Having 178 games permanently installed is nice. Around 40% or more of those are torrented. Actual computer games, not emulators such as Dolphin.

Borderlands - Game of the Year Edition, Fallout 3 GotYE, Fallout New Vegas with DLC, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with Complete mods, Metro 2033, GTA IV and Episodes from Liberty City with mods, entirety of Command & Conquer series and more games. Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed series but there are too many to list. Very nice to be able to choose from so many at very leisurely pacing.

Very glad to getting all the Dune games to work.

Wow. You're really depressing me, actually.

Forget about your stupid computer for a while, and go out and make some friends, get off your ass, get some exercise. There is so much more to life than a bunch of lame computer games.

Well, then it is good bkev already took that comment back and conceded your point before you made it.

I suppose I should take back my wuss comment. In CA, many buildings are built to stand such shocks - special foundations, not built out of bricks, etc. On the east coast there are plenty of brick buildings. So it's a bit bigger of a deal.

Hey! I said FERAL ghouls, FERAL! And I wasn't thinking about my mutant supermutant. I was mostly thinking about all of the ones I kill on sight. But the hitch is that it will also kill/make sick anyone suffering from any small amount of radiation sickness... I.e. basically everyone.

From the wiki:

In the DLC Broken Steel, if the player had chosen to contaminate the purifier with the Modified FEV, the medical facility of every city is filled with new patients dying from FEV poisoning. The new patients hold their stomachs and repeat dialogue along the lines of, "it burns on the inside." When the player speaks with the doctor at any given town, they state that the condition is not contagious. In Rivet City, Dr. Preston comments that they are burning the corpses just to be safe. In Megaton, Doc Church comments along the lines of, "it would be ironic if we were so used to the crap we had been drinking that pure water is killing us."

I also read that drinking the water will kill you... because you've obviously soaked up a lot or rads in your time.

Yeah, I just read all that myself. Really cool.

I know you said feral, but obviously it would kill the intelligent ghouls as well. Eden explains that it will kill any mutations, including just about everyone who wasn't born in a radiation free environment like the vaults. Which explains why it kills you if you drink it.

bkev had me watch Cowboy Bebop.

Usually I'm not a big anime guy (in fact I've never really watched it), but WOW this was amazing. In fact, my reaction to it comprised mostly of positive expletives.

The truth. He was shocked and possibly appalled when I told him it only got better, I don't even like the first episode. Full recommendation post from me coming someday.

In other threads I have mentioned how anime has never been able to grab me in the slightest. I find it tends to be annoying and obnoxious even when it is at its least annoying and obnoxious. Someone described Cowboy Beebop to me and I thought it sounded really cool, so I watched three or four episodes, but just couldn't get into it.

Concerning the whole anime thing, a few weeks ago I watched an episode of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood with a friend of mine and actually found myself really enjoying it. So I watched the next episode, and enjoyed it too. Then I watched a couple more and found it getting on my nerves. Seriously, why does everyone of these dumb cartoons have to include dumb, annoying, and obnoxious things in it? What is with the over the top campy Japanese humor? I have a feeling that was probably one country that could really appreciate Jar Jar Binks. Tingle from the Zelda games was perceived as painfully creepy and weird by American audiences, yet in Japan he was so damn popular he got his own spin off title.

From the Fallout Wikia under the entry for Fawkes:

When the player is faced with the climactic decision at the conclusion of the game, Fawkes politely declines to enter the radioactive room in lieu of the player (even though he is immune to radioactivity), stating that the decision is the player's destiny and not his. However, if the player has the Broken Steel add-on installed, the option to send Fawkes in will appear, allowing the player to opt out of entering themselves or Sentinel Sarah Lyons. When this option is used, he states that although he was going to tell the player that the player's destiny lies in that chamber, he has already altered his own.

Yeah, so prior to Broken Steel, this option wasn't available. Phew! I was starting to thinks my character and Fawkes just weren't as tight as Xhonzi's character and Fawkes... and that made me sad.

Also googled the FEV stuff, wow, didn't realize it did all of that. That is really cool, kind of wish I would have now.

What did you do with the modified FEV? I didn't think it sounded like such a bad idea...

Kill all of the feral ghouls and supermutants whilst purifying the water? Sounds good to me! Feeling like maybe I should play Raven Rock (again!) I turned to google again to see what I was missing. If you didn't use the FEV or haven't read about it, I recommend you do the same. I'm glad I didn't do it, but I was impressed with the ramifications.

