I’ve honestly never understood the complaints about Ryder’s performance. I thought she did a fantastic job in both seasons.

Don’t you think that - to put it nicely - she tends to “over-act” every single second of every single of her scenes ? Let’s say she’s got an unusual way to play… It’s pretty rare that someone is as pleased with her as you are in fact (all lovers of the show I know admit she’s the weak link… it’ the first time I read “she’s fantastic in both seasons”).

No, I don’t think she overacted at all. Her son was kidnapped, crazy shit started happening, people started acting like she was crazy, and I thought she reacted appropriately and realistically to all of that. And in season 2, Ryder dialed a lot of that back, which makes sense because her character wasn’t on the edge of insanity for half the season.

Really, honestly, I don’t understand the “overacting” complaints. She was (and still is) one of my favorite things about the show.

Finished season 2 today. (Spoilers probably?)

Overall, a very good sequel that I think might be elevated by later seasons, as I think a lot of this season was “setting the board” for where things go from here.

My main issue with season 2 is a lack of focus. Everyone was doing their own thing in season 1, too, but from the start we knew that all of their stories revolved around Will’s disappearance, whether the characters were aware or not, which made it very satisfying when it all came together and no one’s story felt like filler or wasted.

In season 2, everyone has their own story again, but it’s not clear what any of them have to do with the main thrust of the season until the end, and even then some of it feels contrived. In particular, Eleven’s story (especially episode 7) felt very disconnected from everything else, and the way she comes back into the fray for the finale felt a little too “deus ex machina” for me.

Season 1 = 8/10; Season 2 = 7/10

Also, fuck Nancy and Jonathan. They’re both shitty people and they deserve each other. Steve is the best.

I’m trying to cut my soda consumption down to three cans a week, but it’s so damn hard.

It’s easier if you don’t have any in the fridge.

I used to drink a can a day (maybe two) in college, then decided to drop soda. My sleep patterns improved.

This exactly.

The only soda consumption I’ve had in the last year is as a mixer with alcohol. (Drinking bourbon and ginger beer right now, actually.)

I’ll look into that on Monday if I remember.

Make sure you take the option of getting your insurance payments taken out before taxes if it’s offered. You’ll lose more money if it’s taken out after taxes (as the tax percentage would be calculated from the pre-deduction gross pay, but the insurance deduction is a fixed amount - better to have the taxes calculated from the smaller, post-deduction gross pay).

I think from that perspective, Adywan’s version of the Emperor scene is by far the best.

I would agree if it weren’t sped up. I get that he was trying to make it match the original performance and ROTJ better but with his inflections and delivery it just sounds unnatural to me. It definitely looks the best tho

Really? I didn’t notice a speedup at all. Huh.

Ah, yes, “reasons”.

  1. Jedi use Ilum crystals, which only come in blue and green. Sith use synthetic crystals, which only come in red.
  2. Jedi sentinels use blue crystals while Jedi consulars use green.
  3. Kyber crystal colours reflect the affiliation/temperament of their users.

Blah blah blah bullshit.

Aesthetics and symbolism are the only valid reasons for any lightsaber colour.

How is it “bullshit”?

It’s bullshit because all the stuff you quoted is no longer canon anyway (for example, there’s now no such thing as a synthetic crystal in canon), and new bullshit has been made up to replace it (crystal “bleeding”). And none of it matters to the films themselves anyway.

Star Wars: Heir to the Force (TFA edit) <em>Released</em>
Time

It was an insert shot that was originally supposed to go in the “Vader prayer” scene. It’s meant to be Vader’s ashes, and they were meant to have been stored in Ren’s quarters along with Vader’s helmet, but then they decided to have Ren keep his helmet on for the “prayer” scene and for some reason Abrams thought the shot fit during the interrogation scene.

So as it stands now, Ren apparently interrogates prisoners next to Vader’s ashes.

Since Luke’s green lightsaber is one of the better elements* of ROTJ, I’d prefer it not be re-coloured blue.

*Divorced from the nonsense of the prequels, Luke’s green lightsaber signifies his individuality and distinctiveness from the Jedi who came before him.

There are REASONS some lightsabers are blue and others are green.

In the prequels? Not really. Any such “reasons” are EU retcons that have since been retconned away with the canon reset.

Is there any way I can get my hands on the poster art from the front of this awesome cover? It’s incredible.

JEDIT: Got un-lazy and found it myself. It’s a licensed print by Grzegorz “Gabz” Domaradzki. Here’s his TFA print on his site (he’s got a ton of other awesome art on there from other films, too), and here’s the highest resolution I was able to find. If anyone has it at even higher res, let me know, please!

I don’t remember any of my US sets having squished crawls they were all P&S. I had the late 80s/early 90s set with the yellow logos, and then the 95 Faces set after that.

This set?:-

Absolutely love the artwork used on that - think I must have worn those tapes out constantly playing them back then 😃

I think the above set came out in 1990, with a Letterbox Edition set released 2/3 years later - with some different artwork/colouring of text on the back covers.

Yep! That’s the one I grew up with! We didn’t get the Faces set until I wore out both ESB and ROTJ (I think that was 96ish, I remember seeing the SE in theaters not long after we got the new set).

I made a DVD cover set based on those tapes ages so (actually, custom DVD art is where I started out on this forum back when I was, what, 14? 😛) but I don’t know if I still have it. I’d like to make a Blu-Ray set for all the films based on those tapes, actually…I might start working on that this weekend actually…
