We get it, you like Doctor Who.

Eeeh, it's okay. Not a huge fan. More often than not it was actually pretty awful. Oh, but when it did get good it got really good! Like Girl in the Fireplace and Blink, but even those, while brilliant concepts, were riddled with severe problems... wait, why are we trying to derail the Chuck thread?

Anyway, I am going to do it. Chuck for me tomorrow! If for no other reason than to make Twister proud and to make this thread more than one sided discussion and derailments. I am SUPER excited about this! Wooooo!

I hope I don't forget... like I did with Twin Peaks...

It did make you a bit Ric Olie like. Especially given this is the Chuck thread for discussing all things Chuck. Be a bit like going into the Video Games thread and saying, "We get it, you guys like video games!"

Speaking of which, I still need to watch Chuck. Now that I am caught up on Doctor Who, I need a new show for background noise. Maybe I'll start on Chuck tomorrow...

Trying to figure out what just happened there...

Did you just try to correct my spelling incorrectly? Or are you suggesting she is noncontinuous? Because those are the only things I can figure, and the second one makes absolutely no sense... ;)

Gaffer, here is a link to those posters on Thinkgeek (I think I got mine from amazon though).

http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/posters/ad49/

I have series one, though since I bought mine a second set has been released. All the posters from both sets are shown in the thinkgeek link. And yeah, a 'US AIR Surf Vietnam' poster would be pretty fantastic!

I actually only had two of them hung up. The Serenity Vally one and the "Visit Tranquil Miranda" one. Mostly because I didn't have that much wall space and I had other things, like my Animal Farm poster that I wanted up as well. Someday I will frame more of them and hang them up. I really want to get the second set, there are some really cool ones in there, like Jaynestown.

I like how discreet they are. Unless you are familiar with the source, you'd never guess what they were from. One of my room mates at the time told me more than once how cool they were; he had no idea they were from some sci-fi show.

I think the poster set was $30 and I paid $9 dollars for each frame, so all in all, really not that expensive. Especially if you buy the poster pack then frame just the ones you want, or frame them one at a time to break up the cost.

So, R5, how was the date? Did she get to see your Wookiee?

Wow, even with the Chewbacca shirt? Most impressive...

You give me hope that I could get away with owning a Millennium Falcon bed... The Firefly travel posters I used to have in my room were pretty risky, but I never had an overnight guest comment on them (kind of to my disappointment), so I felt like I was getting away with a lot of nerdiness as it was. In the future I may have to push the envelope...

...and WE get the bad rap!!!!!
Time

There is a video games thread in off topic, I think. Just sayin'.

Hmm, so looking back earlier in this thread to the link regarding Lucas's speech before congress... does anyone else ever get an ever so slight and unrealistic suspicion that Lucas is really on our side and is just dead set on taking this thing as far as he can to prove what can happen when there are no safeguards to prevent films from alterations?

I like to think he plans on continually adding more and more changes to the films waiting for some sensible cry of "Wait a minute!" coming from more than just the tiny voices in the distance that nobody cares about. I like to think he reads TF.n and dies a little inside each time, maybe he has even been banned from TF.n several times when he breaks down and can't hold in his true feelings any longer and expresses himself behind the anonymity of the internet. I like to think he has some extremely well preserved and remastered versions of the originals, the ones he makes his kids watch, locked safely away in a vault waiting for the day when the fecal matter hits the air conditioner and he can say, "Hey, told you so!" and release them...

Why yes, I do have a very active imagination. Why do you ask?

I think my screenspace would be better maximized if I could minimize the "Facepalms, Fist pumps, Whatever Faces, Don't Care Meters, Angry Faces, Crotch Kicks, Crying Faces, STFU, Deal With It, Derps, Oh Snap, Double Takes, and So On...(NSFW Language Advisory)" that I never go to. ;-)

I agree completely. My previous post was aimed at Bingo and his admitted lack of self control in staying away from the Politics thread. If he can't keep himself from clicking on it already, I doubt one extra mouse click could help him much.

It would be kind of nice not to have to see all the nonsense threads, but honestly, if you lack the self control to not click on the threads you don't want to look at in the first place, you'd be the type that would constantly be clicking on the "This Thread is on your ignore list. Click here to reveal this thread" link.

This is true. I did kinda do this on the train home. My ringtone used to be Mark Hamil's line 'It's lucky you don't taste very good' (I had it because of a joke some friends and I made when talking about SEs.) Then two young kids (Not little kids, they were 12-13) came up to me recognizing Hamil's voice and asked me where it was from. When I told them it was from empire they laughed, telling me I was an idiot because that line wasn't in empire because they knew every line or something. They talked about 'Lucas' Vision' and the prequels being amazing because of Yoda's Light-sabre fights.

I then (kinda angrily, I don't like being called an idiot, certainly not by ignorant prequelite children) 'told' them that I was a film student (which I am), about the O-OT, problems with SE and the stupidity of the prequels .etc. Long story short, I made one of them cry and they ran off.

(I don't mean to sound like a horrible ass-hole on the train that picks fights with kids, but the two children were so unpleasant and their views so 'warped' that I felt an obligation to 'correct' them.)

(Sorry if I sound like a complete asshole)

This makes me makes me think of the "Mortal Kombat is the best game ever!" scene in Billy Madison. Hehe, good stuff.

Nothing personal, it is just that... Holy Shit! You make more pointless nonsense posts than Fink, and you respond to nearly every post made, making your posts just about every other post in any given thread. It is all in good fun, and more power to you, I just figured I wouldn't be missing out on much and my navigation of threads would be quicker.

So, the original site linked to in this thread (which is really lame) had a link to a site dedicated to home made sex toys, and it is brilliant! And really, really sad in a way that makes it even more brilliant. Some really funny stuff, like this glowing red lightsaber dildo:

http://www.homemade-sex-toys.com/light/

And just in case the word "dildo" is not enough to make you think "NSFW", then well, I probably ought to mention that this stuff is probably not safe for work.

If you could control the airwaves, what would you force the whole world to watch?

This was an amusing thread. Good necropost, Twist. Also, very creative ideas on a new Star Trek series.

I'd do what YIYF said he'd do all those years ago. I'd cut it off and show nothing, then sit back and watch the world go to hell, hopefully followed by the rewarding experience of seeing how they begin to cope without it.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

I agree with you regarding the stuff with River Song. When she appeared in that lone season four episode, I thought introducing a future companion of his who knows him well but who he has never met was kind of a cool idea.

But her first appearance in season five made me do a 180 on the whole thing. She was suddenly a really irritating character, very obnoxious, and hairy_hen is quite right in that there is absolutely no chemistry on screen between the two. She is very demanding and condescending (she actually kind of takes away a lot of the appeal of the Doctor to see him reduced like that) it is really hard to imagine the Doctor ever falling in love with her.
