Star Wars Prequels 35mm 4K Filmized Editions by Emanswfan (a WIP)
Time

My biggest “compromised purism” in Star Wars is wanting to conform the BR cut of TPM to the theatrical cut - that is, keep the editing of the theatrical cut exactly, but with all the visual updates of the BR (CGI Yoda, mainly).

It’s the only one where something like that would outright replace any official version forever for me.

Well, in this theoretical version, she would have Leia’s saber from the start because Leia would have kept it and passed it on to her when Anakin’s was destroyed. The saber Luke gives her on Ach-To would be his green one that he’d hidden away after arriving on the planet before the events of the ST, not Leia’s.

Whether it’s the same from a legal standpoint or not, it’s not the same ethically at all.

Plus there’s the fact that it’s explicitly against the rules of this website, so I’m not sure what argument you think you’re trying to make here.

How is it not the same ethically? You’re stealing from Lucasfilm either way.

But I’m not giving money to a pirate.

Need Some Advice Regarding MKV to MP4 File Conversion
Time

I use Premiere. I use tsmuxer to demux the video into its own .m2ts stream and the audio into its own stream, then import the separate video and audio streams into Premiere and link them together in the timeline. No reencoding involved as long as your timeline is set up properly (AVC/h.264 video of the correct resolution and framerate, or whatever video format your original file came in).

This also allows me to convert any incompatible audio independently from the video.

The Last Jedi: Rekindled (Released)

Since someone already PM’d me about it over on MySpleen:

I will be uploading V3 to MySpleen at some point, hopefully soon. Apologies for the delay. I’ll post here once it’s up, but I unfortunately don’t have a timeframe outside of “hopefully before the end of next week, but maybe not.”

Although the user who PM’d me could always upload it themselves before I get the chance to!

Retro Gaming - a general discussion thread
Time

I’ve been toying with emulation as well recently - got RetroArch on my phone and my Plex server mini-PC (since that’s already connected to my living room TV). Been working through the original NES Final Fantasy and swapping the battery save file between my phone (while at work) and Plex PC (for home).

Unfortunately I don’t have a Wii and in the absence of being able to go to a local (non-chain) game store during the pandemic, they’re not as “dirt cheap” as most say from what I can find. A PlayStation Classic is about half the price of any Wii I can order at the moment, and from what I gather, once hacked, the PSClassic can handle emulation for everything I care to emulate up to the original PlayStation gen (not sure about N64 or Dreamcast emulation but I don’t care much about either console).

Once I’ve got it and have it hacked with RetroArch, I’ll try to remember to come back here and post about my experience with it.

Info Wanted: Star Wars Episodes 1 to 9 - Correct buying / downloading versions?

I talked about the wipe in my first post and quoted that same part in my second post. Here, I’ll quote it again:

Literally the only difference between the HDTV/DVD and the theatrical cut is a wipe that accidentally got changed to a hard cut.

As for the BR, the wipe was fixed

It’s the transition from Obi-Wan on Padme’s ship to Anakin’s charred hand clawing at the ground on Mustafar.

  • Theatrical: diagonal wipe (we have proof of this because we have a bootleg of the digital theatrical cut)
  • DVD/HDTV: Hard cut
  • Blu-Ray: diagonal wipe

Now, if you’re talking about a different wipe, I have no idea because I’ve never heard anything about a wipe change other than this one, and people have combed over the theatrical bootleg to compare it to the DVD/HDTV and BR versions and the missing wipe I’m talking about is the only visual difference between the bootleg and the DVD/HDTV.
