"level of quality that is expected from Lucasfilm releases"

Oh, well that's comforting.

Help: Ideas Wanted for... "Episode 3" or "What Convinced Me To Try a Re-edit"
Time
Or, if he had wanted to remain consistant with what was said in Return of the Jedi, he could have made her give up Luke and go to live on Alderaan with Bail and his wife, then Leia could have remembered her real mother. Palpatine had no way of knowing she was really dead or not, everyone could have just said she was dead while she lived out the rest of her days hidden on Alderaan. But of course consistancy was hardly George's goal.

What to do with the SE discs from the OT DVD sets...
Time
Do you think Lucas is going for the world record of the most consecutive yearly releases of a DVD.

04 - SE 4 disc, 05 - SE 3 disc, 06 - SE/OUT, 07 - 12 disc superduper, ultra special saga aniversary edition, 08 - 30 aniversary + 1 year edition?

One thing that is going to bother me about the ones coming in September is that they are going to have an annoying "Disc 2" printed on all of them. I really wish they were just the OUT along with a special features disc. There is plenty of material they could used to at least make a bare bones supplment disc. They could use things like the old making of Star Wars with Artoo and threepio. They could load it up with old interviews with Lucas and the cast, but I don't suppose Lucas would want those released, they would merely be DVD quality evidence of how fickle he is. However I suppose they could just edit them a bit.

"The special edition, that's the one I wanted out there. The other movie.. it will be out on DVD in 2006... if anybody wants it.

Honestly, I often wonder what happened to ol' George. When I was a kid I used to think he was one of the greatest men that ever lived. Now I have very little respect for him. Now he seems like such a gimboit. With every interview he seems to contradict things he has said in the past. Makes me wonder if he hit his head sometime an lost his creativity along with all he used to stand for. His ideas used to be so fantastic, a used, worn out galaxy. It gave the movies such a feel, now it has all been blasted to hell. Now all I can think of are stupid incidents like them having to go back and re-film the scene where Obi-Wan picks up Anakin's sabre, because they "kinda forgot he gives it to Luke in the next movie." Another annoying thing is how many people will now say that the star wars movies were always crap but people always loved them anyway. Maybe my view is tainted by growing up with them, after all I didn't even realize how lame Ewoks were until I was 14, but it seems to me that before 1999 (or perhaps 1997) I had never heard too many people who had actually sat down and watched the things consider them to be crap. Even Ewan McGreger said that a star wars movie wouldn't be a star wars movie if it had good dialogue. In that case I don't think we should consider Star Wars or The Empire Strikes Back star wars movies because they have some awesome dialogue at parts.

Sweet, I got totaly misquoted. ocpmovie would make a great journalist. If you read my original post I said I was disappointed to see ocp acting like such an ass. When I said that it had nothing to do with his LID thing but with the way he was posting in the X0 form in all caps saying "LOL YOU GUYZ GOT OWND BY LUCASFILM END GOODBYE" and less than half an hour later "LOL OWNED SO OWNED SO MUCH WASTED TIME LOL LOL LOL KILL YOUR LD PLAYER kill self " I had a lot of respect for him, he was an important member of this community and he has done some fantastic projects, so I was a little shocked to see him posting such things. I thought he would have had more respect, I would not have expected him to be going around in a very troll like fasion and stomping on the toes of some people who have really put a lot of time and effort into the X0 project. Even your whole LID thing is just there to spite the X0 project. What does it matter to you. If you think the official DVD are going to be great, then good. I hope they are. But let the people who are still excited about the X0 project keep their excitment. Maybe in the end what the X0 project comes up with will be little better than a pile of crap, and the official ones will be just great. I guess we will know for sure in September.

It has already been said officially that the quality wont be as good as the 04 versions. Really, I cannot imagine this set being anything great. I never bought the 2004s but I borrowed them from a friend and they are awful and the 04s are Lucas' definitives, how do you think the quality will be on the old versions that don't exsist anymore and cannot possibly be made? I am sure he is only releasing it to milk a bit more off the DVD format, to spit in the faces of the buyers of the previous two DVD releases and because he sees efforts like X0 trying to do it unofficially. Also I have to say it is disappointing to see someone who has been such a big part of this community as ocp acting like such an ass. The X0 team have really thrown a lot of their time, money and effort into this and all he can say is "ha ha you guys got owned!" I guess the rest of us will be "LOL"ing when he realizes the official DVDs are little better than VHS to DVD transfers. Time will tell. But one way or the other, long live the X0 project. And honestly, I can't wait for the T-shirts.

