Doctor Who
Time

I just hope Graham, Yaz, and Ryan are all done after this season. If they’re still around I’m probably sitting out until they are. They just suck all enthusiasm I have for the show away. Worst nuWho companions by far for me.

Maybe it’s just because of the excessive size of the TARDIS team (2 companions should be the max), I dunno. But they are all complete vacuums of charisma IMO.

Star Wars Episode I: Cloak Of Deception (Released)

On a side note, your 97 ROTJ Audio, gout sync (for 4k83) still has yub nub rather than victory celebration, and wasn’t sure if this was intentional (like I said, utter newby to any video alterations, so I have probably misunderstood what the audio file actually is).

Isn’t the point of the GOUT synced 97 audio to make a “true” 5.1 audio track for the original version? The original version had Yub Nub, so…

Chronologically Lost HD (Remaster of Mike Maloney's edit) (Released) <strong>SEND PM FOR LINKS, DON'T REPLY ON THREAD</strong>
Time

I found a version a while back that the link poster claimed was Lost Chrono, but it was just a more amateurish version of strict chronological order like Chronologically Lost is.

I suppose it’s possible that Lost Chrono being in “causological” order (thanks for that term, EddieDean!) is a rumor that was never true and the copy I found years back was Lost Chrono…

What set of the official retail releases to buy, so I can acquire fan projects?

Hi I’m epso-sage. I am newer here and am finally trying to get everything download and ready to view but I want to be legal and I am trying to see what copy I can buy to make that happen.
This is the I-VI set
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B003ZSJ212/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_apa_i_cwSsEbN09JKHC
But it is not listed under the TUIG and just wanted to see if anyone knows if this will work. It’s the same price as the IV-VI Blu Ray set so that’s a big deal.
Thanks in advance.

The version you linked will be fine for all current PT/OT projects.

I have also used MakeMKV to extract Adywan’s ANH DVD9 from his iso, and will happily put that on my Google drive for others to download if interested.

Something like this already exists - specifically, someone took the higher resolution PAL DVD9 video track (720x576), changed the framerate flag to 23.976fps, and muxed in the NTSC DVD9 Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track into an MKV.

It’s the best video quality available (highest resolution) combined with the best audio quality available (no PAL speedup) without any reencoding done to either track. I know it’s uploaded on MySpleen and has been shared elsewhere as well.

The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

Yeah, I don’t know how “in-continuity” any of the Jay and Silent Bob movies are - I think Jason Lee plays both his Mallrats character AND his Chasing Amy character in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but not his Dogma character, though Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is a direct sequel to Strike Back and directly references the events of Dogma, but Ben Affleck plays his Chasing Amy character in Reboot and not his Mallrats or Dogma characters…

Is MySpleen down?
Time

Before they went down there was a post on the main page saying they were A) thinking about maybe possibly migrating the entire site eventually someday, and that B) they were running low on funds for keeping the site running for the first time in a while. Not sure if either of those things are a factor in whatever is going on at the moment.

Star Wars Episode IX (was) to be directed by Colin Trevorrow - DUEL OF THE FATES RIP
Time

I still haven’t properly read the draft, though I did sneakily print it out at work so I don’t have to read it on my phone or laptop (perks of being the only one in the lab on night shift with access to a laser printer), so I’m gonna try to dive into it today.

But I challenge everyone who’s read this draft to go back and read the rough/first or second drafts of Star Wars and think about how much changed between then and filming and remind yourself that that’s what this DOTF draft is, not what would have been filmed had Trevorrow not been replaced.

You need to remove Greedo in the Cantina as this was a re-shoot to pair everything down then. I prefer the way it was done without the Jabba scene in terms how the handled it though.

No, definitely no.
The Cantina scene with Greedo is in the fourth script (Jan.1976)

Yeah, the Greedo cantina scene not a reshoot - when the Jabba scene was cut, the dialgoue in the Greedo scene was altered (by changing Greedo’s subtitles and lifting a Han line directly from the Jabba scene) to give the same information that the Jabba scene did. When they restored the Jabba scene in 1997, though, they forgot to revert the Greedo scene back to its originally-filmed state.

The Greedo scene is not a re-shoot but it was obviously caught that the Jabba scene was not working so the Jabba scene it would seem was discarded way before Tosche station and Biggs and so on all the other stuff.

There is no mention of the Jabba scene being in the Lost Cut.

https://starwarz.com/tbone/the-lost-cut-of-star-wars/

This is interesting as it means the Lost Cut is NOT an assembly

Jesus dude, this is asinine. I’m done. Have fun in this thread you guys.

When they restored the Jabba scene in 1997, though, they forgot to revert the Greedo scene back to its originally-filmed state.

From the shooting script (March 1976 revised fourth draft):

ALIEN
Going somewhere, Solo?

HAN
As a matter of fact, I was just going to see your boss. Tell Jabba that I have his money.

ALIEN
That’s what you said yesterday, but it’s too late… I’m not going back to Jabba with another one of your stories.

HAN
But I’ve got the money this time!

ALIEN
Then I’ll take it now.

Han sits down and the alien sits across from him holding the gun on him.

HAN
I haven’t got it here with me. Tell Jabba…

ALIEN
It’s too late I think. Jabba would rather have your ship.

HAN
Over my dead body.
ALIEN
That’s the idea, Solo. You will come outside with me or must I finish it here?

HAN
I don’t think they’d like another killing in here.

ALIEN
They’d hardly notice… get up. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time…

HAN
I bet you have…

Suddenly the slimy alien disappears in a blinding flash of light. Han pulls his smoking gun from beneath the table as the other patrons look on in bemused amazement.

HAN
…but it will take a lot more than the likes of you to finish me off…

Han gets up and starts out of the cantina, flipping the bartender some coins as he leaves.

HAN
Sorry for the mess…

Notice Greedo never says “Jabba has no time for smugglers who drop their shipments” yadda yadda (Jabba dialogue), and no “Even I get boarded sometimes, do you think I had a choice?” from Han, which is the line lifted directly from the Jabba scene (it’s the exact same take used in both scenes in the 1997/2004/2011/2019 versions).

As scripted and filmed, the Greedo and Jabba scene were both meant to be in the film. When they cut the one, they modified the other to make sure no information was lost.
