I’m waiting until they solve burn-in on OLEDs. I miss my old Panasonic plasma - gorgeous picture, perfect blacks, but that fucking burn-in…and based on the OLED phone’s I’ve had and what I’ve seen of burn-in tests on OLED TVs, they’re at least as bad as plasmas, if not worse.

I’d still buy a 4K UHD plasma in a heartbeat if anyone made one, though.

Just got my first 4K TV. Wasn’t even planning on it either, and don’t have anyway to watch 4K.

Haha, I did this Halloween weekend - ordered a Samsung MU7000 while I was drunk because it happened to be $200 cheaper than usual on Amazon. It’s definitely an upgrade over the 32" I’ve been using for years.

Now I’ve gotta decide whether it’s worth it to shell out $400 for a hacked region-free UHD BD player, or stick with $150 for a Region 1/A one…

If they take a year off, it’ll be an anthology year (2026 maybe). But we’re definitely getting a SW movie a year for the foreseeable future, as a combination of trilogies and one-offs.

I could maybe see them ditching solo anthologies for a while and do two parallel trilogies, but I definitely don’t see them switching to an every-other-year schedule at this point.

…it’ll run parallel to the next sequel trilogy…

Nah, no way. This is what’s going to replace the trilogy format while they take a break from the Skywalker saga to keep it a generational thing. It’ll be:

  • 2015: Episode VII
  • 2016: Rogue One
  • 2017: Episode VIII
  • 2018: Solo
  • 2019: Episode IX
  • 2020: Kenobi
  • 2021: Johnson I
  • 2022: Anthology
  • 2023: Johnson II
  • 2024: Anthology
  • 2025: Johnson III
  • 2026: Anthology
  • 2027: Episode X (just in time for the 50th anniversary)
  • 2028: Anthology
  • 2029: Episode XI
  • 2030: Anthology
  • 2031: Episode XII
  • 2032: Anthology
  • 2033: Side trilogy B-I
  • 2034: Anthology
  • 2035: Side trilogy B-II
  • 2036: Anthology
  • 2037: Side trilogy B-III
  • 2038: Anthology
  • 2039: Episode XIII

And so on until the end of time.

I’d be shocked if they break from this pattern outside of taking a year off, but I’d also be shocked if they don’t want the 50th anniversary year to kick off the second sequel trilogy (aka Episode X-XII).

I don’t care how much you give me, I may get corrupted because I am human, but I will never stick my hands on a woman where they don’t belong.

This has to more to do than just power.

Maybe there’s something about Hollywood that attracts that sort of person. Or, even scarier, perhaps that sort of person is just much more likely to succeed.

https://www.alternet.org/culture/10-careers-most-psychopaths

http://www.cbc.ca/doczone/features/psychopaths-top-10-and-bottom-10-professions

It’s not specific to Hollywood, it’s everywhere. The only reason we’re hearing about this stuff from Hollywood is because we know those peoples names, and often the names of the victims. People in less famous professions aren’t so lucky (or ones in professions where political affiliation will save you from any amount of heinous crimes).

I didn’t say it was specific to Hollywood, just that it may be more commonplace in Hollywood than other professions. And you’re right, it is only a big deal because these people are famous. If this kind of abuse was happening in the Lawyer ‘industry;’ I doubt people would even hear about it, and those that did probably wouldn’t care beyond a passing “that’s unfortunate.”

Maybe it is more commonplace to an extent, due to the nature of things like the auditioning process, dressing rooms and such, but this kind of thing is commonplace everywhere. It’s happening in law, I can assure you that. And, I know that was just a random example, but it’s one of the most dangerous professions for this, as the predators there know exactly how to get away with it.

Part of it is also the “gig” nature of entertainment work - you’re working with these people for a few weeks or months at a time, then the gig is done and you never have to see them again. This breeds both predatory behavior and silencing of victims, whereas in most fields, you’re stuck with the same people for years at a time, so a predator is less likely to go after someone if they know they’re always going to be around, and a victim is more likely to speak up if they have to see their predator for God knows how long.

Old Republic trilogy, calling it now.

Whether Revan is in it or not is up in the air for me (I’d say it’s likely to include either Revan or Bane), but I bet Mandalore will be a major focus.

This isn’t being directed and written by filoni

Actually, apparently Bob Iger also announced a live action TV series to shareholders, too, so I’m changing my prediction to the TV series being Old Republic/Mandalore, and the Johnson trilogy being something wholly unexpected.