Yeah, and that shot from the same trailer where the door opens and there are three Boba Fetts (originally what we thought the clone troopers were to look like) on the other side. Man, that trailer made me so excited to see ep. 2. Imagine an army of soldiers in Jango's armor all marching to battle. Gives me the chills. With this scene if you were only to show Mace's point of view, cut in with Anakin, Obi, and Padme chasing down the Count, it would certianly shorten things a bit, but there really isn't much to work with.

I checked and there was still no feedback left for the seller. I would have thought it would have made it to the buyer by now. I was thinking since he does seem to be a big SW reel collector as he bought that other set at a large price, and he paid a good deal for this reel, maybe he wont admit it if it is fake. Or maybe or won't even check it, might just shelf the thing in vault.

He claims to have limited technology, but he had no problem of posting a pic of a stupid bingo ball. So we know he has the technology to take pics and post them, but yet he didn't do so right away. Then he had to take a long time to post the pics, my bet is he ran out searching at some old thrift stores or junk shops somewhere looking for a reel of 16mm. Now he'll probably go out and get another one to stick in as the other half. I doubt there would be anything of any interest to us on that/those reels, could be some of his or somebody elses old family videos or they could even be blank. If there had been more time it could have been fun toying with him instead of calling him on it. For example to tell him something like "since a standard 16mm reel holds 120mins, is there anything tacked onto the end after the special? Some of the more rarer reels of the HW reportedly had cast interviews after the feature." If he knows nothing about 16mm as he seems to he might have fallen for it and said that either the end of the reel is just blank, or maybe even claimed that he remembers there being interviews at the end but isn't sure. Then he would have had nowhere to go, couldn't possible claim there are two reel then.

Ha, the man has a excellent point. Funny that no one thought of that before. What if you contact ebay and tell them of your suspision if they wont let you retrack your bid. Maybe they will warn the others then. Really it is nonsense for this guy to get away with this. Also that bingo ball is really sketchy too. I highly doubt he has struck lucky so many times, and if he did and he really believe it is the ball, why sell the thing? And a lucky bingo ball is nothing of worth anyway, not even that likely there are ebayers searching for such things. He might have just placed it on auction for the very reason of trying to solidify is HS reel auction. We will see.

There is nothing to even tell us that he might have pointed the camera at a TV even. I am sure if he would have done that then he wouldn't have seen any trouble in holding a slide up to the camera. I think there is almost no chance at all of this being real, and if it was I think the guy wouldn't have had any problem posting pictures to start with. I guess we will know in after some days when whoever wins it give the guy feedback. Or even a bit sooner and with more detail I suppose, if skot wins it.

This should be interesting. I wonder what he'll come up with. He does have another idem for sell however. He actually managed to provide pictures of that one, so this means he does has access to a digital camera, and it lets us know why he took the user name he did, not that that matters.

Well, no pictures yet. Bids up to $78.00

Interesting timing for this to pop up. Right after the clip aired on Conan. The Holiday Special is something long forgotten for many casual SW fans, but Conan was enough to perhaps spark some interest in the subject. My bet is this guy decided to take advantage of this. Probably he himself had never heard of it before until Conan and decided to do some research and realized that some star wars fans might just go nuts for something like this. Still, if I were him I would at least take a picture of a film canister and a reel a film rather than a low quality pic most likely ripped from the net. I can't wait to see what happens in the end. Ebay has some sorf of fraud protection to protect users from things like this don't they?

Actually, I found those pictures on another site, which must have ripped them from SA. Regardless, the contest rules never stated that the pics had to be 100% original and user-made. So there....

I like loopholes.

There is no loophole here. You just blatantly ripped off somebody elses work.

"The catch? You got to win a photoshop contest. Just design the dumbest Star Wars Valentine and you get the goods."

