Lastly i’ve decided where i’m going to upload my new modern releases. I will be using torrents from now on, not file hosting sites like before. Everybody that wants to know where, sent me a PM and i’ll let you know.

Not keen on even how to send a pm on this forum so I opened a private topic asking for the decided torrent site. Since others probably want to know this too, will older releases like Last of the Mohicans and such get torrents?

A private topic is a PM on this forum, so you did it right!

Info Wanted: What Prequel edits add the most DELETED content?
Time

A lot of prequel edits add in deleted scenes, but they also cut scenes and trim them throughout.

I’d recommend checking out HAL 9000’s edits, which include several deleted scenes for each film (this especially helps AOTC), or l8wrtr’s, which might be a better choice for you for ROTS, since you seem to want as little cut as possible, and HAL cut the Yoda/Palpatine fight entirely (l8wrtr left it in).

Doctor Who: The Enemy Within - The TV Movie Recut [PROJECT DEAD]
Time

I mean…you could’ve made a new thread instead of bumping a 5-year-old one for a dead project, but okay. This was one of those things I started but was never able to finish that I kinda hoped everyone had just forgotten about.

Then again, threads like this are the reason I don’t talk about projects I’m working on until they’re basically finished anymore (hence why I have no currently-active project threads, since nothing I’m working on is even close), so seeing one of them rise from the dead kind of works as a “don’t talk about shit you’ll probably never finish” reminder.

Why’s it easier to cut the origami shot? The dream comes out much more cleanly, and the origami shot still has meaning without the dream (Gaff is telling Deckard that escaping with Rachel is just a fantasy that can never be real). The dream, on the other hand, means nothing without the origami shot at the end.

MOVIE-CENSORSHIP.COM has only a comparison between the ALIEN theatrical version and the director’s cut.

I don’t have a Blu-ray drive, so cannot provide any screen shots.

Anybody still owning the old QUADRILOGY DVD box set - or the 2003 2-disc DVD release of ALIEN - as well as the current ANTHOLOGY Blu-ray release, (or just the Blu-ray release of ALIEN) can check for themselves.

I’ve the Anthology Blu-ray disc release. 1999 DVD release too. Kind of counts but I have no idea why it should.

Movie-Censorship.com has tons of version comparisons so there’s that.

The 1999 DVD release of ALIEN was only the theatrical cut. To view the differences between the 2003 & 2010 DIRECTOR’S CUTS, you need the 2003 DVD release of ALIEN (which included both the theatrical and the then new director’s cut) and the 2010 ALIEN Blu-ray (which also includes both cuts).

An example: The bonus creature shot of the Alien dangling near the chains above Brett before it attacks. This shot is exclusive to both director’s cuts. Compare that shot between the 2003 & 2010 director’s cuts and you will see they are different takes of the same scene. The camera pans up and almost past the Alien (for the 2003 version), and for the 2010 version the camera is still and stays on the Alien

I checked your link and there is only a comparison between the ALIEN theatrical and director’s cut but no comparison between the two versions of the director’s cut (2003 & 2010).

There are literally THOUSANDS of comparisons on that site I linked for movies.

Yes, there are. It’s a great resource.

But it doesn’t have a comparison between the 2003 and 2010 versions of Alien, just a comparison between the 1978 and 2003 versions, so I don’t know why you keep arguing about how many comparisons the site has in this context.

Anyone have thoughts on Dishonored? I picked up the PS4 “Definitive Edition” the other day for like $10 while I was looking for (and failing to find) a copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider at my local non-Gamestop shop.

Haven’t popped it in yet, just curious what I should be expecting. I see it’s Bethesda-published, but produced by a different studio - is it in any way like Elder Scrolls or Fallout 3/NV/4, or completely different?

An official restoration isn’t happening any time soon, as those early DCAU cartoons were edited on video. It’d take a lot of effort to get it done. Maybe they will sometime, but I don’t think the demand is there.

I wouldn’t mind an upscale project, but the DVDs suit me just fine for now.

Think you’re in the wrong thread.

Well, the night shift guy I’m supposed to be in the final stages of training - who is a friend of a friend that I got in here because we desperately needed someone for night shift and he was the only one to respond to my Facebook post - is now 2 and a half hours late. Tried texting him twice and called him 5 times now, and no answer.

Plus the first shift guy is going on indefinite medical leave starting Monday, and the girl who’s on essentially a floater shift (between first and second) already covered nights for 2 months before we got this guy in, so if he’s fired (which he probably will be) after tonight, that means there’s only 2 of us in the lab now.

Which means I’m going to be stuck on 12-hour night shifts 5-6 days a week for at least a month now, and that’s assuming we manage to hire someone for third shift, like, tomorrow. And that they work out.

