Official Indiana Jones DVD Release
Time
The thing I'm interested in about the Young Indy series is how is that going to come out? Is it going to be 22 separate or will it be combined into some kind of set or sets?

Frankly...I could give a damn less about all the freakin' documentaries. I already know the show is full of historical inaccuracies and other error. It snow during an episode that takes place in August for crying out loud.....

Just give me the episodes in some kind of order and I'm happy. The other thing about that show is the bookends. I'd rather see the Old Indy stuff although I know he was kinda silly. If you've seen the VHS releases from a few years back, the new bookends are all totall CG. Even Indy is CGed quite a bit. There's this one part where Indy sits in a chair and it looks SO fake that really ruins it bad.....

It seems to be the mantra of LFL....if we own it, screw with it. Silly cuz there's nothing wrong with this series in the first place.

Just looking for opinions on this release...

The movies are all great and are exactly as I remember them. The packaging is really nice and all, but I have a gripe with Raiders. Why did they rename it Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark? I know it's just the packaging and they didn't change anything in the actual title sequence in the film, but it's kinda silly, IMHO.

The other thing that bugs me was the lack of vintage documentaries. I've seen a few of them back in the day for Raiders and I've gotten them through the awesome preservationists here on this site, but it would have been nice to have seen them included with this set.

It's nothing major and I'm certainly not getting all bunched up about it...you just wonder why they make these silly little changes. At least the films are the same.....

...but wasn't there an issue with Raiders on the sound or something?

I agree with this sentiment except I don't think Lucas is a complete hack....just a partial one. Don't know about the lazy part either. I think he just doesn't want to originals on a level playing field with the SEs. He doesn't want a balanced choice cuz he KNOWS people will pick the OOT over his SEs. That's proof of some kind of egomania.

LEC games: X-Wing, TIE Fighter...
Time
KOTOR was supposed to be REALLY awesome. I had it, but I sold it. I've gotten so disgusted with the state of SW that I've purged everything from '97 up.

JK2 was pretty good, but it was Jedi Academy that kinda ticked me off. JK2 came out in April 2002 and Jedi Academy came out in August 2003. JA is basically a huge mod for JK2. It sounds to me that they released an earlier version to cash in on Episode 2's release and then put out the version they meant to put out originally with Jedi Academy. It was a theory thrown around after JA was released. I happen to agree with it.

A lot of the SW games of the last 6 years or so follow this pattern. There was KOTOR 2 which was rushed to completion for the holidays in 2004. Then there was the whole Galaxies debacle, which is well documented in other places.

Just seems like they're out for money and don't want quality games out there. Quality games keep people coming back. In video games, quality matters a bit.

Some of the gems are KOTOR, Galactic Battlegrounds was pretty awesome and the Lego one. I'm sure the new Lego one is probably awesome, but I won't buy it on principle. Lucas isn't making it worth it for him to hand over my money.

LEC games: X-Wing, TIE Fighter...

I never really got into X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter. But X-Wing and TIE fighter was the best. I've beaten TIE fighter twice, but never could finish X-Wing, although I did get close. Lucasarts had some great games during this time. They had a couple of great combat flight sims during this period as well: Their Finest Hour:The Battle of Britian, and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. Then Lucasarts went into arcade-type games and things went downhill.

Yeah, I remember when that started. Rogue Squadron was the first like that......then Starfighter, Battle Of Naboo, Jedi Starfighter all followed the same formula. They are all basically the same game, just with improvements to graphics and gameplay.

The golden age of Star Wars LucasArts games was....X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Rebel Assault 1 & 2, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, and Mysteries Of The Sith. Haven't played much of XvT or XW Alliance, but I would put them in with the above group. Force Commander and Rebellion were the first attempts at SW strategy games.....I didn't play them much, but I didn't really like them. Those games are not my cup of tea.

Lucas donates $175 million to CA University
Time
Actually...hold on a second....that money came from his private foundation, it said. So that's fundraising money....that's what that means.

If he wanted to restore the OOT, that money would have to come out of his company's revenue or out of his own pocket.....so there actually is no reason to slam him for not using this money to restore the OOT. This is fundraising money so he can't really use that, ethically speaking, I believe.

I'm kidding. Nice to see the guy donate cash to a college. But at least we know he didn't spring for new transfers because he either didn't have the cash or didn't want to spend the cash. He just didn't want to. Period.

Absolutely....further proof that what we got on 9/12 is all we're ever gonna get.

Sad.

Nonsense.....I'm sorry, but I think that this is a form of trolling and this thread should be closed. If Raul continues with this, then he should be banned.

A thread about speculation on the 2007 set is okay, but a thread that centers around a poster here leaking information from a supposed source in LFL shouldn't be allowed. I think it is a form of trolling, especially on this particular board, even if it comes off as benign.

That's my take on it and I will gracefully bow out of this silly thread cuz Raul is obviously screwing with us. I hope his life is a little fuller now that he's gotten some attention. I will give no more.

Talk less and carry big screen shots.

Even if he has screen shots, it doesn't mean anything. Anyone can doctor photos.....or post old prototypes.

I will lock this as soon as this turns into a flame fest, so you might want to keep from insighting one.

While I have a very hard time believing you, this could be quite entertaining seeing what kind of info you produce. Don't dissapoint.

Come on Zion...you're gonna let that fly? That's just trying to provoke me....

For the record, I bowed out of that last discussion, apologizing for my part, but still expressing complete doubt in Raul.
