Nonsense!

By that logic all we should be pumping out of our universities would be engineers and computer science majors, and other boring drones.

Biologists don't make biology, but we need them. Maybe history teachers don't make history, but we need them, psychology majors don't make psychology, but we need them, and so on. English majors don't make English, but where would we be without editors and journalists? Political Sciences can be of great importance too. I shudder at the thought of a future where business, engineering, and medicine are deemed the only degrees and careers worth pursuing.

I generally consider all undergraduate degrees useless. They are easy to obtain and the market is over saturated with them. Undergraduate education is the new high school diploma, and who hangs their high school diploma on the wall?

Haha, that is a lesson I just learned myself. Was dating a 23 year old. Way too young for me.

How young is too young? Is there a graph that plots your age and the minimum required age of the girlfriend? If so, I could use that.

Just use common sense.

There was actually only a four year age difference between me and this girl, that isn't much really. But that still puts us in very different stages in life when you consider how long ago I graduated college and have been in the real world, and how long ago she graduated from college and has been in the real world. I folded up my useless diploma and stuffed it in a file box years ago, this girl just barely got around to framing her useless diploma and proudly displaying it a few weeks ago.

Star Wars Radio Drama - *update in 1st post* - completed review
Time

It is always weird reading old posts from a young C3PX, I think I kind of liked that guy.

Since this thread I managed to upgrade many of my various old tapes and mp3 discs of radio dramas to CDs. Wooo!! Except for Star Wars... Kind of want the full trilogy set, which is pretty pricey for used sets. Suppose I could settle for just Star Wars, it is the only one I really ever listen too anyway.

EDIT: Whoa, last time I looked for them it seemed they were out of print and very expensive, looks like there are new copies being pressed again and the prices have plummeted. Thinking about it...

Like Star Trek (2009) vs Star Trek Nemesis (2002) I could never see why people loved Casino Royale (2006) and loathed Quantum Of Solace (2008).

I'm even more confused by the praise thrown at this film as Quantum Of Solace is a far more consistently entertaining and satisfying film.

Casino Royale went out of its way to reinvent Bond and made it more realistic and modern, then Quantum of Solace returned to the over the top stunt after over the top stunt of the Brosnan era films we'd just gotten away from. I think a lot of people were ready for this new era of Bond we were expecting based on Casino Royale, and disappointed when all of that was undone with Solace.

The X-Files (1993-2002)

Finally got around to finishing the series. People say the last couple seasons were the worst but I don't find that to be the case. Were they bland? Yes but in no way did they approach the worst. Look no further than War of the Coprophages for that. The show really went down the stinker when Carter left for that brief period of time. Whether it ever fully recovered from that is questionable.

I don't know, episodes like First Person Shooter and Sunshine Days made me want to put a drill to my head. War of the Coprophages is amazing in comparison to the vast majority (maybe all?) of season 7, which was complete and absolute turmoil to watch. It was shocking how bad that entire season was, there is pretty much nothing good about it, cheesy groaner episode after cheesy groaner episode, each one dragging on for a painful 45 minutes, still featuring the characters you'd grown to love, but now put in situations that can only be described as parody of the greatness the show was just two years prior.

Thankfully, the show did recover from season seven, but only slightly. It got better, but never even a shadow of what it originally was. Sure, there were some silly episodes in seasons 1-5, but for the most part it stayed solid and intriguing; a silly or lame episode here or there was easily forgivable. Season six plummeted, seven stayed at rock bottom, and while eight and nine were an improvement, it was really hard to care about the replacement characters for Mulder and Scully. I often wish they had aimed to wrap it up with season six.

"Back to the Future" - Synchronicity Interpretation
Time

Stayed up late into the night watching these last night. Had no idea what I was watching, I was pretty messed up. It ended up being pretty intense. Totally expected something like Dark Side of the Moon synced to Wizard of Oz by the thread title. I don't remember anything about them, other than the fact that Christopher Lloyd is indeed apparently the deity Zeus. Or something.

I don't know. I've always felt Casablanca is terribly overrated, there is no way that many people genuinely love this one movie that much.

