What could have made the PT better?
Time
Congradulations! bkev, you have become the 100th poster to post this exact same thread! Your prize will be in the post tomorrow!

Just playing. This have been posted over and over, but you're new here so it is forgivable

Seriously, when I read your question the words, "plot", "story", "directing" and "acting" come to mind.

bkev, some of what you are reading in the RPG thread is just nonsense, but a lot of it is actually references to what was speculated about for many years. We have known pretty much nothing of the Clone Wars for over 20 years other than its name and the suggestion that it involved cloning. It had always been said that Boba Fett's armour was left over from the clone wars, and that Boba Fett may have even been a surviving clone. So, many of us had this image of all these guys in Boba Fett style armour fighting against the republic, with maybe the Jedi participating on the Republic's side, or trying to mediate and make peace. Some have even thought that there might have been Jedi cloning going on as well. I myself always believed the reason cloning was involved was to duplicate the best fighters. This was way before Dolly the sheep, back when cloning seemed so much more like a sci-fi sort of idea than a scientific one. Back then when we thought of cloning in a scifi context, I don't think too many of us thought of needles and embryos and babies in test tubes. I imagined they would have machines you would step into, and out would step two of you. And in this way both sides would be able to produce ridiculously large quantities of troops. Imagine how chaotic that would be? A war like that could go on literally forever. No matter how many casualties each side has they would just keep cloning new troops. It would be terrible, the whole galaxy becoming a war zone, innoccent people getting caught up in the cross fire and no end to the war in sight. Just endless destruction. If it was something like that it would make a ton of sense for the Jedi to have to step in and say, "Uh, this has to stop..."

I bet Rush Limbaugh's saddened by this too, as I think Monster Mash is his favorite song.

And dang, only 69? Why is it that famous people seem to die so young compared to average joes?

I've always thought they usually live longer. But yeah, 69 is young and I remember listening to Monster Mash one time when I was a kid, we were going down the road and I was laying across the back dash of my Dad's car, times sure have changed a lot.

I've always thought they usually live about the same length as the rest of us, provided drugs are not involved.

Ferris, your dad was a cop and he let you lie across the back dashbord without a seat belt?? My faith in law enforcment is shattered!!

He is a Mormon, so I can believe it. I spent most of my childhood years growing up around Mormons. Even had a temple in my home town. They are very, very, very moral people. I swear, if the world consisted only of Mormons, the world would be as near a perfect place as imaginable, from the standpoint of very little crime, no aids, no illigitimate children (but droves of ligitimate ones! We are talking like quadruple the current population!). I have to hand it to them on that part, they raise very good and level headed kids. I was a preacher's kid and there was no end to the trouble I could get myself into. My Mormon friends kept me in check (kind of a positive version of peer pressure "You don't want to do that, you're going to get yourself in trouble! Come on, lets go play on the swings... You know you want to! Everybody else is doing it..."). I am pretty sure I was the only kid on the block (other than the hot girl with the single mother) who was not a Mormon.

It is pretty stupid society beats on middle ages white nerdy virgins, but considers is fairly common and mostly okay for a 15 year old to become pregnant and perfectly acceptable for her to have three more kids by the time she reaches 25 and still no husband from any of the four fathers...

No, I think they would have mentioned it if he had killed Luke's mother as well. It is obviouse he is a orphan, so if Vader killed his mother there would be no reason for Obi-Wan and Luke not to have talked about it. Luke seemed to have closure over his mother's death, based on the fact he immediately jumped to asking just about his father's rather than his parent's death. My guess is that after her husband was killed, Luke's mother moved to live with her brother and his wife or her sister and her husband depending on whether it is Beru or Owen that is her blood relation. I guess Owen could be Luke's paternal aunt. At any rate, It would make sense that she moved in with the Lars so they could help her out during her diffucult time. I bet she died sometime when Luke would have been concious about it.

Hmm, I think they should call the second one Star Wars II: The Wrath of Vader! How fantastic of a name for a sci-fi film would that be!

The Matrix
Time
I saw the Matrix when it came out on video, and I was not too impressed really. I am a pretty big sci-fi fan, but it just felt like a special effects fest to me more than it felt like a good sci-fi film. It constantly felt like it was showing off. The end of it got so lame I was laughing out loud. Especially at the very end when he flies up into the screen. While I harshly criticize the first one, I had only seen it that once and just wasn't impressed, I didn't like it or hate it. It was after watching it a couple of more times that I really decided that I hated it. When the second one came out on video I saw about the first half of it and couldn't take much more (I think I walked out of the room during some retarded scene where Neo was fighting large quantities of agent Smith, that scene had me cringing so much I decided it really wasn't worth sitting through any more of it). Haven't even seen so much as a trailer for the third one, nor do I intend to.

George Lucas calls Spiderman 3 'silly'
Time
I do have to doubt that reporters word simply based on the fact that he said Cate Blanchet looks great, yet the photo they have indicates otherwise. She looks like the skeleton of Daniel Craig. Eeeeee.

Anyway, one thing to consider, is that that story is from May 09, yesterday. While the one Sunday posted is from March 19 2006, over a year ago. It is entirely possible something has changed on the TV series front. Lucas is a pretty flacky guy (come on, no matter how much of a hard on you have for him, you simply can't deny his flackiness), tends to change his mind a lot. Though I could never bring myself to believe he would be making two made for TV movie of only an hour long each. That isn't even worthy to be called a made for TV moive, it would be more like a short lived two episode long TV series. I am sure this is not the case. But if the TV series did evolve into two full length made for TV movies, I for one would not be in the least surprised.

