The thread for 2.7 is here: https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Harmys-STAR-WARS-Despecialized-Edition-HD-V27-MKV-IS-OUT-NOW/id/12713
I believe the introductory guide linked in the first post contains information about how to get it.
Okay, I heard the same problems and am making my changes now. There also appears to be a problem with the THX mix where there is cantina music tracked over the Luke/Ben conversation you were talking about (which doesnāt take place in or near the cantina). Iāll re-upload my collection and send you links if youāre interested, but it seems maybe you already have everything you need.
Luke (In MegaĀ“s version) says āā¦No pienso volver jamĆ”s a este plane-netaā¦ā instead of āā¦No pienso volver jamĆ”s a este planetaā¦ā
Got it. I was listening for āneta-taā, not āne-netaā. Iāll give it another listen, thanks, and Iāll update the Castilian master copy that will presumably make it into the next Despecialized.
Okay, I can hear the first example āastrdes/astroandroidesā, but I canāt hear the second one āplanetata/planetaā ā it sounds to me like Luke says āplanetaā in both versions. Iām listening to the dialogue starting at about 49:02.391, is this the right place?
Please do not post direct links here. Itās against forum rules.
Oh, and I misread your initial post ā the 2.5 Castilian track has a DIFFERENT problem which was fixed in 2.7 (Latino dialogue mixed in the trash compactor sequence). People have been complaining about that for ages, so I thought you were too.
This other dialogue problem sounds very different ā it sounds like the THX Laserdisc and GOUT tracks contained either some badly-mixed audio or mispronunciations? Did any release prior to the GOUT contain the other pronunciations (early Laserdisc, VHS)? Just wondering if they re-recorded the lines for the Blu-ray. The Blu-ray isnāt usually a very good audio source because it doesnāt mix well with tracks from other sources, so if thereās a āgoodā recording from earlier, that would be best.
I donāt have links to 2.7, just the revised audio.
Not sure if thereās a track out there without the pop, but the Japanese track is actually from the US Laserdisc track you sent, not the Blu. Basically the Japanese track only covered the theatrical bits, so when they inserted the Anthrax extension, the audio track popped at both transitions. The Blu is generally unusable as they just decided to patch over giant random segments with English audio. This was as far as I know a cut made very late in production, so itās possible the Japanese track actually had the pop theatrically. But itās REALLY loud ā startlingly loud ā and not the sort of thing I want in the definitive Japanese audio release if I can help it.
This part features a lot of repeated dialogue (at least in English it does), ābad, bad, Zootā, āoh, she is a badā¦ā so itās possible I can just patch in a section of dialogue to cover up the popped syllable with a clean version. Iāve actually done this before with good results in another context, but I knew the language so I could tell if it sounded wrong. I could even probably do it for a language I didnāt know, where I felt I had a good handle on where words started and stopped, and what the basic sounds of the language were, but Iām not even that far with Japanese.
This was corrected in Despecialized 2.7. Iāll PM you with a link to the fixed audio tracks shortly.
Turns out I didnāt subscribe to this thread so I had no idea it had been necrobumped š
Itās still on seemingly perpetual hold, and the status reported here is still accurate. The complete Japanese retranslation gig wasnāt ever really in the cards for the translator I found, but fixing the loud pop in the Japanese audio may still be something heās willing to help with (in short, the pop overlaps dialogue, so if itās fixable at all, Iāll need the help of someone who actually understands that dialogue). Iāll give it another go since I work with the guy. Wish me luck at being just the right amount of annoying.
Thank you SilverWook for the digital Zoot capture. I have downloaded it and made a zillion backup copies (well, three). Assuming no problems, Iāll splice that into the lossless Blu-ray sourced track.
I may⦠sigh⦠give up on the complete Japanese retranslation idea (will I never know what that Japanese narrator is saying when nobodyās talking?!?), but that pop is still IMO very worth holding things up for (the Blu-ray butchers the Japanese audio, so this preservation covers both the theatrical video AND Japanese audio, which are both otherwise unavailable in HD). All of this would probably wait on the next Project Threepio release, which is more of my focus right now and Japanese is coincidentally kicking my ass there too, and I also have a whole lot less free time these days than I did in prior years. So, itās slow, but not forgotten.
So with the new acquisition of Fox by Disney, they now 100% own the distribution rights to the OT right? As in, they can do whatever they want?
Do you think thereās a chance they announce the release of the unaltered OT at Star Wars Celebration?
Iād give that zero chance, Iām afraid. Itās never really been about money and distribution, which have always been negotiable. Itās about deference to Lucasās stated intent. Technically he doesnāt own it anymore and they can do whatever they want, but technically C.S. Lewis is dead and publishers are free to release his books in the correct order, but that doesnāt mean itās going to happen (yes, I know Lewis didnāt really even want his book order screwed up, but that case is more about the perception of his wishes than his actual wishes). Artists/directors/executive producers of wildly popular content have a reach that extends beyond the grave, let alone content ownership and distribution deals. Copyright expiration is the date weāre waiting for.
Hello.
Whatās the matter with the Castillan dub track? There is a part with american spanish audio on this track on v2.5. Are there any fix?
Are there any way to get subtibles?
Many thanks.
Thatās been fixed in 2.7, and Iāll PM you a link for the fixed track and subtitles if you donāt want to download all of 2.7.
I have a strange question - that might be interpreted as blasphemy by some - what would be entailed to color correct the despecialized edition to blend seamlessly into the 2004/2011 releases?
Your best non-manual results would probably be to do a shot-by-shot color match using something like DrDreās ColorMatch utility. That would cover the overall color changes, but wouldnāt necessarily handle the keyed-out color replacement very well, such as replacing the sleeve colors on cantina aliens. Anything beyond that would involve some sort of manual work. Your lowest-effort results would probably be to buy some magenta-tinted sunglasses.
