^ I don't doubt it, sadly. Exploring is half the fun in games like that, but in FO:NV with every opportunity to explore came the question: Do I really want to spend the better part of two to three minutes at a loading screen just to see what is beyond that door or in that cave, plus another two to three minutes at a loading screen when I come back out again?

EDIT: Oops, thought you said Elder Scrolls V and that we were still on the subject of the next console gen being due. Not sure where my head is. Perhaps I should go to the Q&A thread and inquirer.

that's me.

If you did find me, I'd be quite impressed. You should try adding me to see if you are right or not... if you're right I'd add you as my friend on principle, and that is saying something because I have more friend requests than I can count (many from people I don't know, but who somehow think they know me) desperately waiting (in vain) for me to add them.

But then again, maybe I shouldn't be too impressed if you really did find me... I was all so clever when I set up my facebook account, as I set it up so people wouldn't find me... but then I stupidly used my main email address for it without thinking. :(   D'oh!

if you had a time machine...
Time

To continue, after the whole Carrie Fisher thing is done and over with, my next conquest would be Jennifer Connelly. Having had my fill of gorgeous young actresses for a while, I'd go back and save Anne Frank while she is hiding with her family in the secret annex. Once she and her family are safe and sound, I'd be off to woo and marry Emily Dickenson (surely she can't be as ugly as paintings depict her, and I have always been in love with her, so that doesn't really matter). After many (okay, a few) wonderful years with my lovely (or perhaps not so lovely) Emily, I'll fake my death or find some way of getting away and move on to win the heart of Emily Bronte; if she won't have me, Charlotte will do. But no way I'd settle for Anne... From there, I'd probably move on to make a pass at Jane Austin, but wouldn't dare try anything there.

Once I've met all of them, no women could ever compare, so I'd give up such futile pursuits and move on to more important things. I'd go see the dinosaurs and maybe even dare to checkout the beginning of the universe, or as near to it as I could get. I'd go and meet Nikola Tesla, for sure. I'd go (cautiously) check out H. H. Holmes' Murder Castle, and probably expose him or put him away quietly. I'd go meet C.S. Lewis, H.G. Wells, and George Orwell some time before they are too famous and are more accessible.

I'd also go back to the late 1600's and do some extensive poking around at the Paris Opera house, especially in search of the alleged catacombs, maybe even go back a bit further and check out its construction, then jump ahead and witness one of the major fires that happened there.

For some reason the original Xbox never interested me in the slightest. After I first got my 360 I decided to look into regular Xbox games to see if there were any worth getting, ultimately, (other than the Halo games) I bought Marrowind and Knights of the Old Republic, neither of which I played for more than 30 minutes before decided they weren't my thing. Marrowind felt extremely archaic having already played a bit of Oblivion and the combat in Knights of the Old Republic just wasn't my kind of thing. Everything else that seemed of any interest to me on the Xbox I already had on the PS2 or the GameCube or the N64 (Conker's Bad Fur Day, if it wasn't so heavily censored, I'd still totally get it).

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Something just dawned on me. We already have some unofficial SW Blu-ray sets, right? Mostly television transfer of SW in HD. Anyway, following our rules of fanediting, preservations, and whatnot, won't this mean we'll have to own a set of the official Blu-rays in order to justify own ownership of any HD SW related projects? Much like we are suppose to own the official DVD for any fanedits we own and/or replace our DVD preservations with the official DVDs upon their release (regardless of the fact that we may already own the VHS of that particular film).

I think all the evidence we need that it is time for the next gen to roll around is how bad load times are getting. Bigger open games like Fallout and Bioshock have always given us load screens lasting in the double digits of seconds, but I've always been pretty accepting about that.

However, the load times in Fallout: New Vegas are so amazingly ridiculous, sometimes lasting minutes, even after being installed to the hard drive, it makes it really hard not to feel like the ambition of this game far exceeded the abilities of five year old consoles. Portal 2 load times are also pretty painful.

As much as I don't want to spend money on a new console anytime soon, especially since I am not an early adopter and it would mean years of not playing the newest games, I think it is past time for the next gen to begin.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

It is pretty bad that I have zero interest in this, yet every time I think about ESB: Revisited I feel excited and can't wait for its release date.

The SW fans truly are split into two categories, and since only one of those are being officially catered to, the other one has to make its own releases and documentaries and books to keeps itself appeased. Between Jambe Davar, Adywan, and Micheal Kaminski the SW Underground is the place to be.

