Too true. Also if everybody had their own threads it would be pretty lame. It isn't a free world, not really. It is all just an illusion (the freedom, not the world). If everybody had their own thread, there everybody would want people to post in their thread, when people don't post in their thread they will feel annoyed, conversations would be divided over a zillion threads named after people, and in each of these little threads, very little pointful conversation would take place. This is why it is not a free world, because if it was everybody would do what they want, and if everybody did what they want, they would then NOT be doing what everybody else wants them to do and this has the potential to make everybody pretty unhappy. For example, when you wake up in the morning, do you have a choice if you would like to go to school or work? Can you choose to toss out that stupid report your boss wants on his desk by noon tomorrow? Or that research paper that if due by Thursday at 5:00? If you were really free, couldn't you just skip finals week? Or take a whole four months off work for the Christmas holiday? The world is not free. We are all slaves. And we are all slaves to any number of masters at that. The more "Freedom" that comes, the more freedom we don't have. We could be free, in the past we were free, but in the current way in which society is build we can never be free.

NES: Lengend of Zelda, Duck Hunt, Mario Bros. 3, Battle Toads (Excite Bike, and Ninja Turtles 2 are also worthy of mention)
SNES: A Link to the Past, Star Fox, Donkey Kong Country
Gameboy: Link's Awakening, Tetris
N64: Ocarnia of Time, Star Fox 64, Shadows of the Empire, Goldeneye (would say Perfect Dark, but GE had much better replay value in single player)
Gamecube: Never played it. I was excited about it for the new Zelda game (WW), but after I saw how it looked I lost most my interest, then once I saw it played I lost all the rest of my interest.
DS: Never played it.
Wii: Never played it. But I am interested in trying out Twilight Princess. Probably I will just buy a used Gamecube and get the GC version.

Role number three refers to trading of bootlegs and screeners of current or recent theatrical releases. I would take this to mean that while Episode III was in theaters there was no trading of screeners which would be very illeagal. However now that it is out, I don't think it would there would be a problem trading the timecoded screener, as long as you own the original. The cough* reason we are here *cough was for the original theatrical releases, which was not at all availible on DVD, but that we all owned (or should have own) in some form in order to legitimately get the laserdisc versions. In other words, it is about not trading movies that have not yet been (but are going to be) officially released on DVD, as well as not trading copies of retail DVDs. I do not believe there is any restriction against trading theatrical versions of films whose official DVD release was significantly altered.

Wow, you are taking all these things quite seriously. What is with the biting attitude. Everybody is having a bit of fun here, you post lots of nonsense that goes on in your life in here, and a few people make fun of it a little. So what, you put yourself on the line, and it seems it was worth it doesn't it? You have a bunch of 13 year olds jerking off while reading your posts (not accusing anybody) but that line about the college university thing has the potential to hit some people pretty hard and for no reason. There is a good chance a number here DO go to a college. And great for them! I am proud of them. A lot of people do not even make it that far. Some people are even proud they made it through highschool. You are a single "university" student, but there are a lot of people here who are supporting families, please don't go around pissing on them for going to a "college" instead of a university. I have a good number of friends who would be delighted to attend the crappiest of American or Canadian colleges but don't even have the fortune enough to do that. Try not to be so obsessed with yourself and your massive intellect and try to realize you are pretty blessed to be where you are now. Also try to realize we don't all spent our time talking about you, as you seem to be fond of thinking.

Oh, and just a hint, guys told like overly stuckup and vain women. At least not to many decent guys. I think you will certianly deserve any guy you end up with, if your attitude offline is anything like your attitude online.

Do you have a gun?
Time
Dudes! He's a cop! Don't tell him anything!

Just kidding.

Yes, I have a number of guns. I am not a hunter and have no real interest in hunting, but like you, I really enjoy shooting. I think it is important to know how to properly handle and use guns. I think there would be a lot less gun casualties if people were not so gun-phobic. And it is stupid to say that guns are a big contributer to violence, if people want to harm people there are plenty of ways to do it. If we get guns banned world wide, what do we do next, ban kitchen knifes? I do not think guns should be unbelievable difficult to get, but I definately don't think they should be super easy to get either. No matter what laws they make, people are still going to be able to get fire arms on the black market with relative ease.