Weird hearing the guy who is proud of having a super mutant and a ghoul as a companion thinks killing all the ghouls and super mutants would be a good idea.

The first time I beat it, I kept replaying the ending while trying different things, using the modified FEV was one of the things I did. Unfortunately, at that time the only difference it could make was in the mix 'n match ending narration.

Does it actually effect the world in the DLC? I can't imagine they'd really remove all the super mutants and feral ghouls from the game. I guess I'll have to google it. Seems like I actually googled it once before, and pretty much read that there is no difference. Maybe I read a bad source.

But the point of all of this- I didn't die nor did I have the chick die at the end. I just sent my mutant supermutant in to handle it. He was glad to do it and the radiation didn't hurt him any.

Weird. I had Fawkes with me at that point in the game, and it gave me the option to ask him to go in for me... and he gave me some speech about how this is my story and that it was something I had to do on my own. I figured they made him say that to negate a super mutant companion being the perfect solution to having a good karma ending without the self sacrifice.

I wonder if certain conditions determine whether Fawkes will go in and take care of it for you rather than just pontificate about character development, or if when they released the Broken Steel DLC they decided they ruined the dramatic ending already anyway, and changed things to allow the reasonable solution of Fawkes going into the chamber for you.

Just out of curiosity, with the ending you got, what happened after the ending narration? As I said, for me with my character "dying" at the end, it has him wake up from a coma at the Brotherhood of Steel's base. You said they rolled the two week later card, so do they have you starting off with the Bro. Hood of Steel base still?

I currently have 154 games installed on my secondary 1TB hard drive on my computer. Should I post the specifications for it sometime? I built it myself.

The "ending" video was pretty clunky. I don't think it was any different for having the DLC installed...

If the DLC isn't installed, the game ends with you dying in the chamber. Unless you made the Brotherhood of Steel girl go in there to take care of it for you.

If you have the Broken Steel DLC installed, then as you saw, they retcon the ending and have you wake up from a coma. If you beat the game without any DLC installed the first time like I did, then once you install Broken Steel you have to load a save right before the end of the game (which I had), or play back up to that point to access the DLC which automatically starts right after the ending.

Ahh..but I have the Extraordinarily Deluxe Edition (best DVD reissue title ever)..in 1.66:1..complete with The Book of the Soundtrack of the Film. :) It's on it's way to Blu supposedly!

The Lincoln Lawyer-servicable, not good not bad just meh. 2 awkward zoom balls out of 4.

Does it still have that annoying deleted scene in it?

A few years ago I bought a reissue of the film with a ton of cool extra stuff, only to discover it had that dumb deleted scene in it, as a result I have still hung onto my non-anamorphic copy.

Mice don't understand the difference between a house and any other shelter, you couldn't invite them into your house if you wanted to because they don't understand your language.

Hopefully that was just your attempt at being humorous, but obviously when I said "invite" them into your home, I didn't mean speaking to them and inviting them over as a guest (I feel stupid feeling like I have to explain this). What should go without saying was that I meant bringing them into your home on your own, as opposed to them finding their own way in without you wanting them to.

Wow, bugs must not be too bad in central Scotland then. I've been to plenty of places where no amount of beer or DEET is going to protect you from much of anything.

Blocking those threads sent a message, hopefully the message has been received by all and I imagine if it hasn't further action may be taken.

The message I received said that people can continue to act however they like and permanently ruin legitimate threads for others.

Exactly the same message I got.

I don't think Moth3r was trying to send any sort of a message, or even really moderate. He was just lazily taking action because he had been getting complaints, and locking down every thread that seemed to have the least bit of heat in it was the easiest way to do that without having to waste time actually moderating.

Again, I appreciate the lack of moderation; but lazy moderation and preventing Frink's legitimate effort to get everyone to band together and starve the troll is hard to appreciate. If there has to be moderation, I'd rather have REAL moderation than half-assed bullshit like this.

But a few spiders or a few mice, even a few rats?

Just pick them up and put them outside.

Are you joking? A few mice or rats isn't a minor problem. Have you ever experienced mice or rat problems? This isn't a Disney cartoon, they don't just run up to you while they sing about your mean stepmother and let you pick them up. They're dirty, mean, and can be quite dangerous. I guess you can use humane traps, but once you dump them outside, they're likely to find their way back into your house again.

