Haha, I actually fell back on one of my old “distract myself” tricks - making a list.
This time I compiled a couple of chronological Batman: TAS, Superman/Batman, and DCAU-in-general lists into a single unified list and split them into TV “seasons.” It wasted 2-3 hours and I was sleepy when I was done, so it worked. Even though I’ll probably never use the list I made.

That’s an example of “modernized” grading on a 20-year-old movie, so yeah, I agree with you there. Cameron seems to have a problem with that…
Now regrading, say, Avatar, on the other hand - that’s just a waste of time IMO.
Ooh, I think I got the Third Stage and Alternative Redux backwards. The one with the two prologues is the one I wasn’t a big fan of.
I definitely think some of the regrades I’ve seen are worthwhile, but some go overboard. I don’t think any movie made in the last 10-15 years or so needs it unless you’re doing something significantly different with it - removing a “blanket tint” from the latest Captain America just seems wildly unnecessary to me.
There are some exceptions - the Fellowship of the Ring Extended BR is in dire need of a regrade (while I like kk650’s, it’s not perfect) - but mostly, unless it’s an older movie whose colors are obviously out of whack (Star Wars) or given revisionist “modernized” grading (Aliens), regrading is generally a case of finding fault because you’re looking for it rather than because it’s there.

Obviously I don’t know the situation but maybe there’s more to it that you don’t know and it turns out to be a misunderstanding or miscommunication. I know I’ve made that mistake before.
Probably, and I’m not actually upset at one of them because I know they’re just working too much to have time for anything else, but when one of my friends has only seen me in the last two weeks to borrow money and makes excuses for why they can’t hang out when they know I’m depressed and isolation makes it worse, I tend to stop caring if it’s a miscommunication or not. Which might not be fair on my part, but whatever.
I’m not saying I’ve actually been abandoned by my friends, but that’s very much how it feels.
Luckily as it happens I’m now going to visit one of my older friends in Chicago over the weekend, so unless something throws up a roadblock against that, it’ll probably help put me in a better headspace.

Is anyone else bothered by the carbonite thawing? I’m not just talking about the effects, but also the body mold imprint that Harrison Ford fell out of. I always felt that it wasn’t very form fitting and that the “hole” was too large for Harrison. When all parts are taken as a whole, I don’t feel that the scene has aged particularly well.
That scene bothers me more because Boushh (Leia) lets Han fall out of the encasement straight onto the hard floor. I guess one could rationalize it by saying he needed a solid jolt to start his heart again, but it still seems rather… brutal.
And now I’ll never be able to watch that scene without thinking about this. Dammit.
If we’re throwing pie-in-the-sky names out there, Duncan Jones would be my pick. Someone on Reddit also suggested Joseph Kosinski, which I’d be down with, having thoroughly enjoyed both Tron Legacy and Oblivion.

Not the Lynch movie, but my favorite Dune edit by far is Spence’s movie cut of the SciFi Channel miniseries.
As far as the Lynch movie goes, Third Stage and Alternative Redux are both good. I’d probably give the edge to Alternative Redux.
Here’s hoping Villeneuve’s movie makes all prior versions irrelevant…