But that being said, I love that movie! I can watch it over and over and enjoy it just as much every time. I can't really say that about too many movies. There really aren't that many movies that I have seen repeatedly that I'll gladly plop down $7 - $12 dollars to see in theaters (and make the time to do so on top of that) when it occasionally comes back around for a one evening showing.

Kind of contradicting right? I guess I want to think Casablanca is genuinely one of my favorites, while so many others are posing and just saying it is one of their favorites because it is the popular thing to do. Which might be a ridiculous line of thinking. People know what they like. All I know is, personally, I think it is fantastic and get great joy out of watching it. I have seen in more times than I can remember, and I will see it again more times than I'll be able to keep track of.

Whoa, forgot how sexy Lego me was!

Meanwhile, just short while after the rape text, I got a text from another girl I used to know saying she was on a date with a really boring guy and wanted to know if I could come over to her place after she made her escape. Weird day.

I have no interest in either of them, I just want the girl I was dating as of two weeks ago back. :(

at least you've dated a girl.     :(

*remembers its Valentine's Day and cries*

I don't know man, it's been a pretty painful last couple of weeks. I think I am over it now, but yesterday sucked. I went to go buy a few shirts, and the cashier had to ask me if I had any plans that evening, told her no, she looked at me funny and said, "You know, it's Valentine's Day, right?" Oh, really? I had no idea! Maybe I had been planning something really awesome for tonight over a month in advance, but got dumped two weeks shy of getting to carry those plans out.

Later went to buy a Subway sandwich, and the woman making my sandwich had to make a big deal about asking me why I was eating by myself at Subway on Valentine's Day. Seriously! Who the hell does that? There are single people in the world, do they really need to answer to every small-chat-making-cashier they come across on that day?

Ended up staying the night with the girl who was having the bad Valentine's date. We had fun, not where I wanted to be though.

The Troll Speculation Thread

He has contacted me using his new youtube account too asking me to remove anything i posted about him especially things i quoted he wrote over at Youtube. He is trying to make out he was just having fun and that Sam was just  character and not really him (as if anyone s going to believe that). On his old tyrANUS account he wrote this as his profile:

I have to say that Sam was one of my favorite characters. Sam was underappreciated, but he really had a great deal to offer. He always seemed to ask all the right questions, and even if they seemed mundane initially, we'd know how important they were in the end. Sam was very passionate in his views and would press them in spite of anyone's contradictions. And when he really let forth his wrath, he had the ferocity of a troll! That's what I love about Sam.

This stuff is kind of disturbing.

EDIT: Nevermind, it is a quote from Ender. Less disturbing.

Yuck. Yuck. Yuck!

There's a guy on LDDB who does this with LDs on his 16:9 display and frequently posts images of his setup.

You should ask him: Would you vertically stretch a letterboxed video on a CRT TV to fill the screen?

Wait, don't. I don't want to know the answer and I'm pretty sure you don't want to know it either!

I've only known the guy for a few days, I might break it to him gently sometime. For now I'm not going to mention it.

That is unacceptable, either you need to throw him out, or you need to leave.

Sarcasm?

He's really laid back and pretty much exactly what I've been looking for in a roommate, so I think I can deal. It's been really hard for me to find decent people to live with here, he's very chill with me having certain things and doing certain things in the apartment that I couldn't even bring up with previous roommates. The rent split two ways is dirt cheap for such a nice place and location. Plus, he's got a freakin' badass cat! I like having a cat around, but don't want to have to have the worry of having one of my own; I spend too many nights away from home.

Just wish my bed didn't have holes in it... Patched up four already. Hopefully that is all of them. Can't tell if I still hear a slight hissing, or if I am just going crazy from listening for that noise for so many hours. If I am hearing it, I can't locate it for the life of me.

Also, I sleep on an inflatable bed for the convenience of moving, since I never stay in one place long. For the last two weeks I've been splitting my time between my girlfriend's place and a friend's sofa while I looked for a new apartment. Somewhere in there my gf borrowed my blow up doll bed (as I affectionately call it, really just a crazy comfortable queen size air mattress) for some friends who were coming to visit. Blew it up for the first time last night, went to bed, and woke up on the floor. After serving me well for three years without the slightest issue, it now has numerous holes in it. Patched three so far, still appears to be losing air. Frustrating.
