This girl says I'm smoother than I think. You know I tried to keep me and my ex together after she cheated because I didn't think I could find anther girl so easily, but it was like a week before I met this girl and she really likes me. I didn't think my ex would be replaced so easily, but she was.

They are ALL replaced easily... until you get too attached to silly things like mannerisms and personality, then you end up passing over every girl you meet looking for their clone. Dating a unicorn sucks. Damn unicorns! Why can't all women be equally boring?

But even then, once they go, there will always be others. Told you she'd probably see qualities in you that you don't see in yourself.

IGNORED!!!

I'm not sure if you can read this, what with the IGNORing and all...  But I will definitely pick up Infinite, maybe in about 6 months or so, and it will mean that I will never actually play Splinter Cell 5, Shadow of the Colossus, or, heaven forbid, Fallout Vegas.  Every title I buy now means one on the shelf won't get played... but it probably won't be that title, if you follow.

Eh, leave Splinter Cell 5 and Fallout: New Vegas, definitely at least kill a few colossi in Shadow of the Colossus, it is a great game, but if it is between never playing it at all and only playing a few hours of it, I'd say play a few hours of it. It is essentially a puzzle game and the biggest challenge is figuring out how to take down each colossi, if you take down the first few, you've basically experienced the game. That isn't to say it isn't worth playing all the way through, if you have the time and initiative to do so.

I played [CoO and GoS] a little, they felt a lot like the PS2 games, only with really awful graphics in comparison and with a bit more of a claustrophobic feel to them.

Really awful in comparison to the PS2 games?  I had heard that they were at least on par, but I haven't booted them up, so I don't know.

No way. I haven't played three yet, so I can't compare it. But going from playing GoW 2, which I think looks gorgeous, to playing the PSP ports, it was impossible to forget that they were designed for a 480 x 272 PSP screen.

Dead Island was a game I loved all the way to the end, and was disappointed when it was over. I remember thinking it was fantastic, but a little too short. My c-op partner and I played the campaign through 2 and a half times to get to get our levels up.

That's encouraging!  I tend to trust your taste in games, so hopefully we will at least feel gratified that we played through to the end once!

I'm playing the Asian girl who seems to have developed a real glass jaw of late.  I recently started using a long handled axe which has helped keep the undead at bay, but I have resigned myself to constant deaths just being part of the game.

Yeah, that game can be brutal. You really have to watch yourself and work with your partner to keep from dying all the time.

Honestly, I think I am one of that game's biggest advocates, I really enjoyed it through and through, but it seems that the vast majority of the gaming population has always been a lot less willing to over look its flaws than I have been.

Interestingly, a few months after beating it two and a half times and moving on to other games, a friend of mine bought it and wanted me to co-op it with him. I was really excited about the opportunity to play it through again, but found myself really bored. Maybe it was because I was getting really annoyed constantly explaining how the game worked to him, as he was going through the learning curb and I wasn't. Or maybe it was somehow related to bringing up the memories of the previous person I co-op'ed it with, who had since moved on and was now co-op'ing other dudes.

And I'd still really like to play Borderlands 2 and Far Cry 3 eventually.

I'm thinking about catching up on the God of War series while I wait for Bioshock. I have still never beaten God of War 2, and have yet to play 3, but I have them all, including the origins collection.

I've been waiting for them to announce BL2:GOTY, but so far no dice.  They just announced a disc of DLC, but not all of it which means there's probably another disc of DLC coming before the GOTY edition.

The first one kept DLC coming out for a good long while, which I appreciated. I imagine two still has more to come before it is time for a rerelease with all the DLC.

COO and GOS will probably feel more like the PS2 games, and I think that's a good thing.

Dead Island seems to have worn on too long in its tooth.  My co-op friend and I have both expressed interest in just putting it down unfinished.  We got out to the Jungle, which seemed to breath a little more life into it, but I'm not sure it will last.  It says we're about 80% done, so I think we'll slog through to the end from this point.  Hopefully we're glad we did by the end.

Zombie Games?
Time

So, I've never seen more than a couple of episodes of the Clone Wars series that Lego Star Wars III is based on, so as I played through the game I kind of had to guess the storyline, but there were several levels where I was killing endless hoards of zombies that would come up out of the ground. Maybe they weren't really zombies, but translated into Lego, they were just as zombies.

