I still think it’d be nice to add a bit of the Imperial March to the scene when Vader arrives on the Tantive, though that would mean replacing a small bit of original music.

I already created a brief edit to show what that might look and sound like. It’s minimalist, but it works.

That’s exactly how it played out in my head. Very happy you tried this out and that it worked so well. Thanks for sharing!

John Williams says IX will be his last.

I’m a huge fan of R1’s score and think it is on par with the Williams’ ones. In fact it’s better than AotC, but imo worse than the rest. haven’t listened to TLJ enough to have an opinion on that compared to the rest but yeah, Giacchino is pretty awesome.

and I’m glad Mr. Williams decided to go out like that, and not by natural causes, as the latter would’ve been pretty tragic. this way he goes out with style, having scored the (entire?) episodic saga.

If the saga didn’t end with III, it’s going to last until the end of time 😉

You know, I would’ve thought the same, but with how much they seem to be expanding the non-episodic side of things (standalone anthology films, Rian’s film trilogy, Benioff & Weiss’ film series, Filoni’s various animated series, and now Jon Favreau’s live action TV series), they’ve got plenty of content and room to expand to either ditch episodes beyond IX entirely, or sit on it for at least a decade before they do X-XII or beyond.

I really wanted to go into the newest Star Wars movie spoiler free, but people on this site have been carelessly referring to the film’s title outside of the spoiler thread, and I consider the title to be a major spoiler. I also saw someone post the movie poster too, and that’s a huge spoiler. I actually saw part of the trailer on Youtube! Now that I’ve been exposed to so many spoilers I just don’t even see a reason to watch the film.

Preferably you should never know what movie you’re seeing or even that you’re going to see a movie. You just wake up one day and everything is dark and suddenly the Star Wars logo appears in front of you and the movie plays. Perhaps the logo should be removed though, to not spoil that it’s a Star Wars movie. In fact, remove all Star Wars tropes, change the actors and the names and the music. And then before the credits it’s written “actually, this was a Star Wars movie, bet you didn’t see that coming!”.

Sounds like a natural progression for Rian’s next Star Wars films.

Sounds like the PT, actually. The ST is basically a bunch of Star Wars-y moments and Star Wars tropes connected by a poorly conceived plot telling an almost interesting although pointless story.

The PT, on the other hand, is nothing like Star Wars with a poorly conceived plot telling a very very good story.

Great, now you’ve spoiled Star Wars for me, I was trying not to even watch the trailers or look at the posters.

Trailers? Posters?!

Well, now you’ve spoiled spoilers for me, Dom. I hope you’re happy.

Yeah, the movie is about actors making a war movie in a jungle in Asia and accidentally getting mixed up in a real conflict.

RDJ plays a white, blond, blue-eyed, Australian method actor who was cast as a black character. As a method actor, he stays in character the entire duration of the shoot, so he’s always in blackface, acting as his character. Early in the movie there’s a montage of his other roles, so the audience and all the characters are fully aware that he’s a white Australian in blackface going overboard with his method acting.

In the movie he says he doesn’t drop character until after the DVD commentary. I’m the commentary for Tropic Thunder, RDJ is in character the whole time.

This is why Tropic Thunder and This Is Spinal Tap are two of the best DVD commentaries of all time. (For reference, the Spinal Tap one is all in-characrer, too.)

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

Ezra being missing is enough explanation for me on his front, but I agree that “Ahsoka isn’t technically a Jedi” is a load of horseshit and her not helping Luke and co. in the OT requires a satisfactory explanation on its own.

Letting her die in the S2 finale would have been perfect, but no, Filoni just can’t bring himself to kill her even though it’s the logical thing to do…
