Hope you enjoy the rest of Smith's tenure thus far, doubleo; I know I have... :-)
I'm a few episodes into my Blu-ray set of Series 6. It's alright so far. I don't like that the Blus don't remember my place, so I can't just watch when I can, I have to either have an hour to watch an episode, or figure out what chapter I'm on to skip back to it after all the ads load. It's really annoying.

Is that normal for Blu-rays? Or is it just your player? I've bought a small handful of Blu-ray discs since getting my PS3, but I have actually never gotten around to watching any of them.

But after 5 and by the looks of things this one the universe it's set in is now so removed from the real one it just becomes another fantasy universe.

There has always been a large dollop of suspension of disbelief with these games (how else can you survive Barry Burton's dialogue) but it has become too overblown and I can't see how it can pull back without a REboot.

Very good points throughout your whole post. I've always considered the series kind of ridiculous, but I never consciously stopped to consider the points you brought up.

By this point enough incidents have happened on a large enough scale that the whole world would have to be aware of them. And 6 looks like it is setup to out do them all on the "overblown" scale.

Resident Evil 6.

Just watched the trailer. For the first half of the trailer my thoughts were pretty positive, and for the second half, all I could think about was how it looked more like Army of Two or Gears of War than Resident Evil.

I was hoping they'd go back to a more isolated survival horror feel, instead it looks like they've gone full blown 3rd person shoot-em-up. Maybe it won't be that bad and I am just reading too much into a trailer that was edited to be as action packed as humanly possible.

Kindle/Nook Thoughts?

I really love that my Kindle 3 gets me free 3g wherever I go, and provides me with ridiculously long battery life.

I still never bought a cover for mine. Can anyone recommend any good covers for the Kindle 3? I want a folding book like cover. I wanted to get one of the official amazon ones with the built in light that I found on clearance at target super cheap a month or so ago, but I have only heard bad things about the official covers, such as that they have a tendency to destroy your Kindle.

I am curious, how would they destroy a kindle?

The Kindle 3 has a short of bracket system built into the left side of it that the official Kindle cases latch into. The lighted Kindle case can actually draw electricity from these in order to power its built in light. Great idea actually. But from reading over a dozen reviews of the lighted Kindle case, it seems it has a tendency to drain the Kindle's battery even when turned off. Some people claim even the non-lighted case drain the battery faster. I've read enough other negatives about them that I decided it was safer just to steer clear.

I think that after another generation or two the Kindle Fire could stand toe to toe with the iPad.

I agree. For an e-reader, the Kindle has consistently remained pretty impressive, and the Kindle Fire, for the price, seems to be a pretty impressive little unit. If amazon addresses most of the complaints about the current Kindle Fire and keeps the price in the same range it is now with the second generation (and manages to keep a leg up on the competition), I think we are looking at a bright future for the thing.

The Kindle is great! I still love my Kindle 3 to death. I can't imagine ever getting tired of it. I do have a habit of switching back and forth between Kindle and paper though; I'll read a few books on my Kindle thinking how amazingly great and convenient it is, then I'll start on a paper book and think how much I miss paper and how a poor e-reader could never replace that, then something comes up where I need the convenience of the Kindle and suddenly I am its biggest fan again.

To protest the protest, I visited several Wikipedia pages and hit stop before they completely loaded, thus preventing them from diverting to the protest page and allowing me to read what I needed to know :P

Wait, I've been on wikipedia all morning, I haven't seen a single thing of the protests on there.

I just went to their homepage where it is announced that they are locked, but from there I can search and read any entry I want. Doesn't feel very locked... :(

EDIT: Ahhh, I was doing it wrong... ;)  Good job wikipedia!

Mouse taken care of. Now I can go to bed. Smell lingers...

Apparently my room mates killed a rat in our kitchen last night. With a boot knife. Can't get many details out of them, seems like it was a pretty harrowing experience and they're not ready to talk about it yet. I saw the remains and yeah... from the looks of it, it turned out to be a lot harder to kill than they expected.

In other words: I really need a new place.

I'd like to know how Leia Organa responds to allegations that she once used a racial slur against a member of the Wookie race.   There are allegations that she referred to a member of the Wookie race as a "walking carpet".   Does she have anything to say about that?

Also what about allegations that her husband once had dealings with a notorious crime boss known as "Jabba The Hutt"?

Finally what about the rumors floating about that Leia Organa real father wasn't Bail Organa, but was really the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader.  Maybe we should start calling her Leia Vader!

combine all this with the fact that she wasn't born an American citizen,  I don't see how you can say she should be President of the United States.

VOTE FOR BARTLET!!!

YES, SHE'S DEFINITELY A REPUBLICAN. :-P

Dude, the incestuous relationship with her brother is all it took to determine that. All that other stuff just supports it.

It wasn't the blood of anyone I know or care about either. No worries.

There is a dead mouse under my bed. I've been away for over a week, and from the looks of things it's probably been there most of that time. I can't sleep with it there. I have to do something with it, but I am so very tired I just want to close my eyes and crash. The smell is bothering me. I am so exhausted. Stupid mouse.

Still can't figure out why Leia would be a Republican.

She is against big government, she totes around a firearm AND she makes out with her own brother. Of course she is a republican.

She is against the fascist empire. That doesn't mean she's against big government.

She totes around a firearm because she is part of a rebellion.  Most liberals agree that soldiers should be armed.   This doesn't mean she thinks ordinary citizens should walk around with guns.

What does making out with her bother have to do with this?   I did not know that conservatives do typically do that.

Nobody appreciates my humor.