I love feminine logic, it is so delightfully vain. So pleasantly idiotic. It kind of makes you feel sorry for the poor things. Makes you want to take them home and painstakingly teach them that they are not, in fact, the center of the universe. Of course, any reasonable fellow would concede that this would be a ludicrously futile exercise.

"Banning of OCPMovie"
Time
Alright, I am sorry OCP got banned. I haven't bothered reading everything so I have no opinion about what happened. But he did bring up something from the past, and that was how he was posting how badly the X0 project got owned and how pathetic it was they wasted so much time and money. He really was being a jerk, there was no point to it at all. He was practically spamming the boards writing the same thing over and over. I have usually had a lot of repect for OCP, but his actions that day made me loose a lot of respect for him. I simply posting something along the line of "why are you acting like such as ass" and I believe I went on to say that he doesn't have to care about the x0 if he does not want to, but there are those of us who still do. Since then he has on multiple occasions MISQUOTED that particular post I mentioned above, in true yellow journalist manner. It is pretty annoying. As you see he has used it once again. Having spent a great deal of time on the boards at that time, I can also say that several of the other posts that he quotes are also edited to change there meaning as well. I like ocp, but I have to say he really was behaving like a drunken idiot on the occasion that he mentioned.

Okay, I read the whole thread, sorry he was banned, but what a dork. What the hell was he thinking. Yes, people did bootleg his work at conventions, that sucks. But I think it has happened to just about every preservation and fan edit/project from the beginning. Even the Phantom Edit was often sold for unbelievable prices on ebay and on the bootleg market. This has been an issue since day one. It always will be. The movie industry has been trying to put a stop to their own movies being pirated for a long time and they have a lot more money and resources to take care of it than any of us. They have not been sucessful so far, so why would ocp's efforts to put an end to this have been sucessful? I don't think his effort to put a stop to his own stuff being pirated is any ground AT ALL to even partly justify his pirating others work. Even selling his own preservation efforts is completely against everything this site and the whole fanedit/preservation community has ever stood for. A lot of people here are stuggling with money, many of which have families to care for as well as themelves, but it gives nobody the right to sell other peoples work. Really doesn't give them the right to sell their own preservation efforts either. Even though Delected Magic was ocp's own project, the source material was not his.

vbangle, this is a totally different situation from those drama queens in the off topic section. OCP is making his own kind of drama with this thing, but at least he has been a valuable member of the community and made some very good contributions. Our old friends from the off topic thread have made no contributions to anything (neither have I, but then again I do not consider my self one of the "most important" members).

Also I wish people would look at both sides of the story before posting stupid comments about how wrong the form moderaters were. I don't know why OCP makes such a big deal about the X0, many people seem to think it is a retarded effort, I for one am looking forward to it. If you don't care about it, it really isn't hurting you. Personally, I think OCP's classic editions look like crap. I spent hours downloading it and was really looking forward to it, when I finally finished downloading it and put it in to watch it, I was amazed at how awful it look and how badly the laserdisc material stood out in contrast to the SE DVDs. Awful! But I didn't feel it necessary to go to his thread and spam the words "YOU GOT OWNED!!" in every other post.

I think they should just make a new TV show with the exact same script as the radio show. That would be awesome.

It wasn't so much the script, but the acting and casting that I didn't like. I feel had Douglas Adams lived to see the movie through, it would have been much better. But then again, I really didn't like the TV series that much either, though I love the radio plays (the first two phases, the far more recent phases 3-5 I did not enjoy as much, felt more like full cast audio books, which is more or less what they were). To the old radio plays are the best, because they were the original. Though the books (the first two of which were based off the radio program) are quite good too. I think one of the greatest parts of any of them is the narraration, and the little quips from the guide that randomly interrupt the story. Great stuff. This was completely absent from the film, which is another reason I believe made it turned out so awful.

Ric, you mentioned four forms it was published it, however there was a video game that was also written by Douglas Adams and has its own variation of the story. But then again video games are not a linear forms of story telling, so it probably should not count. But, I agree, the books are great.

