Pretty sure everybody’s ignoring me again. I’m growing tired of them.

I had thoughts like this about my only two close IRL friends around November/December (I think I even posted about it here a little). Turned out that one was working, like, 6 weeks worth of 12-hour night shifts and the other had just started dating someone new and was nervous about me meeting the guy given our history (well…my history of reacting badly to things like that given my feelings toward her).

Point is, while it’s certainly possible that you’re right, it’s also very possible that they just have other shit going on that’s taking priority. God knows I’m shit at keeping in touch with people when I’ve got “more important things” happening.

Try not to focus on the negative possibility. But in the meantime, also try and put yourself out there and meet some new people, just in case the negative possibility ends up being the truth. And even if it doesn’t, then hey, maybe you meet a new friend to add to the group!

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi has a Music-Only Cut available as a Bonus Feature’…

http://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-the-last-jedi-music-only-cut/

Only available through Movies Anywhere’s digital platform, not on any of the physical discs.

So who’s gonna get that and rip the audio track from it to share with the rest of us? 😃

Well, that’s it. Mueller can go home now. There’s no basis to any of it. Cue the pardons!

I have to subscribe to read the full article? Fuck off, WSJ.

WSJ? Who is that? btw, I could not read the whole article, it said something about have to sign in or sign up and I am not going to do that.

This made me chuckle because you asked what I meant, then basically paraphrased my post.

And CatBus is correct. Thankfully yhwx posted a link to avoid the paywall, which I quoted at the top of this page if you’d like to read it without subscribing to WSJ.

Well the left leaning bias is on full display here. I have no doubt if a major Republican politician claimed to be part Native American and didn’t look anything like a Native American, people in here would be saying take a DNA test or fess up.

I don’t know if people in here would be saying that but I’m pretty sure there would be plenty of mocking.

On the topic of bias and arguments, this article on “progressive hostility” looks compelling. I’ve only read a little of it but I’ve heard similar complaints from people I know.

When I disagree with a conservative friend or colleague on some political issue, I have no fear of speaking my mind. I talk, they listen, they respond, I talk some more, and at the end of it we get along just as we always have. But I’ve discovered that when a progressive friend says something with which I disagree or that I know to be incorrect, I’m hesitant to point it out.

truth.

Ah yes, only Conservatives are rational. Yay.

that is not what I said.

You quoted an article that said that, and proclaimed it “truth.”

I quoted part of the article and proclaimed it “truth”.

The part I quoted does not say that only Conservatives are rational.

Let’s look back:

When I disagree with a conservative friend or colleague on some political issue, I have no fear of speaking my mind. I talk, they listen, they respond, I talk some more, and at the end of it we get along just as we always have.

In short, Conservatives are rational.

But I’ve discovered that when a progressive friend says something with which I disagree or that I know to be incorrect, I’m hesitant to point it out.

Or; I won’t argue with progressives because I fear they are not rational.

interesting interpretation.

Seems like the only interpretation to me. How did you interpret it?

That some Liberals take disagreement more personally. That some Liberals are more offended by disagreement.

Yeah, whole bunch of snowflakes, amirite or amirite?

oh ffs.

Isn’t that basically what you said?

no.

Tell me how.

taking disagreement more personally and/or being more offended by disagreement does not = being a snowflake. At least not in my book.

In your book, what does being a snowflake mean?

I assumed by snowflake you meant someone who was wimpy and/or cowardly and/or weak and/or something like that, and that is not what I meant by any of my comments.

Alright. The prosecution rests.

For now.

Why do you see yourself as some sort of Prosecutor and me as some sort of Defendant?

He’s joking, Warb.

And “snowflake” in this context means someone who thinks they’re unique and special and therefore are always right about everything.

As a progressive, I find this article to be depressingly accurate. And I’ll definitely admit that I’m often guilty of this, too.

But as was stated a few times already, it’s anecdotal. It lines up with your experience, with some of us others here, it doesn’t.

Sure, I wasn’t saying it isn’t anecdotal.

Which is fine. My issue is declaring it “truth” like it’s some universal constant.

I read it as Warbler saying it was true for him/his experience, not that it was objective truth.

Back on topic: I vote for Luke and Leia not be siblings and you try to leave the idea of the “other” ambiguous - in a way where it could be interpreted that the other is Vader. (If possible)

I very much agree with this.

Apparently Fergie (of The Black Eyed Peas) did a terribad rendition of the national anthem at the NBA All-Star game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5cOvyDpWfM&t=12s

they should find someone with ability to sing it, someone whose singing style fits the Anthem sung straight. The Anthem is not rap, rock, swing, or Jazz song.

I entirely agree. Sing it straight or find someone else who can.

I entirely disagree. We should just stop signing the national anthem at sporting events.

I’m late to this discussion, but I agree. It has nothing to do with sports.

What about at video game and/or chess tournaments?

Dang, we should have had Frink sing the anthem before my match with Ender.

I insist we have this for all future matches.

No pre-recorded shit, either. It’s got to be a live stream every time.
