Frink loses 0.5 points for calling General Hux a Weasley brother. For shame.

I adore Ex Machina, though. The nudity didn’t bother me because it was (to me) making a point that Nathan sees his creations as objects and not people, whereas the opposite point is made when Ava steals the flesh covering from one of the other robots (she finally looks like a person and not an object).

9/10 for me.

JEDIT: I can’t spell.

If you need to B*tch about something other than originaltrilogy.com... This is the place

Well, that one simply because it’s in walking distance. But it’s the only one I’ve ever had this problem at, so I won’t be buying anything but cigarettes from them anymore. (I’ve heard rumors that they water down their gas for years so I’ve never bought gas from them in the first place.)

The Pure Leaf Honey Green Tea I just bought at the gas station down the street has an expiration date of two weeks from today, yet the taste is already starting to turn. This is the second time it’s happened from that gas station.

I’ll no longer be buying my teas from there. I don’t know what they’re doing (storing them warm for too long, coolers not being cold enough, I dunno), but I’m not supporting it anymore.

Info: The Dark Knight - EE Reduction and Original Color Timing
Time

So stretch009 posted a 2.40:1 version of this on MySpleen. I asked this in a comment there, but figured I might get an answer here more quickly:

Does cropping the IMAX stuff to 2.40:1 require reframing differently for each shot (to conform it to the 2.40:1 DVD, which I presume is the same framing as the theatrical 2.40:1 was), or is it just a straight crop on top and bottom throughout? And does anyone know which of the two stretch009 did for his constant-height release on MySpleen?

Star Wars "Official" Canon Content Thread
Time

Will it make me give a shit about Chrome Boba Fett?

I need to finish catching up on the canon material. So far I’ve read (in publication order):

 • A New Dawn (7/10)
 • Tarkin (9/10)
 • Lords of the Sith (7/10)
 • Dark Disciple (8/10)
 • Aftermath (6/10)
 • Lost Stars (10/10)
 • Bloodline (9/10)
 • Aftermath: Life Debt (8/10)
 • Catalyst (9/10)
 • Aftermath: Empire’s End (8/10)
 • Thrawn (9/10)

I got through about 15 pages of Heir to the Jedi before I gave up. I’m working my way through Ahsoka right now but keep getting distracted by other things.

Are Guardians of the Whills and Rebel Rising worth picking up? I was under the impression they were junior novelizations of parts of Rogue One but apparently I’m mistaken on that…?

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **

I guess one big question we should ask Ady before making a bunch of radical suggestions is:

Do you intend for ROTJ:R to be like ANH:R and ESB:R, in that it’ll be the “Special Edition that should have been,” or do you intend to make more dramatic editing decisions this time around?

I mean, if you’re definitely not doing any major “fan edit-y” restructuring or anything, then suggesting the reinstatement of deleted scenes, moving Dagobah to pre-Tatooine, etc. are pointless suggestions. Not that saying you won’t be doing any of that will stop everyone from suggesting such things, but it’ll reign a good chunk of us in.

Of course, if you are planning more major changes this time around, I’ve gotta throw my hat in the ring for the Jerjerrod’s Conflict scenes to be reinstated.

I picked up both yesterday but I’m not sure which I’m going to read first. I’m leaning toward Phasma right now just because Claudia Gray is a known quantity at this point and I’m curious as to how Delilah Dawson does Star Wars. Also, she said on Twitter the other day that she wanted to please people who “own 4 different versions of Episode IV”, and the fact that an insider was willing to acknowledge that there even are multiple cuts filled me with good will.

Force Friday II releases aside, I’ve been wondering lately if we’ll ever see another large-scale adventure with established characters in a book once the ST is finished. I get that they’re holding off on that kind of thing now because the movies are filling that role, but I really hope we eventually get some one-offs like Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor again instead of everything either being on a very small scale or exclusively featuring original characters.

Yay, someone else who’s read Shadows of Mindor! Stover really needs to come back for a canon novel or two.

If you show a pile of some bloodied Imperial armor, (or could just look like the helmets were smashed in) in a cutaway as they’re getting ready to cook Luke and company, that establishes that the Ewoks can be mean little buggers in large numbers. Han could be looking at it before he says “I got a bad feeling about this.”

This too.

I’d like to suggest completely removing the Leia and Wicket scene. Add a bit of tension wondering where she is, and the Ewoks seem more of a threat if you haven’t seen one nibbling snacks from a stranger and frightened of helmets.

If it makes you feel better the fanedit I’m working on of the film does this. The thread is around here somewhere I don’t post in it much because I’m very on again off again when it comes to working on it, one of these days I’m just going to randomly surprise everybody with it being done.

But without that scene, how does Leia appear in Ewok the village?
And even if she gets there somehow, we don’t know why she wasn’t served for lunch, while Han is certainly getting prepared to be the dinner.
Because one thing is certain, that the Ewoks are not a friendy bunch, and they like to eat people, despite how they look like.
So it is not very realistic that a human female can talk herself out of being eaten, especially if she does not speak the language.
I guess it is safe to say, logically she can not be in the village, without building trust first, what the scene offers that you want to delete.

As you say, there is a logical connection that we make. She is seen there in a dress with braided hair - clearly not in danger. It doesn’t impact the main plot to not show how she got to be there safely, and actually sidetracks from the important plot points to some degree. It also sets a precedent of Ewoks not being a threat which makes the capture scene feel more like a game at the Teddy Bear Picnic.

You don’t have to cut the entire Wicket scene. You can just show his feet and appear as he approaches, use some darker music, then cut away. It makes the connection and implies danger, yet leaves out the cutsie stuff.

This right here.

I would like Interdictor cruisers in the background during the battle. They don’t have to be mentioned, it’d just be nice to see them. Maybe the new pilots could talk about needing to take them out?

Oh God yes, I’ve always wished there were Interdictors in the fleet at Endor.

Also happy to hear that we’ll eventually get to hear what your PT:R ideas were, Ady. Not terribly upset you won’t be tackling them, but I am very interested to hear what might have been.
