93 English mix on the DVD.

Perhaps it's in the way I converted to .ac3? I used besweetGUI ...

Time
Well, nothing seems to work muxing with IfoEdit or MuxMan ... I was able to burn it with TMPGEnc DVD Author, but of course there are no subtitles, menus, etc now ...

Anyone have any suggestions to mux the m2v, .ac3 and .sup files together in such a way that I can replace the original VIDEO_TS files of the DVD and keep all the original menus, etc? Once they're muxed into VOBs I can do it, but I can't get it muxed into VOBs - I keep getting error messages. I've tried with the full video and ac3s of 448 down to 192 kbps, and the same with compressed video ... nothing works!

I'm also working with anamorphic-converted video ... would that cause these issues?

I compressed the video and it's still giving me the same thing. What's the deal? I've tried with several different kbps .ac3 files, from 448 down to 224, and I'm finally giving up and trying 192 kbps just so I can mutiplex it and hear the damn mix for once - but if that doesn't work, then I don't know WHAT the problem is, because then the bitrate will be the same as the original DVD. . . .

Holy shit. That was the best 2 hours of TV I've seen in so long I can't remember ... absolutely stunning. Any reservations I had about the direction taken at the end of Season 2 - gone completely. If this show doesn't have a run that rivals the dredge that is Stargate, I may give up on TV altogether.

Theoretically you could use the method to add/replace audio tracks on a full disc keeping the menus and disc structure intact.
You'd have to get your new audio track to sync before adding it of course, and you'd only have access through the 'audio' key on your remote (unless you replaced an existing track and can remember that say french is your mono). I suppose you could rebuild the menus too... but then you might as well just rebuild the whole disc.

If anyone is interested I'll upload the guide somewhere.

One vote for this guide.

Slideshow of ANH changes since 1977

The spacing of the words in the title crawl has changed to avoid single words on a line ending a paragraph. Also note that the capitalization of "Rebel" was fixed in the second paragraph so that it matches the first.

Wow ... so what, they didn't notice that the first paragraph's "rebel" began a sentence? I guess we aren't capitalizing sentence-starters anymore? And what of the "rebel" in (Empire? Jedi? can't recall, but in one [both?] of those, "rebel" is indeed lowercased) later films? No correction there? Ha ...

Dr. M's Reinventing The Wheel Edition (PAL to NTSC+) (Released)
Time
For some reason, my ratio on Demonoid never changes whatsoever no matter what the hell I do. It says I've downloaded 0, uploaded 0. I've downloaded several things, including the dual-layer, 8-gigabyte Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, all the Dr. Ebbetts Beatles releases I could find, and a few more, and I always upload till my ratio is at least 1.5. The reason I don't upload more is because I rarely have more than 10 gigabytes free on my computer, even when I don't have anything I've downloaded on the computer, and I tend to download large files like DVDs.

For the record, my username there is the same as it is here.

Ah, but the interesting thing is, Jedi is the only film of all six to have three dots and not four.

And here's my stab:

STAR
WARS

Episode III

REVENGE OF THE JEDI

The rebellion is doomed.
The GALACTIC EMPIRE is
nearly completed with a
new armored space station,
even more powerful than
the first dreaded DEATH STAR.

While the scattered remnants
of the rebel fleet regroup,
Luke Skywalker returns to
to Tattooine in an attempt
to rescue Han Solo from
the clutches of the vile
gangster Jabba the Hutt.

As the evil Lord Darth Vader
arrives to personally oversee
the final stages of the Death
Star's construction, both
good and evil prepare for the
final battle that will decide
the fate of the galaxy. . . .

Kill Bill - The Whole Bloody Affair - QtheGaijin Fan Edit (Released)

Other than that one scene, though, you did an absolutely wonderful job. Even with that scene, it's still the version of the movie I'd watch, and the version I'd show to people who've never seen it before. It's just my personal preference that the scene shouldn't have been added back in if only for the reason of the huge quality drop from the rest of the movie. But flawless work otherwise.

One complaint:

The added scene is misplaced and not of terribly good quality. I'd suggest either finding a better source and placing it between Bill/Beatrix's campfire scene and the Bill coming down Pai-Mai's steps scene, or dropping it altogether, which I'd like to do myself. However I have no way of doing that without screwing up the subtitles unless someone has a suggestion for me ... ?

Info: Original episode cuts of TV series...

No, Galactica was aired as 2. The cut point was right after Adama sees Lee "die" on DRADIS. You can tell because the music abruptly stops at that point. There are AVIs of the original airing around somewhere, through bittorrent.

Yep, I know those AVI (I'll propably use them for the credits).
So basicly, epguides is wrong?
BSG on EPGuides

If I'm really lucky, there is a chapter stop at this point, so I don't have to recode some of Episode 2.

Yeah, epguides is wrong - also note the airdates for parts "1&2" and "3&4." They were never shown as a four-parter ... how boring the first episode would have been; no one would have finished the miniseries.
