Blade Runner 2, 4, and 5-disc sets in December
Time
It's much better the second and third time through. It's not something you can immediately appreciate the first time you see it, it's something that has to sink in.

Also, while the narration is extraordinarily sub-par and out of place sounding on the original theatrical version, were it recorded better (as in, more in Deckard's character) I would prefer it to be included as it contains some nice information that helps understand some things.

Serious ripping issues
Time
Hmm ... internal drive problems would be quite distressing as it's an expensive, brand-new laptop. I don't own any external drives and I don't particularly want to buy one (at least not until after I've taken care of an external hard drive, a new turntable and speaker system, car insurance, and several other issues), especially if it's only with ripping and not playback or burning.

Speaking of which ... what does that mean? If the discs it's having trouble ripping play fine, and burned discs work fine ... and yes, the ripping issue isn't just with MTR, as I said I tried OSEx, Handbrake, and I think one other with the same results (actually Handbrake gave me completely unreadable files in general- couldn't open them in anything) ....

How to make a Star Wars DVD with the restored mono mix PCM
Time
How do you add the pre-command to turn on subtitles? Or is this, indeed, not necessary?

--edit--

Nevermind, I got it - it's burning now.

And for the record I used the nonanamorphic GOUT - I'm going to try to reencode this version later on for anamorphic.

--edit again--

Oddly enough, the forced subtitle tag only worked on 1 of the 3 players I tested it on. Slightly inconvenient.

Plus you have 4 other versions of the film without new effects to choose from - it's not like he's pulling a Lucas with this, hell he's even including a version that predates the theatrical release that's never seen the (official) light of day until now.

Plus, I'm sure if the new effects stand out too much, someone'll take the scenes with the original effects and splice them into the Final Cut as a fan edit, or "preservation", or whatever. But it sounds to me like they're welcome changes, the kind of stuff that wouldn't have bothered me so much if *that* had been what the Star Wars SE was about.

Serious ripping issues
Time
I've been trying to rip a few DVDs to my hard drive, mainly for editing. But the problem is, after about 53 minutes in, the video and audio freezes up until about 1:48. The picture just stops moving, and the audio stops, and I'm missing almost an hour of the movie.

While I can solve this problem by copying just the chapters that didn't work, this doesn't help me at ALL when I'm trying to copy the GOUT to replace the audio while keeping all the other features. I'm using a MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz dual-core Intel, 4 GB memory, with a "SuperDrive" that used to work just fine. I've tried restarting and uninstalling/reinstalling MacTheRipper, and even using a different program (OSEx) with identical results.

What the *hell* is the issue here? It was working fine a few weeks ago, this just started happening I think last week.

- Commentary by Ridley Scott
- Commentary by Executive Producer/ Co-Screenwriter Hampton Fancher and Co-Screenwriter David Peoples; Producer Michael Deely and production executive Katherine Haber

Disc Two - DOCUMENTARY - DANGEROUS DAYS: MAKING BLADE RUNNER
A feature-length authoritative documentary revealing all the elements that shaped this hugely influential cinema landmark. Cast, crew, critics and colleagues give a behind-the-scenes, in-depth look at the film -- from its literary roots and inception through casting, production, visuals and special effects to its controversial legacy and place in Hollywood history.

The Four-Disc Collector's Edition includes everything from the 2-Disc Special Edition plus three additional versions of the film, as well as an "Enhancement Archive" bonus disc of enhanced content that includes 90 minutes of deleted footage and rare or never-before-seen items in featurettes and galleries that cover the film's amazing history, production teams, special effects, impact on society, promotional trailers, TV spots, and much more.

Discs 1 and 2 are the same as above.

Disc Three
1982 THEATRICAL VERSION
This is the version that introduced U.S. movie-going audiences to a revolutionary film with a new and excitingly provocative vision of the near-future. It contains Deckard/Harrison Ford's character narration and has Deckard and Rachel's (Sean Young) "happy ending" escape scene.

1982 INTERNATIONAL VERSION
Also used on U.S. home video, laserdisc and cable releases up to 1992. This version is not rated, and contains some extended action scenes in contrast to the Theatrical Version.

1992 DIRECTOR'S CUT
The Director's Cut omits Deckard's voiceover narration and removes the "happy ending" finale. It adds the famously-controversial "unicorn" sequence, a vision that Deckard has which suggests that he, too, may be a replicant.

Disc Four - BONUS DISC - "Enhancement Archive"

Included is a lenticular motion film clip from the original feature, miniature origami unicorn figurine, miniature replica spinner car, collector's photographs as well as a signed personal letter from Sir Ridley Scott.

Discs 1-4 as above

Disc Five - WORKPRINT VERSION
This rare version of the film is considered by some to be the most radically different of all the Blade Runner cuts. It includes an altered opening scene, no Deckard narration until the final scenes, no "unicorn" sequence, no Deckard/Rachel "happy ending," altered lines between Batty (Rutger Hauer) and his creator Tyrell (Joe Turkell), alternate music and much more.

Also includes:
- Commentary by Paul M. Sammon, author of Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner

GOUT DVD using 'Faces' PCM Sound?

All those links are dead now - could someone upload the 1977 PCM Stereo for Star Wars (preferably the "reference level" one) to RapidShare or a torrent or something? I'd also appreciate the '85 mixes of Empire and Jedi, if Belbucus or someone else ever synchronized those to the GOUT, but those don't really matter so much to me at the moment.

Thank you so much! You are awesome!

I feel bad though because my internet connection or possibly my torrent client seems to be wonky all the time - I can never seed properly, if at all. I guess I can connect to people to download and I can upload to them while I'm downloading, but once I start seeding, everyone drops off. Anyone know a workaround for this with Bits On Wheels?

--edit--

It seems I'm seeding at a few kilobytes per second at the very least - I'll leave it open, and hopefully my connection will speed up and I'll get connected to more people.

Demonoid?

--edit--

Found it - thanks much! I'll have to have a listen to REVOLVER as well - it's my favorite Beatles album, and I already have Mono Matrix 1 and Mono Matrix 2/3 from Dr. Ebbetts, so I'm curious as to the sound quality of this version. I've always been very happy with Ebbetts' releases. If only now I could find his copy of The Who's mono A QUICK ONE ...
