Right. We are not giving them directions or writing a contract. We are hoping to raise awareness and increase discussion, and despite low chances of success, hoping that we might get some kind of information. A comment that is less worthless/ambiguous than the recent Kennedy interview.

If, someday, they release a 2k OOT (first of all, I would still be thrilled), it won’t be because, "hah! You ****ers should’ve specified 4K! Gotcha!"
I know people still feel burned about GOUT, but that didn’t happen due to a misunderstanding.

I don’t think Lucasfilm will release the theatrical releases on Blue-ray, at least as long as Kennedy is president. Because of her relationship to George Lucas and him appointing her president, she doesn’t want to touch what she sees as “his movies”.

And if it does ever happen, it wont be until 2020, when Disney gets the distribution rights to Episodes 5 & 6.

Getting Star Wars fans talking about it can’t hurt though.

She wouldn’t be doing anything to his movies, though. She would simply be including the original versions alongside his versions. EDIT: crissrudd beat me to it.

Welcome to the forums, btw!

Thanks for the welcome 😃

Lucas has said that, to him, the original releases don’t exist anymore, the current versions are THE movies and he talked how he wants that to be the only version that people see and how eventually all the VHS tapes of the old version will burn out and be thrown away. He underestimates the power of the internet and passionate fans.

So it seems to me like Lucas doesn’t want people watching the theatrical releases, and Kennedy is going to honor his wish.

But Kennedy is 63 years old, and will retire or change jobs within the next decade or two, so the new blood that steps in could have a different stance.

It will likely be John Knoll stepping up as CEO of Lucasfilm, once Kathleen retires.

What was your impression of the prequels before they announced the PT?
Time

I feel George should have started with “The Beginning” and showed Anakin at around 13, just a little older would have been better. Then he could have gone on to Episode I-III with an older Anakin, which would have given more time to see that friendship actually have a beginning, a middle and an end. There also could have been more adventures and given the actors more to work with. George shouldn’t have written the screenplays, should have wrote the story, but not the script. I actually thought the Prequels would mostly be on location, like most of the original trilogy. I hate green screen, it is so obvious and bland, I understand why, but, George should have shot the desert scenes, ALL of them, on location.

I’m getting side tracked, sorry. I thought we would see Anakin meeting Obi-wan, them fighting in the Clone Wars, much like Rogue One, a ground battle on location with Jedi and clones. I would have preferred that Padme had lived, so that Leia actually remembers her real mother.

The fight scene in Revenge of the Sith is almost exactly how I imagined it, but I thought he would actually fall INTO the volcano, and crawl out barely alive, or get spewed out by the volcano as he falls in.

I liked the Emperor, for the most part, I wouldn’t have had him cackling and making bad puns with Yoda. I would have kept it serious and dramatic all the way.

I thought we would get suited Vader at the end of Episode II, the trailers fooled us, they had his breathing trailer for Episode II, so I thought he would turn into Vader at the end. Then we would get suited Vader all for Episode III, hunting the Jedi Knights down. I also thought Episode III was going to be called “The Dark Times” or something like that.

Who thought we were going to see Vader at the end of Episode II as well?

Episode VII : The Force Awakens - film & fan art, + covers etc
Time

I know, I wish I could make it one way or the other. I can draw, but, I don’t have the time or materials to take on such a project at the moment. Maybe someday I can, but currently, I can’t.

I would love to put something together, once this trilogy is completed, like what Struzan did with the Special Edition posters.

I am working on a blu-ray sequel set of VII-IX, just waiting for more pics from VIII, so that maybe I can finish it. It’s about 85% complete now.

Thank you for critiquing the pic, I thought the same thing too.

Well, I was playing around with the image and came up with this, maybe somebody can make it better or give me some pointers. I would like any advice anyone has to make the image better.

I hope this isn’t too many characters on the poster, as I feel it is now, but I want your opinions.

The original was done by Blake Armstrong, I believe, give credit where credit is due, he did a fine job with what resources he had at the time he did it, which was way before everything like on set photos of actors in costume, so he did a fantastic job.

Here’s is the link to the older Han. I’m going to go back to this picture and see if I can add a couple more things, but they will be faded, so you will barely make it out, I don’t want to ruin it, but I want to see what I can do, to make it better, if you will.

What Special Edition changes (if any) did people like?
Time

I would like to make my own edit, as I like the originals and some of the 2011 special editions, minus the “Noooooooo” and Hayden as Anakin in ROTJ. I would also take SOME of the deleted scenes and reincorporate them into the films, but also use the new stuff that was in the 2011 SW trilogy blu-rays. I would also like to use some of what Adywan did, and I’m waiting patiently to see what he did to The Empire Strikes Back.

I’m going to have to make a list of what to keep, what to insert, and what to delete from all the material that is out there and future stuff from Adywan.

Do you think Disney will release the unaltered versions for DVD and blue ray?
Time

With Episode IX arriving in theaters in December 2019, there is a HUGE chance we’ll get that film by itself, AND we’ll get all 9 Skywalker Saga films together all in ONE set in May 2020. I know Disney will pay them a certain percentage in order to use Episode IV. That’s just a big paycheck for them for nothing but rights to one film.

It will be a collaborative effort with both studios, I’m sure of it.

Exactly, I don’t know why they commission different people every time they want to make a set, but then, they bring in somebody else for Episode VII, and he doesn’t adhere to what has been done previously. All you have to do is call Lucasfilm and ask for a certain picture of Kylo Ren, it’s really not that hard. Then when Episode VIII and IX rolls around, you ask them to take certain pictures at those angles of the villains. This way, your set looks all the same.

I changed my Dooku picture, I made him a little darker, he was just too bright, I didn’t like it. I’m also working on the Falcon picture from another thread I was on. It’s a super hi-res shot of Luke training and Han is speaking to him. It had a crease down the middle of it, and I erased it, but I have to touch it up now, so it doesn’t look so obvious. It’s almost done, will post tomorrow I think.

Here’s Count Dooku for AOTC

The best I can do with the picture I was given.

The complete set

I don’t like the current Kylo Ren for The Force Awakens steelbook, I think he should be on there, but, just not the current version.

Thanks ooJason, I took that Krennic picture and rotated it just slightly, as the other faces are rotated as well. I enlarged his face and added the logos. I was trying to get his uniform in there too, but, then it wouldn’t be like the other faces on the other steelbooks.

If there is anything I should fix, let me know, I will try and make it better.
