The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **

Unlike all you QC people, I had to wait to get home from work to watch what all the hullabaloo is about. Can only imagine what defective products reach the market because of OT.

If you use cables with plenum jacketing that we made, they might be slightly softer than the spec says. Also your boot soles might not have quite the tensile strength they technically should, but tensile strength is kind of an irrelevant spec for shoe soles anyway.

Similar to Handman’s news, I got an interview for a job at a museum today. Well, more of a historical society, but still. Here’s hoping I get to leave my dull-as-hell QC job and finally put that art history degree to work as a collections and event photographer at REDACTED.

Hey, you’re in QC too? I actually like my QC job. What field? I’m in thermoplastics/PVC.

I was bitching about it yesterday because I had to pick someone up there, which is like 30-45 more minutes of driving than Midway if I take the toll road (which, you know, costs money), or an added 30-45 minutes on top of that if I don’t.

If I were flying, I’d still prefer Midway, as the layout is less awkwardly sprawling than O’Hare.

To be honest, it’s probably 90% familiarity and proximity for me, since I only use O’Hare maybe 1 out of every 5 times I fly, tops. Every other time I use Midway.

The Last Jedi: Legendary (Released)

I agree with you, but to play devil’s advocate, the blue one symbolizes Luke accepting Rey’s request for help (and his “role in all this”) that he rejected by tossing that same lightsaber aside at the beginning of the film, so changing it to the green one would lose that bit of symbolism.

But again, I’m with you and would prefer it to be the green one, however that would require hilt replacement too, and I don’t know how feasible that is.

I might use the space scenes from “Rose and Finn Go Where They Belong.” The shots … could replace the AT-ST escape.

That was my first thought when I saw that scene. I think it works best if you also include the scene of Poe bringing Finn up to speed at the beginning, since Finn’s “where we belong” line is a callback to Poe saying it in that scene.

Knock it off.

Why do you keep telling mfm to “knock it off” when he’s making valid points about your posts?

In your opinion.

Also in my opinion: telling someone to “knock it off” when they’re arguing a point rather than making personal attacks is childish.

He was doing more than arguing a point.

Disagree

Also disagree.

Knock it off!!

Hey now, I was agreeing with your disagreement!

That teacher has no business teaching anyone gun safety(if I understand gun safety enough). I could be mistaken, but I doubt it.

Why even shoehorn in this little bit of apologetics. You know full well (I hope) that this was absurd and incompetent.

Huh?

You often have a stubborn reluctance to condemn things like this,

Excuse me for wanting to know all of the facts before condemning.

Sometimes this can be construed as you waiting to hear a fact that completely exonerates the person others are condemning, not as you simply wanting the complete picture.

When it’s something that seems as indefensible as the dog dying in the compartment or the gun safety “lesson,” saying you’re waiting for all the facts can sound like you’re saying that you believe the individual to be innocent, and are sticking your fingers in your ears until you hear one nugget of fact that supports the possibility that they did no wrong.

Pretty sure everybody’s ignoring me again. I’m growing tired of them.

I had thoughts like this about my only two close IRL friends around November/December (I think I even posted about it here a little). Turned out that one was working, like, 6 weeks worth of 12-hour night shifts and the other had just started dating someone new and was nervous about me meeting the guy given our history (well…my history of reacting badly to things like that given my feelings toward her).

Point is, while it’s certainly possible that you’re right, it’s also very possible that they just have other shit going on that’s taking priority. God knows I’m shit at keeping in touch with people when I’ve got “more important things” happening.

Try not to focus on the negative possibility. But in the meantime, also try and put yourself out there and meet some new people, just in case the negative possibility ends up being the truth. And even if it doesn’t, then hey, maybe you meet a new friend to add to the group!

I say this with nothing but love and understanding, and this is coming from my own experiences that I’ve had over and over again, I recommend you abandon your friendship with someone that you have romantic feelings for that aren’t mutual. I know it’s hard, I know it hurts, and I know it feels terrible, but you’ll have to eventually.

I understand where you’re coming from, and it’s highly likely you’re right, but it’s not like it’s a secret between us, and since we’ve been able to talk about it openly without things becoming weird in recent months (instead of me thinking I’m keeping it hidden when I so clearly was unsuccessful), I’m actually way more comfortable with the situation then I thought I could be.

But I am prepared for it to become unsustainable and am willing to walk away if it comes to that. Which is something we have talked with one another about, too.

But thank you for your concern. I’m totally being hypocritical too, since I’d absolutely be giving the same advice if it wasn’t me.