I recall one of my friends once being really excited about Stubbs the Zombie, and then after he finally got it I asked him how it was and he was extremely disappointed.

But then again, he wouldn't play Bioshock because it was too linear and he only liked open world games. And he much preferred third person games to FPS and Stubbs is built on the Halo engine, so I imagine it is first person.

Borderlands has good art design, but the gameplay is above average at most. It's a good game, but I think it's more a case of it's competition making it look good.

I've yet to play BL2, but the greatness of the first BL was entirely in the co-op, which was fantastic. Too many co-op games are short and you run out of stuff to do, Borderlands was great because it gave you hours and hours of running around with a friend online, doing missions and shooting the breeze. And it felt like every time you ran out of missions and took a reasonable break from it, there was a new DLC pack out on its way out to look forward to.

Alone, it was just a waste of time IMHO. Main reason I haven't played BL2 yet is because I haven't had any good friends to play it with online. One of my old BL buddies switch exclusively to PC gaming (and now says he can't take consoles seriously anymore because they feel like a watered down experience. PC gaming elitist, pah...), and my other BL buddy was the girl I was dating at the time.

It is actually a really great couples game, it was nice snuggling up on a Saturday morning or late at night and splitscreening with each other.

Far Cry 3 on the other hand I have been consistently impressed with, and it's a lot of fun. If you play the whole way through you might find some of the missions get repetetive by the end, but for me it's one of the best FPS I have played in a couple years. Good presentation, good graphics, good gameplay, good co-op, it's just an all-around solid game.

Good to hear. I've heard great things, and I've heard really negative things. I still have a feeling I'll really like it.

Change.org is truly abused... ugh. I detest that website because people use it for causes like this. I'm sorry, but "bring back Toonami" or even things that actually matter like restoring the Original Trilogy don't belong on a website mostly dedicated to social justice issues. They really need a screening process there...

Seconded! That's crazy!

Really looking forward to Bioshock: Infinite (and I'm so glad they decided to include reversible box art) and The Last of Us. I think those are going to be my two launch day purchases for the year.

believing the Bible may not be 100% perfect is not the same as believing it is full of falsehoods and corruption.

That stuff was addressed at Ender, he mentioned something about the grubby hands of man. Mormons believe that the Bible has lost many "plain and precious truths" via the translation process, and many believe that it has been corrupted in other ways, explaining the discrepancies between the Bible and the Books of Mormon.

I take upon faith that it is not.

I believe Christ is the son of God, that he died to save us from our sins, and that 3 days after he died, he rose from the grave.   I do not think that believing this means I have to believe that children that curse their parents, must be put to death.  Not sure was else to say.   If you want to think I am silly/crazy or whatever.  fine.

That is good enough for me.

No, I don't think you are silly/crazy/whatever.

Well... maybe a little whatever. ;) But not silly or crazy.

Here, let me pause, just to ensure neither of us misinterprets the other by letting you know that if I say anything that sounds overly defensive, hyped up, or anything, that is not my intention. I also am aware that you are not trying to sound over the top either in your criticisms. Just getting that out of the way :)

Very good. I mean no harm in my posts either.

But I will add that your argument has several holes of its own. That is not to say that there are at times points where one must forgo logic in favor of faith to believe in the Bible. But what you are doing is incorrectly ascribing beliefs and statements to myself and the Bible that are not actually held by it or me. I truly hope to clarify later today, or tomorrow at the latest.

No doubt my arguments are absolutely riddled with holes. I can't speak for you and your beliefs, but as for all things I attribute to the Bible, I can reassure you they are there. If you choose to airbrush them out, remove their meanings from context, or attribute a hidden context to them, well, then I guess that shows you've got it all worked out. But yeah, perhaps I should start quoting scripture more liberally.

But I will say that what once started as the noble goal of encouraging critical thinking seems to have digressed into talking about crumbling houses of cards and the foibles of even believing what we do.

...

My point is that the motives now seem less altruistic, and perhaps there are others not wanting to have their faith directly challenged, as there is a difference between encouraging a little more critical thinking and actually downright saying, "You're dead wrong."

Whoa, digressed? We're still on the exact same subject! No digressions have been made. This isn't even deep discussion, all this is barely on the surface, and it is basically just me asking a simple question that continues to go unaddressed:

If you freely admit the Bible is full of falsehoods and corruptions, how do you know the resurrection of Christ isn't one of these uninspired, corrupt pieces?

