I think the Star Wars prequels offend me more than about any other movie I have ever seen. I symapthize you Ingo, sometimes when I see the prequels (or even recollect them), especially episode II and III, I become so offended that I too become crippled and cease to function properly. Other thing that offend me are:
Silly obsessive fanboys who worship the PT
Trolls
Over use of CG in movies
Overly violent first-person shooters
there are many other things, but thinking of things that offend me to write this list has offended me greatly and I can barely function enough to type at the moment.

Watch this funny darth vader video
Time
That Darth Vader being an ass video was so funny I cried. Does anybody know if a high quality version exists anywhere? I have a great fan edit idea. It would be more of a prank idem. Imagine watching Empire Strikes Back with a few friends and coming to this scene instead of the original. How funny would that be. It would be possible to branch this right? Where you could just select a different angle and have the original scene again. I think I could redo the video, the sound might be a little more challenging.

Would any one else be interested in a copy of Empire with these scene added? Or this video in DVD quality? Would it fit under the fan-edit catagory?

Weird Al's "Don't Download this Song" Video

Yeah, I kept looking at him thinking something seemed off about him, then I realized he shaved the mustache.

It is funny, but moreover it is very accurate. The video is animated, it is about downloading mp3s, it is very ironic. It makes fun of how out of proportion the record industry has taken it. It is kind of refreshing to have an artist write lyrics like "don't steal from artist such as me, how else will I afford another solid gold humvee, or diamond studded swimming pools, these things don't grow on trees." Another great line goes somewhere along the lines of the RIAA will sue you whether you're an old woman or a seven year old girl. The video has police men chasing a young kid and constantly shooting bullets at him.
If you, like me, feel the record and movie industry are contantly throwing out lesser and lesser quality products, then blaming lack of sells on piracy, you'll get a kick out of this video. I don't support piracy, but they throw it way beyond what is warranted, in my opinion. I thought a lot more people on these boards would have comments on this subject.

I tried to watch an episode, I really did. But about half way through I started pounding my head into my keyboard, so I turned it off and deleted the episode, then went out and bought a new keyboard. I think it would have been cool if they would have made a whole new spin off series and developed their own charecters. I know they said that they believe Kirk, Spock and Bones to be charecters like Hammlet that can be portrayed in many different ways, but honestly, Shatner is Kirk! And they don't seem like they are trying to portray the charecters in their own way, they seem like they are trying to act just like the original actors. I burst out laughing when I first heard the new Chekov speak. I guess it is only for the extreme ST fans.

And to try to un-derail the thread, I saw one of the new Star Trek SEs, I really don't think the whole thing is as sinister as the Star Wars SEs. It looks like all they are trying to do is update the special effects so they can HD them. It looks pretty bad quality because they are doing it so low budget (guess it is becoming a trend to do half hearted work when updating special effects.

The X-Files - Worth Watching?
Time
I just started watching the series again, a friend loaned them to me, I am on the seventh episode. I had nearly forgotten what a great show it was. I never watched the show in any kind of order, I would just catch an episode every now and then, I have never made it a point to watch any show regularly. I am looking forward to watching it straight through.

Things that piss me off when opening new DVDs
Time
I'm not used to those click snap things, I rented a DVD a while back and I wasn't expecting those things, I had never seen a DVD with them before. I was having a hard time getting the stupid thing open until one of them went flying through the air then I realized it had clasps on the side. It flew off pretty easily so I probably wasnt the first person to rent that movie and not notice the clasps.

Okay, so the bits of plastic that get stuck to the spine that you never get off again, when did that start? None of my older DVDs have that, and just about all my new ones do. I swear the movie/music industry is trying to screw us over in every way possible. It is probably part of a plot to get us disatisfied with our DVD packaging so that we are more accepting of the new upcomiing strictly digital age. I display my video collection on my shelf in pride, I'm not looking forward to it becoming just a list of links on my start menu to online files that I will have to access with a key or password.

Yeah, having the complete original series on DVD makes all the difference. In fact I always thought it would be cool if they updated the TOS special effects, and I am excited to see they sre doing it, it will be interesting. I really wouldn't mind Hayden's head being pasted on Shaw's body if they original existed in good quality somewhere. I have never even seen the 04 versions of Star Wars so they don't bother me. But I hate how the old ones have been so neglected.

If by "grounded in scripture" you are referring to the bible, good luck finding such teachings, they aren't there.

Could Lucas screw movies up anymore (Indy 4)
Time
For everyone saying there won't be an Indy 4, I once thought that about an Episode One. It will be frightening to see what they come up with. Ah, remember the crystal thing at the end of TPM? Maybe in this one Indy will travel to the planet of Naboo (through a stargate sort of ancient transportation device) and be joined by a young Gungan lad, named Tall Tall Circular (it is early in the morning, best I could think of, forgive me. I was sort mixing the concept of Shortround and Jar Jar) in search of this acient lost artifact.