Perhaps you should invest in a dictionary. Look up both the words "loophole" and "design".

The legendary "Starkiller Ranch" Thread
Time
This really isn't any contribution to the usefullness of this thread or anything, but after hearing somebodys suggestion of redubbing TC-14 with C3-POs voice, I thought how interesting it would have been had Lucas decided to make threepeo one of many droids with that same voice. It would have been just sort of a fun cameo having the droid introduce himself as TC-14 with Anthony Daniels voice. That would have been great hearing that voice speak the opening lines of the film. In Ep II the same voice could have been the voice of Clegg's droid or even just make him Padme's droid from the start. Would have been a lot better than "I'm building a droid..."

Oh, and I really think the "I'll give you 500 credits if you'll take." fits in really well with threepios lot in life. Maybe it is a little silly, but it is funny and not too over the top like most of the threepio scene shown later in Ep. II. And it isn't that Anakin and Padme need him, the guy pretty much gave them the droid so they take him. Probably Padme thinks some tech's back in the capitol might be able to do something with him. Anyway, I don't think the audience is going to be thinking "Why would they want the five hundred credits, it isn't the point. The point is to establish that the Lars family doens't want him, and with this line it is accomplished. I really like it. Actually I am getting more and more excited about the Ranch Ep 1 and Trooperman's Ep.2

Can we make the podrace just one lap? This might make it seem shorter and heighten the tension. Maybe use the best parts from all the laps and combine them into one extended lap.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For my own personal edit of episode 1, I cut the majority of the podrace scene and made it just a hair over 3 minutes long. It runs really smoothly too. One part for example, is where the tusken raiders are shooting at the pods, they hit one pod, it jumps to a close up of the drivers face, then jumps back to showing the pod explode. It fits together seemlessly by cutting the shot of the drivers face and just showing the thing take a hit from the raiders sniper and then explode. There are many scenes like this, it is amazing how much can be removed and not make any difference to the over all race. I really don't like the podrace scene and decided that since it coulden't be taken out completely I would cut it down to almost nothing. I am surprised how well it turned out. In fact I cut right from the "You've never finished a race before?" part straight to Shmi telling Anakin to be careful, then Qui-gon saying to trust your feelings. then the race starts, and three minutes later its all over and we have a freed slave.

Just a suggestion, but I think doing something along these lines really keeps the podrace scene from bogging down the story.

Episode 3: Fan Editing Ideas Discussion
Time
Yeah that would be great, because that edit would be totaly possible!

Really if you wanted to turn his sabre red, it still makes perfect sence with Obi giving the sabre to Luke, as it is pretty clear it is the same sabre that Anakin has clip to his belt through the entire film. Just introduce the red sabre when Anakin ignites his sabre in front of the younglings. That easily implies that Palpatine gave him a new one, we don't need some impossible and complicated scene to explain this.

Favorite old-school star wars game?
Time
Yeah, I remember the old nes ones, I owned both. I still do actually. I loved Empire Strikes Back, the snowspeeder part was really fun. I never beat either one even though I spent hours at them. They would take so long to get to the further levels and by that time I would be getting tired of them. I escaped the Death Star, but died in the Tie Fighter Persuit. In Empire the furthest I made it was dagobah.

Favorite old-school star wars game?
Time
My favorite game ever was Dark Forces. I was a bit disappointed by Dark Forces II, I liked Kyle being the Han Solo mercenary type, thought it felt more like a part of the Star Wars universe that was seperate from Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight. Though it was still pretty cool using a light saber and force powers. I really liked Jedi Knight II though, but Jedi Academy was a bit too easy. Wish they would make another game with the mercenary/freelance spy feel to it. One reason I liked Shadows of the Empire so much. One game that I hated at first but grew on me was Episode I racer. Yeah, I know it is just a stupid stupid marketing thing, but when given the chance, some friends, and lots of caffine, it can be fun staying up late and passing the controllers around.

However can't really be compared to the likes of X-Wing, Tie Fighter or any of the classics.

By the way, I used to own the floppy version of X-Wing, and about a year ago I bought the collector's cd-rom version from ebay, does anybody know if the cd-rom version has the expansion packs on it or not?
