Whoa! Creepy things that pretend to be real, but don't really look real, like mannequins in museums, creep me out.

I swear, something like being thrown out of the Pirates of the Caribbean boat at Disneyland and having to walk to shore past the pirates to an exit would be among the more traumatizing experiences I could imagine. Or being trapped several hours behind the glass at a museum with taxidermic animals or semi-life like mannequins would likely result in suicidal post traumatic stress.

Ehhh, and don't even get me started on wax museums... though they are generally a bit too kitsch to be all that horrifying.

You found a copy of The Neverhood that works?! Please do go on!

A few pages back I mentioned finding an OSX port of The Neverhood and finally (after many frustrating failures during my childhood years) beating the thing. The OSX port works flawlessly. If anyone wants it, just google: "Neverhood OSX" should find a torrent or two (it is an unofficial port, nothing you can optain legally. The game itself is "abandonware" with original CD-ROMs selling for around $100 bucks as collectors items). Windows versions of the game have always been really easy to find online (I have an original disc, probably in a box somewhere in my parents basement where I will never see it again).

The last time I tried to play The Neverhood on a PC was through Windows XP, but I've never had any problems in the slightest that I can recall. I take it by your comment that it doesn't work so well on Vista or 7?

You can play with a touchpad?! That's awesome!

I've been a strict laptop user since I was 14. Other than X-Wing, Dark Forces, Sim City 2000, and the old adventure games I played as a kid, all of my PC gaming has been done on a laptop with its built in keyboard and touchpad mouse. Using a real mouse to do anything always feels weird, and typing on a full sized keyboard with those ridiculously large keys that jut out almost an inch always throws off my stride.

FPS games I've beaten with a touchpad include (just off the top of my head) Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, Dark Forces III: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Half-Life (when it first game out), Star Trek: Elite Force,  a few older Metal of Honor titles, and quite a few others.

SS1 and SS2 are entirely disconnected story wise, aren't they?

I've played a little bit of the game yesterday and realized I am going to need to work out something different from controls. The whole touch pad mouse isn't cooperating very well with this one. Maybe it is just because I haven't played a first person game on my computer for a few years now, since I bought the 360, and am out of practice. Hard to believe I did a Half-Life-a-thon on this thing, beating Half-Life, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Half-Life:Blue Shift, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, and Portal with just the keyboard and touchpad mouse (Half-Life 2: Episode Two ran way too slow which was one of the major things that prompted me to run out and buy a 360 about a week after this several month long marathon was halted on the cliff hanger at the end of HL2: Episode One).

Maybe I just need to whip out an external USB mouse to use in the meantime. I guess I can deal with that through the duration of the game.

Between System Shock 2, Grim Fandango, and The Neverhood working flawlessly, I've been having some really good luck with unofficial ports lately.

Everyone Welcome Sunset Newday!

I like the idea of using Ziggy as a landmark to tell how old something is.

I got kind of lazy and behind on my laundry, so I really had to dig around to find a pair of underwear. There is this pair that isn't that comfortable, so I only wear them when I really have to (like when I can't go commando because I am wearing a pair of pants with a hole in the crotch) so they don't get a lot of wear and have been around forever. Anyway, this thread has got me thinking about how long I have had that pair of boxers and realized they are at least a couple of years Ziggy's senior.

Dude, I have a rash that is older than some of the people here. That isn't saying much these days.

I just mowed the lawn in a pair of boot I still remember buying on sale at Wal-Mart sometime contemporary to the beginning of Ziggy's existence.

I have an imported Japanese Famicom that is much older than Ziggy and a bit younger than doubleKO's paper plate and potentially a lot younger than Ripplin's shoes (I am imagining they are a considerable deal older than KO's plate, because it pleases me to do so).

Most people are totally oblivious to what we're talking about.

Yeah, I have no idea. "Lover's spat" would be my first guess, but since you two live on different continents...

And just so I don't feel too left out...

Your eyes can be so cruel! I'm happy, I hope you're happy too! You've run so long, you've run so far! He told us not to blow it 'cause he knows its all worthwhile. How you turned my word, you precious thing. And it hurts like hell!

Since the very recent deletion of the official StarWars.com message board, the Star Wars fan community has been in desperate need of a new place to call home. There are literally almost no Star Wars boards out there, and the ones in existence that I personally have been able to find are either old and no longer active, in addition to being major eye-sores, or are just completely and utterly ugly and with few to no members.

Hmmm....

Ouch! Spam us, then call us ugly? I feel hurt and abused.

Ah, but I am one of those douchebags who use a Mac so I won't be able to open that .exe file. Though if you are lucky, receiving such a titillatingly named file in my email and being unable to open it might make me very sad and sexually frustrated at the same time.

Superman III

If you remember enjoying this movie as a kid and haven't seen it since, learn from my mistake and keep it that way. 3 half-cents out of 10.

Maybe an extra half-cent for the "fire rockets at Superman" video game that really fires rockets at Superman.

I've been in the closet for a really long time about this, and I know admitting it isn't going to make me popular, keep my hair out of the toilet, or keep me from getting wedgies, or stop me from getting laughed at in the locker room, or cause the pretty girls to talk to me... But Superman III is my favorite Superman ever! The first one is really boring, the second one is pretty sweet (though filled with some terribly lame parts) but you see it once or twice and it wears thin. But part three? Oh yes, part three! Part three is a train wreck. But man! It is one of my all time favorite train wrecks!
