Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
The guy holds out a cigarette-like object as he says this. It was obviously a bit of an anti-smoking message in the middle of the film. At least that is the way it always seemed to me. If it is going to be kept I really like the idea of just sticks. It does make it seem more like drug slang, and makes it seem less like it is trying to give the message that smoking kills.
I honestly don't see "You wanna buy some sticks?" any less understandable than "You wanna buy some death sticks?" I really think "sticks" is much more on par with typical real world drug names than "death sticks" is.

If you really, honestly look at it, wars never began from religion. A man says God told him to go kill all these people in a holy war. No, God makes a good excuse, I mean if God said it it is all alright then. Religion is merely used as an excuse. Religion itself is not to blame.
If the excuse of religion was not used, then there would have been some other excuse.

I do believe in the early days there alot more kicking in football than there is today. Also, I believe that ball used to be rounder in shape. But, just because a ball is not perfectly circular, does that mean that is is not a ball?

What is wrong with preplanned plays? As meantioned before, football requires one thing soccer does not: strategy. It is a game that requires intelligence, not just brute stength. It shares some qualities with chess.

Football imho, is much more exciting to watch. Atleast there is alot more scoring. To me nothing is sports compares with watching a team that is behind trying to move the ball down field to score with less than two minutes to play and no time outs.

Ric, football and baseball became popular in America long before tv was around.

Ric was making an observation of football as it is today, not the way it was before the TV was popular. To me American football is painful to watch with all those stupid outs. Like every ten seconds the timer stops. Anyway, you prefer American football and you think it is better. That is fine. The rest of the world has little or no interest in it, but I can't think of anywhere other than America that lacks an interest in real football/futbol/"soccer" There is nothing wrong with you liking American football better than what the rest of us like. Yanks have always decided to float their own direction.
I didn't read the part where somebody said there was a problem with preplanned plays, and I don't believe there is a problem with it myself, but I fail to see any simularities between American football and chess.

The only thing that bothers me about American football is that they stole the name of a game that had been around longer. It is just really confusing. I like football better than baseball or basketball, but I don't have a problem with them because I am not forced to call (our) football by a different name for clairifications sake we refering to them. I always feel bad for imigrants that live in America who are forced to call it "soccer"

Real football? You wouldn't happen to be talking about that American game where they run with a somewhat egg shaped object (certianly nothing resembling a ball. Ball n. any round, or spherical, object; sphere; globe) in their hands. That odd game doesn't even employ the use of a real ball, and there is very little contact between the players feet and the thing they call a ball. In real football a bunch of guys kick around aball with theirfeet. If by "real football" this isn't what you meant then please disregard this post. Sorry.

I completely agree with you, there was never any indication of Jedi blue or green (and sometimes purple if you whine enough) and Sith red. I know most people here seem to dislike the EU for the most part, but I always thought games like KOTOR or Jedi Knight 1, 2 and Academy, as well as the Tales of the Jedi comics always had a bit more of an OT feel to them when you would see a group of Jedi all with different coloured blades. In the PT we are stuck with only three colours
(4 but only 1 purple one ever. That honestly doesn't make sence at all either, do you have to be the head of the council to have a purple blade or something?) I really liked how MagFan made Duku's blade yellow, I have always thought the yellow blades looked really cool.

I agree with Paul and think that scenes like the area battle would look a lot cooler with more colours than just green and blue. But when reading discussions elsewhere regarding lightsabre colours, I seem to get the feeling many of us are content with the good = blue, green and bad = red.

Info Wanted: has anyone done a VCD to DVD 'Star Wars Saga' preservation?
Time
The VCDs are pretty bad quality. In some ways a VHS transfer might look better, even though VCD is suppose to be better quality it is extremly blocky. Hmm, is the VCD version of Episode 1 the same as the VHS? Is there any laser disc --> DVD transfer of Episode 1 that does not have any of the added scenes from the DVD. I would like a theatrical release of it, if it exists.

