Die Hard 4 is another story, but that's because they changed it to PG-13.  I still didn't hate it, but I don't think I'll watch it again.

I thought the Unrated cut would help some in that regard. It adds a bit more Die Hard-esque violence that is needed but because of the use of alternate takes and dialogue kinda feels like a workprint. Still it works better overall than Vengeance. (aka Lethal Weapon 4 Pt. 1)

Out of curiosity, why don't you like Vengeance?  It's by far my favorite of the Die Hard sequels.

Hell, as far as I'm concerned, it's the only Die Hard sequel...

Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast
Time

Bingowings said:

The Dark Knight had very little of that (even if Dent's injuries seemed too extreme to be taken seriously in that universe).

A perfect example of something that made me very nervous before the movie came out.

Anyone remember this image?

That made me just as nervous as these Bane/Catwoman pics have.

So yeah.  I'll definitely still see it, regardless of how these pre-release images look.

Reminds me of 'Gattaca' for some reason....

Same writer/director as Gattaca, Andrew Niccol.

He also wrote The Truman Show, and wrote/directed Lord of War.

...And S1m0ne.  But we can forget about that one...

And I'm looking forward to seeing In Time, but I feel like the trailer gave way too much of the story away...

Sean Connery is the best part of Last Crusade.

Sean Connery is the only good part of Last Crusade.

Minus the last 30 minutes (the whole tests on the way to the Grail, that was all awesome).

Anyway, my last movie seen was Black Swan. Never watch 2001, Fight Club, The Wall, Clockwork Orange, Moon, and Black Swan in a row. Your mind will explode.

Holy shit, dude.

What are you reading?
Time

Two at once (switching from one to the other when I get a bit bored):

*Just noticed that you've read this as well, C3PS.  I'm a little more than halfway through, and enjoying it immensely.

*This one's dragging a bit, at least compared to A Game of Thrones, which is why (unlike a friend of mine who started the series at the same time I did) I haven't plowed through all 4,000-odd pages of the series just yet.

- When you post an image, clear your cache and check to make sure it displays.

- If it does, Yay!  Your'e good!

- If it doesn't, then you have two options:

A) Go find another copy of the picture online and go back to step 1.

B) Copy the original image to your hard drive and reupload it to imgur or photobucket or wherever you want, then go back and use THAT one in step 1.

There.  Was it really that hard to figure it out without getting into whiny bitch mode?

70mm versus 35mm Film
Time

35mm film is 35 millimeters wide, 70mm film is 70 millimeters wide.  This means that 70mm film has a larger physical area on which to place an image, meaning much greater detail and clarity.

Also, IMAX is just 70mm film turned on its side, making the physical area on which an image can be stored even bigger, resulting in even greater clarity and detail than regular 70mm.

Imagine how it'd be if they remade that awesome Spanish film "Open Your Eyes" and made the jealous lover character a blonde... she'd probably be played by Cameron Diaz or something... uggh.

Vanilla Sky was awesome, you're terrible.

Ugh, no.  Vanilla Sky was terrible.  And I'm not just saying that because it's a remake - I quite like both Let the Right One In and the English-language remake (Let Me In).

But Vanilla Sky is vastly inferior to Open Your Eyes.

"Doctor Who" (1996) at proper speed [AUDIO FINISHED; VIDEO SECOND PASS IN PROGRESS]
Time

It's on the backburner for now.  I've been working in Chicago, but still living in NW Indiana, so with the commute this leaves me about 1-2 hours at home where I'm not sleeping.

On top of that, I had to start going through the movie frame-by-frame in order to eliminate all the interlacing artifacts.  There's still some ghosting that I can't get rid of, but the interlacing issues were much more distracting anyway.

This job should be done with in 2-3 weeks, though (temp gig), so after that I'll have tons of free time to crawl my way through this movie once again.

Don't worry, it's not dead - I'm going to tentatively say that it should be done by winter 2011.

I honestly don't know if I'm going to continue with my fan edit of the movie, though.  I'm not going to touch it until I get the conversion finished at the very least.

I still really wish they'd focused more on the flashbacks to Voldemort's past in #6.  They also dealt very poorly with the Harry/Ginny relationship throughout all the films (the last two are no exception in this), mainly in cutting their conversation after Dumbledore's death (which I felt was very important character-wise).

Other than that, Yates' entries (5, 6, and both of 7) were easily my favorites of the series, followed closely by 3.  (The first two are pretty good, but 4 just blows chunks until the last half hour.)
