IT - The Losers Only Cut (Released)
Time

Oh, I didn’t realize he didn’t intend to cut them together like the book. What’s the point then? Ugh.

I’d be happy to check out your edit and give you some feedback. Might be useful to get feedback from someone who’s never seen either movie, too! Just gotta buy the movies first and then I’ll give your edit a spin sometime this week (probably after Rise of Skywalker comes out, honestly, but I might be able to get to it sooner).

As someone who hasn’t seen either film and was purposefully waiting for the teased official “supercut” that may or may not actually happen, or for a fan edit like yours, I’m intrigued.

Do you have plans to eventually update your edit with the Blu-Ray of Chapter 2? And if so, are you trying to hold off on that until you get some viewer feedback to make additional tweaks before updating the Chapter 2 video with the BR?

The ‘Custom Special Edition’ That Almost Wasn’t, But Then Was (Released)

Currently encoding a new workprint for ROTJ using the 19SE as the primary source, since it was easy to do. This should be much more watchable than the BR-sourced one available now.
But, I probably won’t use the 19SE as the ultimate source because it is a different feel to the ones I used for ANH and ESB. Whether it’s Adywan adjusting the BR or someone else adjusting the eventual disc release of the 19SE, the ultimate source remains hidden for now.

Especially since Adywan just announced that he’s scrapping his 2011 BR color correction entirely and waiting for the new 4K masters to get a physical release…

Hi Brandon!

Don’t post links openly in the forum, it’s against the rules.

The best way to share is to create a new thread in the proper subforum for your edit, share some info about it and a cutlist (not really required, but customary), and ask people to send you a private message to ask for the link. Sending links through private messages is fine.

To send a PM, click on the username to go to the user’s landing page. Once there, click on the link that says “Start a Private Topic.”

To read your PMs, on the top right of the screen there’s a little “speech bubble” - click on that to open your inbox. When you have new PMs, the “speech bubble” will be solid; when you have no new PMs, it will be an outline.

Welcome to the forums!

The Mandalorian : 'MikeLuv80 / JSteven / ForceGhostRecon & Many Other Socks' edit

I’ve got nothing but respect and admiration for the work of JSteven/FGR. Bullshit to continue banning one of the most talented and creative editors here over some shit he said years ago.

Or maybe if one gets banned for something one said years ago, one should try contacting the mods and politely expressing contrition for one’s past mistakes and asking to be reinstated instead of creating new accounts to circumvent the ban in flagrant violation of the site’s rules multiple times.

Making good content doesn’t excuse repeatedly violating the rules. This isn’t the first time a talented creative that’s contributed to the community has been permanently banned from the site for breaking the rules. Adywan and Harmy would (and should) get the same treatment if they behaved the same way and they’re practically deified by the community.

Whatever happened to <whatshisface>?

Oh wow. Yeah, that’s certainly much more severe than mine. I do know that high levels of stress cause my tics to increase in frequency and severity, so hopefully once you’re more settled (big moves being stressful and all that) and have had time to get effective treatment for your PTSD and any other issues, the Tourette’s symptoms will begin to abate some.

Just a point, film grain is distracting and takes you out of the experience, regardless if it’s natural or artificial. Sure, the CGI backgrounds are obviously CGI, but why not make them a bit “blurry” (but not too much) to make them feel less fake?

Counterpoint: I disagree with this entirely. Film grain is not distracting and does not take me out of the experience. In fact, it tends to draw me in more.

Obviously it’s possible to go too far to the point where it is distracting, but in general, the lack of any type of film grain will distract me more than its presence.

So you’re saying modern live-action movies look bland, even if there’s no dreadful color filters applied?

Oh, absolutely.

There are exceptions where the director/cinematographer go “above and beyond” to make the look of their film stand out, but even then, things tend to look artificial and soulless to me.

1999 theatrical Phantom Menace is significantly different from the DVD and Blu-Ray versions. Especially Blu-Ray, which is significantly different from the DVD version.

Theatrical TPM has never been released on home video on anything fancier than VHS and Laserdisc, and the DVD version isn’t available officially on anything better than…well, DVD (though Schorman has preserved it in 1080p from HDTV broadcasts).