Request: Edits and Xvids - file size limits help

Uh, yeah... So this xvid thing could be really good for those of us with pathetic internet speeds. I wish fanedited would use this for their new rapidshared method. Those would go together excellently. The worst thing for us slow speed people is dual-layer, which seems to be getting more and more common. When you complain about it everybody just says to dl it and shrink it yourself, it is not shrinking that is the trouble, it is the downloading.

As for the game I probably enjoyed more than any other in my entire life, it would be A Link to the Past. There are plenty of other games I enjoyed, and plenty of other games I would rather play right now than A Link to the Past, but I cannot think of any game I ever enjoyed playing more. Coming in at a distant second, would be Monkey Island 2, and Grim Fandango. Dark Forces, Ocarina of Time, and Golden eye rank somewhere in there too.

I was not participating in any console wars, I don't think any of us were. I was merely making an observation. It really doesn't matter to me what happens to what. I do not and will not own a wii, xbox 360, or a PlayStation 3. I do not own a Gamecube, Xbox or PS2. I have a poorly functioning PSX a buddy of mine gave to me when he bought his PS2, though I really don't have any games for it and have never really played it. I have my old N64, and regular Nintendo and that is all. If I were to buy another system it would be the GameCube just for the sake of Twilight Princess. Console wars were at their hight back in the N64/PSX/Dream Cast days. Back then they were all different enough to mean something. Now it seems almost every game is released for every system.

I agree PlayStation is a big name, which is another reason I think it is going loose this round. Remember Atari? Sega? They too were big names, but they both eventually crashed and burned. Honestly though, I really do not see this happening to Nintendo, They were slow to accept change during a time where cartriges were out they they but full faith in the cartrige game. Then when they did convert over a dvd system, they didn't even make it dvd compatible, which was a big thing at the time. Another of their big mistakes was childish games. I still feel the N64 is an awsome system, but I own less than a dozen games for it, and I really can't think of any that I don't have that are worth playing. Nintendo makes the mistake of relying on there titles to pull them along. I think the wii is going to be different though. It really looks they like they are getting serious. The new nunchuck thing is a really interesting idea too.

Also the CD-i was a joke. It was meant to be some revolutionary new entertainment system, Cd player, video player, and video game player all in one. Instead it crashed and burned.

Ric, I think the wii remotes only send off a small beam of IR light (just like a TV remote), in that case they should last a long time. Do they actually use special batteries? If they do that is retarded.

I personally prefer my bunnies bald. You know they have to come out sooner or later, and when you remove them and find they have shed inside your nose, you'll find yourself sneezing fur for days. However, if you shave them first, or better, dunk them is a small vat of nair, you'll find the whole process goes mych more plesantly. Also, don't take this the wrong way, you can oil their furless bodies a bit and they go in much less painfully. The only trouble with this is they also fall out a lot easier. There is nothing as uncool as being at a party with more bunnies in your nose than anybody else, and when everybody is looking at you and admiring your bunny stuffing abilities to have a couple of the little buggars come slipping out slide across the floor. The worst part of it was that they were so oily they were really hard to pick back up.

I really don't even see how the PS2 is holding up as well as it has. I think it is just fan loyalty from the PSX. I think the Wii and the XBOX 360 are going to knock it out of the water. That is of course, if Nintendo gets some better games than they had on the GC. I think the new Zelda will the the initial pull towards the system. I imagine XBOX 360 will reign at the top though. Is the PS3 going to have a new controller layout? Honestly, what's up with not changing the system name or the controller style? It is pretty dumb being able to predict the system name a decade before it is released. I mean, who would have guessed the Gamecube would have been followed by the Wii, or the XBOX by the XBOX 360? Talk about totally random names. Totally random system names seems to be what console systems are all about these days. PlayStations 3, we all saw that one coming. Comon Sony. You can do better than that. What would be really cool is if they would jump straight to, say the PS4, now that would be random and unexpected. They could perhaps come along a year later and make another sort of PSP and called it the PS3. Oh well. Good thing plenty of people still feel that if you have something with the Sony brand name on it that they have without question the best money can buy.
