After you put out that much trouble for Ferris, I totally want arcing in my Flogging Molly lettering! j/k (I love the shirt, btw).

You've outdone yourself now. Now you HAVE to make one of Anchorhead riding a motorcycle whilst bee keeping and reading Splinter of the Mind's Eye*
That is abusing our Ripplin!
I wish Scarlet Johannson always looked as attractive as she did in Lost in Translation. Here is another picture of her that strikes me as absolutely amazing.
Nice!
Spot on.

Call me back in a few days when I've stopped laughing so hard. :p
Nah, we'll just let you keep amusing yourself. No need to call you back. A Beautiful Women's thread with political BS but no beautiful women stinks worse than a yeast infected crotch.
To get things back on track:
Never been a big fan of Johannson, but I've always found her to be absolutely gorgeous on this poster for Lost in Translation. I even seriously considered buying this poster once, even though I don't care much for the film just because I like it so much. It isn't just her either, I find the whole thing really pretty.
You can never go wrong with Summer Glau, though I agree with Ferris, the girl could use a few dates at the buffet.
Since the video games thread is currently dedicated to political discussion, and the politics thread is currently devoted to Xhonzi's link clicking habits, I am going to hijack this thread to talk about video games. Thanks.
I FINALLY found a port of System Shock 2 for OS X that works on my MacBook! I've wanted to play that game for years, but haven't had easy access to a computer that could play it. Going to tackle it ASAP, feel like I have been missing out on something all this time.

Thanks, Ripplin!
I am impressed with your attention to detail, you even got the sun bleached hair from the photo I gave you.
Totally didn't know you were sporting a beard these days C3PS! That looks great!
I know, I love it! I've had beards in the past, but I always end up shaving them after a few months. Somehow they've always seemed to escape photographic evidence though (hence why there are no pictures of me with them on my facebook).
Beard makes my Lego guy look older than everyone elses too.

Rather enjoyed Brave New World which I read for school last year.
FACEPALM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
*sigh*
and
*slap!*
And if that wasn't harsh enough:
Bkev, you're dead to me.
That is all.
I love the guy's concepts and story ideas, he has really made some neat stuff, but he was by no means a talented writer. I find him unforgivably dry. On the other hand, he did have killer sideburns!

I liked your [Frink's] mom before she was so popular.
True, it has been feeling a bit murky in there these days.
Oh no! Another Bowie obsessed thirteen year old!

I'm sorry hairy_hen, I think you are looking for the video games thread. This thread is about physically attractive females.

Not sure who thought the technological twist on the "it was all just a bad dream" cop out would be a good idea for an ending, but I do believe I heard that they had to rush to tie it up because it got cancelled.
Is that the post you meant to link to?
Yah, rly....You mentioned they rushed the ending due to cancellation, which is what I said in that previous post.
Ah, I see now. Actually, when I wrote that part I had your post in mind. You asked it as a question, and I was saying that I heard that was the reason, but the way I wrote it it doesn't look like I read or acknowledged your comment at all.

You're like me in that you like to take a back seat style of escapism into the galaxy, but roleplayers are doing the exact same thing. They just like to take an active part in the galaxy.
So they aren't actually taking a "backseat" then? The whole "active" part denotes more of a driver's seat sort of situation... Don't you think?
Solar Plexus.
The ever lovely and awesomely named Evangeline Lilly.

Don't watch it.
Nope. I cannot fulfill your request without a proper ball rating. Unless one is provided, I am going to have to watch it.
Monolithium, your Kate avatar makes me very, very, very happy, by the way. When I went to see X-Men: First Class I was subjected to the trailer for the very atrocious looking Real Steel featuring Evangeline Lilly, which reminded me how very awesome she is. I am super excited she is suppose to be in the new Hobbit flick.

LOL. Can't believe I missed that and the rest of the fun that ensued in this thread. That'll teach me for not being interested in talking about HD media players...