Ah, I see what you are saying and I agree. I think most of us have twooffour on ignore now, and I haven't seen any replies to him in a while, and it feels very nice and peaceful. I am perfectly happy with this solution. I just find it amusing that Moth3r bothered to lock down nearly every active thread the other day, but doesn't give a shit about how anyone behaves. To use your pile of manure in the middle of the road comparison, it is like Moth3r placed a bunch of roadblocks to prevent interaction with the manure on a few particular roads, which effectively blocked people off from using those roads for legitimate means (their original topics) just because they had a small pile of manure on them.

Meanwhile, nothing is going to stop the cows from dropping fresh piles of chocolaty sprinkled manure on all the other unblocked roads.

Kind of puzzling to leave the cows out, say definitively that he doesn't care about the cows and nothing will be done about them, but yet still making an effort to place roadblocks to prevent access from the messes the cows are making. And in one case, even shutting down an organized effort to clean up and prevent more cow manure from accumulating (almost felt like he was saying, I won't be bothered to do anything about trolling, and I'll be damned if I let you try to do anything about it yourselves!).

It is weird that people who keep pets could kill other animals based purely on personal preference.

Why? If I had dogs or cats infesting my house, eating holes in the packages in my pantry, and pooping in my silverware drawer, I'd take measures to kill them and/or keep them away.

If I invited a mouse into my home to keep as a pet, I'd take care of it and feed it just like I would a dog or a cat. Makes perfect sense, nothing weird about it. I don't think people not acting too kindly to unwelcome intruders that make pests of themselves by ruining your food and potentially spreading dangerous microorganisms, is anything close to weird.

Coyotes are dogs. At the current location life has swept me off to, I find myself in a position where every night coyotes threaten my morning breakfast of delicious fresh fried eggs. As a result, I keep a loaded gun beside my bed and a ear cocked and alert through the night. It would make sense for me to shoot the coyote, because he is a threat to me and the animals under my care and protection. Yet I wouldn't shoot one of the domestic dogs that run around the coop all the time. No personal preference about any of it.

It is no more "personal preference" than it would be personal preference for you to call the cops if someone broke into your home, when they are just another person like you and the other people that live in your household.

However sometimes what he post is stimulating, either as food for thought and further discussion or just as an example of how looney we all are.

I agree that he posts some fairly decent ideas from time to time, but he pads out those ideas with so much bullshit and manual pleasuring of himself, finding those decent ideas is a bit like digging through large heaps of reeking diarrhea to find bits of mediocre tasting (and now shit laced) chocolate.

Furthermore, honestly what is the point of having someone bring decent ideas to the table, when they themselves are not willing to listen to the ideas of others? This works great for someone who is an authority in their field worth listening to, but when it comes to discussions on discussion boards, it really is a rather worthless way to behave. Especially when the vast majority of the time that person is just talking out of their ass.

I know it is trendy to come to the defense of things that are unpopular, but I think those coming to the defense of twooffour's behavior really need to take a moment to really think about whether or not his behavior really merits any defense. Read back over his old posts, the kid keeps his boxing gloves on at all times and is constantly chomping at the bit to use them. Not just sometimes, not just on a bad day, literally all the time.

It is actually twooffour vs. the forum, rather than Frink vs. twooffour.

I completely agree with what Frink said here:

TV's Frink said:

That's too bad.  As I said, my belief is that the pledge thread was well on its way to restoring order (other than the Warb/DAYV thing, I take no credit or blame for that).

And as someone pointed out to me, most of the threads that were locked were actually interesting topics that just got derailed.

If you don't have the time or the inclination to moderate right, why even bother doing it at all? If Off Topic isn't worth messing with, why waste time or find the inclination to come in and lock random threads? I guess any thread that has a heated discussion break out in it from now on is subject to being locked, rather than there being any effort made to weed out the source of trouble?

I got a PM from someone complaining about the bullshit going on in off-topic, I checked a few threads and saw a load of Frink vs twooffour, Warbler vs Davy, and decided it was time to lock a load of threads.

I don't have the time or the inclination to read and decide who is wrong or right, or who is a troll and who isn't.

Ah, so if enough people PM you regarding twooffour, might it yield results? You've already witnessed his MO first hand that time you had to temp ban him.