I have the 2000 VCD releases of the SE Trilogy, on each CD if I copy the .dat file to my computer and rename it .mpg I can play them right on my PC as mpeg files, then I can use a program (like tmpeg) to merge the file from disc one and disc two of each movie back into one file. I suppose from that point it would take nothing more than converting the mpeg file to mpeg-2 and authoring it onto a DVD, then you will have a nice overly poor quality version of the 1997 SE on DVD. I am not sure if every VCD works with the renaming the .dats to .mpg but I know it works on my trilogy set.

X-MEN 3 PSYCHO REVIEW
Time
She didn't do a lot of talking in the first one so I didn't mind her, in the second one she sucked, in the third one she wouldn't shut up and they gave her a lot of a bigger role. Out of all the X-men they killed off in the Last Stand, Storm would have been the one I would have merely said "Well, Darn" and then enjoyed the movie even more.

Still doesn't mean she can act. I have only really seen her in the x-men movies and in James Bond, but that is plenty for me to see she can't act. However, acting ability no longer matters in our society, she looks hot so she gets roles.

X-MEN 3 PSYCHO REVIEW

Hey DAYV are you sure about that scene with Scott in the hospital? Where did you hear about it? I have been searching online and there are rumors of four different endings, but every site says that they are rumors and have not been confirmed. I am starting to think it is false because everytime I hear the endings decribed they are different. Example: one place says Scott wakes up in a hospital, another says it shows a scene of the dam and a red light bursts out of it and the screen goes to black.

Wait a second. Cyclops dies?! Forgive my Marvel Universe ignorance, but isn't he the leader of the X-Men? Do these movies even remotely follow the comic universe at all? I haven't seen any of the movies, but from the trailers, they all seem to be Wolverine-fests with a little bit of Captain Picard (I know he's Professor Xavier...) mixed in there.

IN THE INTERNATIONAL CUT OF THE FILM CYCLOPS IS SHOWN IN A HOSPITAL BED, AND HE HAS AMNESIA. SO, CYCLOPS IS ALIVE.

But we see his headstone at the end next to Jean's and the professors. Did they edit that part out of the international cut? I didn't like how they played his charecter down so much in the films. He hardly had any screen time in X2.

Blade Runner Finally Gets It's Due
Time
greencapt, you've never seen the director's cut? I have seen both, there really isn't much of a difference other than the voiceovers and the end. I like the new end better, and I don't mind loosing the voiceovers, but there are a few scenes, especially towards the end during the big show down that feel like they are shortened, I didn't like that.

Anyway, I feel your pain. I am always big on theatrical releases, I want what I saw the first time. It really is annoying to have to buy such a large set just to get the version you want. But I do understand why they are doing it this way, it would cost too much to release it seperatly and few would want it over the others. I am just happy they are all being released. Not to mention they are all anamorphic.

The Reason the OOT was released
Time
I am sure that is one reason. Now we can no longer claim them preservation projects, now they will be entirely illigitimate (however not in every sense). But honestly, I wonder how many people actually own the bootlegs? The majority of fans nowadays is content with the 04 DVDs. And not all the ones that aren't content own them, so in actuallity really very few own bootlegs. I obtained my to hold me off until there was an official DVD release, but then that didn't turn out to be worth peeing on, then there was a second release, and as it turned out it was also not worth peeing on. Now we are on release number three in three years, and it honestly isn't worth peeing on.

All we ever wanted was a DVD quality version of the films we grew up on. They said no can do, it doesn't exsist anymore. So we found it and made it ourselves. Now they are giving us the same thing we made ourselves. I really don't see how this should encourage us to buy it. If it is all to stop bootlegging he is only giving us what we already have, just a slight better.

The whole thing is honestly retarded, it is actually quite unbelievable. I refuse to play there games. How many time do you have to buy of film before you leagally own it? How many times? I have bought it four times already and that is with never buying any of the DVDs. Should my LD backups still be considered bootlegs? Am I a pirate for owning what I own?