Given it's significance, I've always wondered that RUR has never been adapted (except I think a BBC TV show in the 50s, could be wrong).
Of course, it has lots of wierd, dated, and very Czech things in it, like all the men proposing to the same chick and stuff, but it's still a very chilling tale.
Although anything that ends with...
90 YEAR OLD SPOILER ALERT
I think it does have old adaption, yes. But given the popularity of its theme over the last several years, this is really the perfect time to go back to the root of the whole technology takes over thing. The play did it perfectly and in a very chilling way.
An adaption that follows the basic storyline, omitting the cultural idiosyncrasies, and padding out the story to show more of the Robot war, would make a movie at least as good as the crap bollocks busters that are pumped out each year.
If I were doing it, I'd stick with the island robot factory and follow the story of the characters there, make the love story a little more real instead of forced, etc. But I'd also parallel their story with at least one other set of characters living on the mainland who get to experience the robots from beginning to end.
For example, maybe follow the story of a character who starts off as a small child at the beginning of the film. He marvels as his dad brings home a shiny new robot to do the housework; by the end of the story he'd have joined the army to fight the uprising. This character's story would be inter-cut between the story of the characters n the island. This would pad things out and provide or proxy to see the uprising unfold first hand. In the original play the only way the characters living at the island robot factory (and in turn the audience) get to hear about the uprising are through newspapers.
Oh man! Rossum's Universal Robots just sounds like a big ticket seller by the title alone. Can't wait for this movie! Maybe I'll get to watch it around the same time I get to play my version of Bioshock 3.
Spoiled Ziggy was spoiled.
Ziggy, why are you posting about video games in the politics thread???
;)

When it comes to BioShock Infinite, I see that "extreme" patriotism is what is being attacked. Like you, I have no problem condemning "extreme" patriotism. But I know that you and I would define that "extremism" differently and I suspect that we might define it very differently. It wouldn't surprise (or offend) me that you hold the private opinion that I am an extreme patriot, and need to tone it down somewhat. As your friend, I would also not be offended at an open discussion of such.
For all I know we might see extreme patriotism differently.
I wouldn't join the army to fight in the war on terror, because I simply don't believe in it, I don't believe in the way it has been conducted, nor do I believe in its effectiveness. If the draft were to be reinstated next week so we'd have more man power to fight in those places, I'd dodge that draft if chosen. I wouldn't die for a cause like that I don't believe in, and I'd rather do whatever it takes to fight those who'd force me to fight for them, including die trying if it came to that. I know several people who would call me unpatriotic for that. When patriotism means being a "yes man", I can do without it.
However, if it was an instance where I felt like I'd really be fighting and putting my life on the line to protect the freedom of my friends and loved ones, I'd jump to action. If we had foreign invaders on our soil, I'd grab the weapons I have and be quick to join the nearest civilian militia. This is a level of patriotism I have a great deal of respect for. I'd fight to protect the ideals of my country, the Constitution, and what it stands for and the freedoms it provides to me and everyone else who lives here.
Another thing we call patriotism is a high level of pride in our country. I am proud to be an American, and while our country has a history of missteps even in its short life, I am still pretty proud to have been born here. The United States is a pretty unique system, I love the way it was designed and the whole melting pot thing. The freedom of religion. The freedom of speech. The multiculturalism. It is fantastic! I've traveled around and it simply can be beat (American exceptionalism that I agree with, of course, there are other aspects of freedom that we totally fail at). However, you get people who get very ethnocentric with this, and tend to tear other countries apart or look down on them for not being as good as theirs. That is just plain ignorant nationalism. And as enjoyable as I find nationalist in other countries (come on! They tend to be a ton of fun!) when I see them in my our country they just embarrass me. When patriotism=nationalism (i.e. we are superior to them) I can do without it.
Extreme is kind of a vague word to use, hopefully this clarifies it. If there is one of my three above listed forms of patriotism that it looks like Bioshock Infinite might make itself a cautionary tale about, from what I have seen of the E3 footage it is the nationalist aspect. When Ken Levine mentioned that it was like monument that could fly around the world and show everyone a piece of the US, I couldn't help but think what a disgusting nationalistic concept that was. If they end up not condemning that to some degree I'll actually feel quite disappointed.
Does that clarify my position?
Well, Xhonzi, it clarifies your mom's position.