Kind of disappointing realizing that the best to come from official sources has been here since 1993. I am glad 2006 brought us nice little pressed DVD versions of what we've had since '93, but so far that is the last official release of anything I found personally valuable and worth paying for... and even then I waiting a couple of years and bought cheap used copies of them.

Zombie Games: Sucking since Resident Evil 4.

I disagree whole heartedly.

Was never big into the Resident Evil games actually, I did rather like 4 and 5 was a lot of fun too... though it was a bit clunky and had too many annoying awkward quick time button tapping moments.

However, I think Left 4 Dead is a near perfect zombie game on many levels, and Dead Rising has a good deal of popularity, so while it doesn't float my boat, I am not sure it really sucks. The zombie add-on for Borderlands was pretty good, and I hear the zombie add-on for Red Dead Redemption was fantastic, but I've never played it. I also have really high hopes for Dead Island, but am expecting to be disappointed. Time Splitter 2 had a really fun zombie level and I think it came out after RE4, but I am not sure.

if you had a time machine...
Time

I'd use my time machine to appear on the set of Breakfast at Tiffany's and whisk Audrey away moments before the scene RedFive intends to make his move during. I'd take her to 2151 were we'd do it on an abandoned beach multiple times as the sun rises over us. Not caring about the possible repercussions of my spacetime alterations, I'd allow her to fall in love with me and we'd live together in a spacious hut full of all the amenities of a contemporary 2151 home.

Every night we'd make passionate love. After months of this, when I eventually grow tired of her, I will make up some excuse about the damage we are causing to space and time and tell her, though I love her, that I must return her to 1961. We'd have one last all night session of incredible passion on the beach, and when the sun comes up I'd return her, cooing with contentment and still buzzing from a multitude of sweet orgasms, to the set of Breakfast at Tiffany's before anyone even knew she was gone. To alleviate her sorrowful sobbing, I'd erase her memories of me... Moments later an unsuspecting RedFive will appear, take her into his arms, valiantly march back into his machine and take her to the year 2154; where he will experience sloppy seconds...

My next time conquest would be Carrie Fisher, just before she goes into audition for the role of Princess Leia...

Buffy Summers blowing limbs off of soviet zombies on a frozen wasteland is not a gimmick, it is a wet dream come true.

Eh, until you actually play it. It is like that really sweet and inexpensive Sarah Michelle Gellar sex doll you bought when you were in high school. That was one hell of a wet dream too! Soiled your pants at least three times on the way home; once you finally got it there secretly without mom, dad, or the siblings seeing it, you got her in your room and blew her up only to realize it looked nothing like her. In fact, it looked nothing like a real human being. More like a sort of fur less muppet with a shocked look on its face. Huge disappointment... the exact same kind of disappointment you've come to associate with COD zombies... Turns out Danny Trejo, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and George A. Romero are just lingerie on a pig. The lingerie is top notch! Really sexy stuff! But... its on a pig...

While I have very little doubt I am the only one in Off-Topic who actually plays COD, I just got to play one round in each of the Escalation pack's maps and have to say they are all a lot of fun. I was never too impressed with the last map pack, and Kawloon was the only new level in that one that really excited me the first time I played it. So far I'd say Escalation is a much better bundle. And while zombie maps don't interest me in the slightest, Call of the Dead holds some gimmicky appeal to that at least puts it above the other zombie levels.

Whether or not it is worth $15 really depends on the person. Four new maps for the price of a dinner out isn't so bad if it means hours of fun online with old friends, but to most people it is borderline highway robbery.

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!
Time

You could make them just buy grabbing two pairs of 3D glasses and popping and popping the lenses out and making one pair with two right eyes and one pair with two left eyes, right? Or am I over simplifying it?

If I am not mistaken, then the hardest part would be modifying the lenses so that they fit the opposite eye in the frame.

Still, seems kind of silly to have to wear a pair of stupid glasses just to watch a movie.

Oh boy! Flame wars outside of off-topic!

C3PX, I think you had to be here in the context of the thread. Sure, there were our usual escapades in this thread, but he was also incapable of any intelligent discussion attempted in other threads (and, occasionally, in here.) That doesn't excuse certain people's actions, however.

It isn't a flame war. This is civil. I am just expressing how I think J T34 has been treated unfairly. Everyone just kind of ganged up on him.