Actually, judging by the track record, that seems to make it more likely to be released in 2007. Remember how those films were dead? How they didn't exist anymore? That they would never be released again? The only time one of their silly little marketing ploys like that turned out to be true, tragically, was "The Star Wars Triology... One Last Time!" when the faces set came out. Actually even that one is no longer ture as of 12-09-06 since they have just released them again... for the first and last time on DVD. We'll see, time will tell.

The SW Novel - Alan Dean Foster
Time
What is odd to me is as to why the novel is credited to George Lucas and not Alan D. Foster. Foster was a much better known author than Georgie, as George only has one novel credited to him and he didn't even write the thing. I am surprised even today that the reprints of the novel are credited to George. I would really love to have a copy of "Star Wars" by Alan Dean Foster. That one would go on my shelf right between by H.G. Wells' books and Splinter of the Mind's Eye. However as it is Star Wars by George Lucas just doesn't fit on my shelf.

Sci-fi but fiction based on nonfiction

Science Fiction..... based on non-fiction.... so what does any of this have to do with non-fiction?

This is the most confusing thread in the history of the universe.

And hell suddenly froze over and pigs soared about in the sky as Stinky-Dinkins very unexpectingly said (perhaps for the first time in 289 posts) something entirely relevent and true.

It isn't an irrational fear of pigs. It is a religious belief that pig are unclean, Jews also view pigs as unclean, this is where Islam got the idea from.

Also that artical starkiller posted, it is a bunch of tripe, I am surprised it was ever published or even written in the first place. The guy went a little too far. However, the idea of hog greesing the bullets and letting them know about it would make them less eagar to get shot. Bombarding the cities with pig blood is just sick though.

Also I love how everything is right or left propaganda. "Damn liberal democrates!" "Bloody right winged republicans!" I love how everybody chooses a side and sticks to it.
Left: Bush only started this war to finish is dad's unfinished business, we're only there for the oil.
Right: Ingorant illinformed leftists!
Every story has too sides, but every one just gives into the propaganda and believes everything said by the side they choose. Nobody ever thinks what it is really like. No body really grasps what is at stake here, or how far people of a certian religious belief and willing to carry their believes. Not all Muslims are terrorists, but the ones that are are drivin by a life-time of doctrination. Everything they have ever believed in or been taught points to us and labels us the root of all that is evil.

Interesting, how you choose the words "arrogant, ignorant, and "ill-informed." I think the writer of that article was a little bit too enthusiast about his ideas. But at the same time, everything he said about the Islamic belief system is spot on. All you have too do is find yourself a English translation of Al-Quran and read for a bit. I think all of America was going through an extremely arogant bout right after 11-09-2001. So I will give you that, and for the ignorant, I will give you that one as well, but ill-informed? I don't see that applying. Perhaps it is you who are ill-informed? It goes back to what I was saying, when somebody is completely void of any religion, it makes it impossible for them to understand people who are. They will always regard them as ignorant and superstitious. And with that, I love how it is the religious who are the bigoted ones.

See, Starkiller is NOT an overly sensitive person. (and I am not saying you are Arnie, but a lot of Americans and much of the world is.) It isn't that Starkiller is saying to jump out of the closet and say boo to scare them. You have to understand the way your enemy works. Most people have not a clue about Islam. If you know anything about them, pigs are unclean animals. People buried next to a dead pig would be the ultimate dishonor for them. It was a good example. Arnie, you seem to think they go killing themselves in suicide bombings because they arn't right in the head. This seems to be the typical way of thinking of unreligious people regarding terrorism, which much of Europe and American is completely unreligious. They have motives and reasons for what they do. And you can bet they won't stop, not as long as one of them is left. The best way to beat them is to work at taking away their resorces (something detained captured terrorists can help us do) and/or to cut them off at the pass, before they are able to carry out their current operation (another thing detained terrorists can help us with).

Lord Of The Rings Limited Edition DVDs
Time
Before they had released just the right amount of Lord of the Rings sets without over doing it, now they seem to be taking Lucas's example and going a little too far. Since it contains new material, it isn't aimed at the people who don't own the movie, it is aimed at the same crowd who already paid for the Extendent Editions. Honestly, this DVD thing is getting out of hand. Wish they would release just the documentaries, that is what every one wants anyway, but since it contains the movie they can charge more for it and make more money off it. I also like how they made the 2-disc extended edition in the cheapest way possible to produce, by making it one DVD 18 instead of using the same ones that were the original EE. I foresee LFL quality becoming the industry standard, not quite there yet, but we're on our way.
