Just finished episode 3 of Mindhunter on Netflix. Pretty good so far, if a little on the dry and slow side - it’s like a very long Zodiac so far. The Kemper interviews are the most interesting aspect to me at the moment.

Fair enough, I’d just woken up after not checking the forum for ~12 hours and saw a shitload of new posts on it and this thread bumped with even more discussion of it. I hadn’t really looked at post times when I made my comment.

Not sure how to feel about this. It has some great jokes but I feel life if I were to fanedit it, there are many serious moments that would have worked so much better if you took out a stiff joke that already feels very shoved in.

The set design and music in the film were highlights, and I really started to like it more towards the end, but it did feel a bit hollow.

Saw it earlier today and this sums things up pretty well for me too. Felt like too much of a tonal whiplash from the rest of the franchise, and Thor himself felt very out of character.

I’m also very disappointed that, after sidelining Sif for to movies, they straight up ignore her existence in this one…ugh.

Fun movie, but perhaps fun in the wrong ways at the wrong times? Waititi maybe should have been put on a different MCU film…

I do not, however, watch anime nor nitpick about how english subtitles with original japanese VO are superior to english dubs.

Regardless of country of origin, the original voicework with subtitles is always superior to an english dub. I had to watch a load of foreign films in college and the english dubs were always unwatchable.

There are some exceptions, like Spaghetti Westerns. They dubbed some of the actors lines in English, since they originally spoke in their native tongue.

Technically, most spaghetti westerns are dubs no matter what, since they were filmed silent to save money and they just had the actors speak in their native language on set (English, Italian, and Spanish most of the time). All dialogue was dubbed in after the fact for every language, even the “original” Italian.

That’s why some of the sync in, say, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - even for the American actors who spoke English on set and dubbed themselves for the English track - is obviously off so much of the time.

So for most spaghetti westerns, there really is no “original” audio track.

Also, I have to say that while I agree wholeheartedly about seeing live action material in its original language with subs, for animated stuff I’ll usually go for the dub, though I usually try to give the original a listen, if not the first time through, and sometimes I end up preferring the sub even for animated stuff. I still don’t like Spike’s English voice for Cowboy Bebop because I watched it subbed first and the personalities are just so different…

Just finished up my last night shift! So happy to finally be back to my normal shift on Monday (and no more 12s, either)!

Of course, my last night shift had to be daylight savings night, which means I actually worked 13 hours, but only get paid for 12. They justify it by spring daylight savings being an 11 hour shift that’s paid as 12, but I wasn’t on night shift then so I didn’t get that benefit, and I sincerely hope I won’t be on night shift next spring.

Oh well, it’s worth losing the $18.47 I would have made in the extra hour to finally be done with this night shift hell.

Now to stay up all day so I can sleep tonight to be back at work at noon on Monday…

I was under the impression that the extended cut was going to be a composite cut of Part I and II as one long-ass movie after II is released, with additional footage added to both. I also heard that they were filming additional scenes for Part I that they didn’t have time/money for the first time around while filming Part II, but I’m not certain of either of those things.

If you have Harmy’s Despecialized, they’re all available on the MKV, the 77/80/83 mixes in lossless DTS-HD form and the 85/93 mixes in lossy AC3.

Unless you’re specifically looking for the PCM versions, or don’t have Despecialized in MKV (the AVCHDs are all lossy AC3, and I think they don’t include the 85/93 mixes, though I could be wrong about that).