It is such a basic question, if somebody's faith cannot withstand it, I daresay they had no faith to begin with. Seriously, how do you believe something so unbelievable, when the only source of this unbelievable tale is a book that you admit to being untrustworthy?

This isn't even an atheist/theist discussion. I just find it really interesting how the Bible repeatedly claims it is the perfect word of God, which you disagree with, but still find merit in it anyway and chose to believe bits and pieces of it.

Also unaddressed was the verse in Timothy 3:16-17:

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Does it lie?

Is this a corruption?

Or does this predate all Biblical corruptions, a remnant of a time before the Bible couldn't be trusted?

Is this just Paul talking about the scripture prior to its corruption, back when it really was God-breathed? (If so, the majority of the texts we've translated the Old Testament from predate Paul and even the time of Christ, they are from all different time periods, and besides a few misplaced grammatical marks and an added or subtracted word here or there, they all say the exact same thing, which indicates changes HAVE NOT been made through the centuries. It is actually very remarkable, there is no other ancient text with such an abundance of sources).

Perhaps poor Paul was fooled into eating dog poop brownies himself. The man claims to be inspired by God, maybe that is true,  but God simply didn't relay to him the important details about scripture not always being from God).

You and Warbler paint a very fickle picture of Christiandom from its source material on up. If the Bible is corrupt and untrustworthy, then by extension, this must put everything Christianity teaches at question. You can't very well say that it is full of error, then say, well, we know for sure this part isn't erroneous. A leaky boat isn't water-worthy, no matter how small the percentage of leaks are in ratio to the portions that are impermeable, if it leaks, then its going to sink.

Of course, Mormonism is a very different animal that believes in a very different take on the nature of God and Christ, to be a Mormon, you'd have to accept that most of the things the Bible teaches us about God and Christ are utterly false. So naturally, it would be much easier (actually, necessary) for you to accept the fact that the Bible is some percentage bunk, than it would be for members of more traditional denominations to do so.

Well, sir, I say that is a good thing. Life has all sorts of great stuff to offer. If what you're doing now isn't working, just change it up a bit. We have so much freedom and can do so much, a lot of people just let themselves get trapped in the only way of life they've ever known and they are miserable for it. You're not the only one that has felt this way. I get that way a lot, and when I do, I tend to bail and start something new. Because of this, I have many good friends scattered all over the place for visiting on road trips, and I've gotten to live in a bunch of really cool places.

Ever since I read Moby-Dick as a kid, this section has stuck with me. I honestly may well have checked out long ago, had I not realize how viable an option this is. The end is the end, why not try new beginnings, or at least temporary drastic change of scenery and life-style. I anticipate that eventually, I'll land on a place I like enough I won't want to leave. Or at the very least, I have connections all over now and someday can choose to return to the one I have the fondest memories of.

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago—never mind how long precisely—having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world.

It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off—then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can.

This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.

All that will happen if Sony or MS implement such a feature is people hacking the code, just like when they pathetically tried to implement a security feature for BD only to find people cracking it almost overnight.

Just like how modchips are so easy to get for the current gen and work so well? Unlike previous gens, they aren't easy to install and none of them really worked so well last time I read into it. I feel like modchips are a thing of the past. Also, attempting to do so gets your console permabanned from Xbox Live, don't know about PSN, rendering it useless for anything online related.

I just don't see it happening. Especially when the thing is hooked up to the internet. Right now pirating current gen consoles games is more trouble than anyone finds it worth. Nobody has come up with a way around EA's online passes yet, and pirated Xbox arcade games (which is the same sort of DLC system as the online passes), gets your console permanently banned.

Nobody is going to hack these things. It is very different than a BD player, as a BD player isn't part of an online network that loses the vast majority of its features when it's manufacturers decides to cut that unit off for sketchy activity. It is much more involved than just updating your BD player with some hacked firmware.

Pirates stick to PC gaming these days.

Ordered a shirt from amazon last week. According to the tracking number, it arrived in my city on the 21st. Wooo!

I waited a few days, still no delivery. Checked the tracking number again, now it had made its way north to Kentucky... uh...

A few more days, North Carolina.

Yesterday it arrived in Dallas, Texas.

Today it left Dallas, Texas.

I feel like my new shirt is on a wild adventure without me... :(