I’m so very fucking over this shit. I want to get back to my normal noon-10 shift, which was supposed to happen on Monday, but now god fucking knows when or if that will ever happen.

I guess at least I’ll be able to save a lot more money while I have no time to do anything but work and sleep for the foreseeable future.

That really sucks man…

Yep.

Also, had a funny feeling about an hour ago so I looked up the county jail inmate records (he’s in a drug court program and NA and has to have a court hearing every Thursday) and guess what? He’s in jail until Sunday.

Guess that explains both the no call and the no show.

damn. i can certainly relate to the frustration of not having enough people (good people) as coworkers, but i have never had that kind of impact from it on me personally. hope something gets figured out soon!

Thanks, me too. For the first time in years I feel like I’m dangerously close to a legitimate nervous breakdown and there really isn’t anything I can do to stop it.

Right now it’s 7:15am and I’ve already drunk a quarter bottle of whiskey since I got home at 6:30. This is not sustainable. I don’t know how I’m going to deal with the coming days/weeks/possibly months.

The Place to Go for Emotional Support

My father is back in the hospital. As some may recall, nearly 14 months ago, he had a heart attack of such severity and with such serious consequences that he should have died. Amazingly (and in my opinion, thanks to God), he survived. Well, on Sunday he fainted and was taken to the ER. It was a mild thing and he thought little of it, but he listened to the pleadings of my mother and went, where they ended up holding him “overnight”. At first, it appeared that he was simply dehydrated, but his EKG showed premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). His cardiac rhythms have been abnormal since his heart attack (as they usually are), but this was a new development. His cardiologist decided to go ahead and order an echocardiogram, which resulted in an ejection fraction (EF) of 35%. His previous EF was 55%, which is the low end of normal. Further investigation has revealed coronary arterial calcification, which means more blockage of the blood vessels that feed the heart. So the plan is to ship him to Tucson once again (where he spent the bulk of his treatment and recovery last year) where his arteries are going to get a Roto-Rooter. This is very treatable, much more so than his episode last year, but nevertheless, it is concerning.

Hope everything goes well with your dad, Ender. Glad to hear it’s something that’s treatable.

I’ve been there, man. In a lot of ways I’m still there, but it’s getting better little by little.

The best advice I can give (if I’m even qualified to give such advice) is to start with one thing and focus on that. Once that’s taken care of, move on to the next thing.

Easier said than done, I know, but if you try to do all of it at once you’ll never get to where you want to be.

Thanks for the local context. All this stuff I picked up ages ago out of curiosity and a paper I did on the MPAA in college.

I seem to remember there being a lighter rating for kids, too - “Uc” or something, maybe?

There is an R18 rating in the UK - usually reserved for specially licenced sex shops and cinemas.
An E rating also exists for ‘exempt’ - usually sport, music and educational videos - though I can’t remember seeing one for a long time now; the E rating, not the R18, obviously 😃

Spend a lot of time in those sex shops, do you? 😉

UK ratings are:

  • U (equivalent to US “G”)
  • PG (equivalent to US “PG”)
  • 12/12A (equivalent to US “PG-13;” from here on out, no one under the specified age is allowed in the theater or to purchase a copy, period - EXCEPT for 12A, which is theaters-only and a recent addition; under 12 requires adult accompaniment; 12A movies are all 12 on home video, so no one under 12 is allowed to buy them at all)
  • 15 (kind of a split equivalent to either a hard “PG-13” or a soft “R,” depending on the movie)
  • 18 (equivalent to a hard “R” or an “NC-17”)

So if a movie is rated R in the US, it might be either a 15 or 18 in the UK. And the other ratings aren’t 100% for sure analogs, either - some PG-13 US movies might be PG in the UK, some might be 12A/12, some might be 15.

The other important thing to note is that UK ratings are mandatory for all media - it’s illegal to distribute a movie unrated in the UK, whereas in the US it’s not a law at all, just generally difficult to market and distribute unless it’s digital or home video.

Recommended Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings games for PS2, GameCube, GBA, DS, PC? The LEGO ones are obvious for both. Battle for Middle Earth duology is also obvious for the latter. Already have quite a lot and know about “Paradise” site.

Harry Potter literally didn’t exist for me when I was 10 in 1989.

I’m confused - were these games recommended to you? Are you asking if we would recommend them? Are you recommending them to us? Why make the point about the non-existence of Harry Potter at the seemingly arbitrary age of 10 for you?

I like several songs on every album I’ve heard but also thought several songs were clunkers on every album I’ve heard, so I only own a collection of songs and no full albums.

I understand and mostly agree, but my tastes shift enough that I might find myself listening to a track now that I hated a month ago, so if I like enough of an album I’ll just get the whole thing.

I do still think The Suburbs is a near-perfect masterpiece, though.