It is annoying they are taking place between 3 and 4, does anybody even really care what happened during that time? I think it would be more interesting pre TPM or post ROTJ.

I wonder what the clone wars was all about? Did they make a whole bunch of clones to fight each other or did only one side have clones? Who did they clone?

My guess is that one side developed cloning and cloned all their best warriors. Probably the other side retailiated and did the same. How would that be huh? To clone you ultimate fighting champions over and over and over until you have whole armies of only your finest fighters. That would make sense to me. Darth Vader is probably a left over clone. Maybe that is why he wears the mask and has that weird breather thing. Maybe clone don't live as long as regular people, so he has to use life support.

Yeah, I really liked the Jacob thing too. That was IMHO the coolest scene all season. Unfortunatly don't expect any answers on the Jacob front for a very long time. I heard that ABC has ordered 48 more episodes of Lost, that are going to be broken up into 3 season of 16 episodes each. These will run from 2008-2010 each Feburary - May. When I heard 48 more episodes I was excited because that is approx. two season and I thought that would be just the perfect amount. Kind of disappointed they decided to break it into three. That means longer waiting between seasons, and less episodes to be rewarded with after the wait.

Anyway, with that Jacob scene we did get to see him for a brief second. He has long shaggy hair and possibly a bear, and looks very old. Before Ben opened the door to the little hut, I was half expecting to see an old mumuified corps sitting in a rocking chair (like Mrs. Bate's from Physcho), so it was funny when I found I was half right with the rocking chair thing and found the next best thing to a mumified corps, nothing. I really wasn't expecting that scene to pan out how it did though, I thought Locke would pull out his gun and shoot at the chair and that Ben would go nuts screaming "You killed Jacob!"

Honestly though, how weird was the Jacob thing when we have been subjected to smoke monsters and visions of dead people for the duration of the entire series? It was no shocker to me, in fact, I would not be surprised if Jacob turns out to be the smoke monster. I am sure there is some connection there. Remember when the writter said that in the end it would turn out there was nothing supernatural about the show, and that everything would be scientifically explainable. I wonder if they threw that out the window, or if they are going to pull at the strings of some pretty off the wall theoretical science. I am thinking the later. Especially with the book The Third Policeman in mind.

Harry was also a well known member of the community. That is why, I assumed, that Gwen's family was there. But now that you mention that he died while fighting to save everyone, I guess that is another reason why more people would be there. More believeable to me now. But yeah, that Gwen at the funeral thing really threw me off. To the point that I don't even remember anything else about that scene, I can't even remember exactly how the movie ended but I am definately not paying to see it again.

Yeah, that episode was amazing. Tiptup, Kelvin never had an eye patch, probably what you read was an old blog. When we first saw Mikhail (eye patch guy) on the video monitors in the pearl station it was only for a brief glimpse and there was a lot of speculation that maybe he was Kelvin and Desmond didn't actually kill hm after all. That is probably what the blog you read was talking about. Kelvin was also the US soldier who worked with Syid. He tells Desmond that after he got out of the army he joined Dharma. From this last episode it is pretty clear that when the "Hostiles" took out the Dharma camp they neglected to take out the two button pushers in The Swan station. Kelvin told Desmond that they were suppose to be relieved and replaced by two other guys, but that they never showed up, and that Kelvin's partner eventually killed himself. The reason Kelvin told Desmond the whole place was contaminated and that you couldn't leave without the biohazard suit was so he did not discover the boat that Kelvin intended to use to escape the island (a boat Ben did not even know about). Kelvin probably returned to the camp sometime in the beginning and found it abandoned and never went back. Not sure why Ben and his present company never bothered to check up on them or to make sure the button continued to be pressed, it seems they did not believe it was real either.

Anyway, this show is getting back to being as awesome as it used to be. Can't wait for the next two weeks! Then we will have a whole painful wait until next season. I was lucky enough to start watching the show on DVD, and I had just finished seeing all of season two merely a month or so before the start of season three. This is one of those shows I really wish I had not discovered until it was completely over and had all season on DVD. But then again, the speculation and discussion are half the fun

My Name Is Bruce: The most fucking epic movie ever?

Yeah, I think it'll be pretty cool. Love Bruce Campbell and the Evil Dead films.

Here is a clip of Bruce guest staring on Robot Chicken. One of the greatest moments in TV history of the last five years IMHO. Bruce Campbell, Morning Wood advertisment.

I really liked the Old Spice commercial he was in also, not that it was all that funny, it was just cool.

Notebook or desktop ... ?
Time
For me, I always take a laptop hands down over a desktop. I have yet to own a mac (though I am very pro Mac, I just find my pocket book favoring PCs). From my PC laptop experience, I can say they break down a lot more (I have owned three different brands too, so it isn't just the brand) and parts are a lot harder to get to fix them and a lot more expensive too. However, I am not sure how easy Mac desktops are to fix, so in the Mac world it may not be that different. Desktop PC are incredibly easy to pull old hardware out and throw in new hardware, while laptops are a pain in the rear end to pull apart.

I like to think Apple takes a lot more pride in their products than other companies, I know this used to be fairly true, not sure about now though. But every laptop I have ever owned broke down within the first year, so I always made it a habbit to get the extended warranty. But like I said, Macs may be a lot more sturdy.

Also from my experience, laptops are never as powerful as desktops (pretty sure this would be true for Macs as well), since you need a powerhorse for editing, you might want to go with the desktop. Hope that helps some. A real Mac user like Jay will be able to give better input though.

I am really not seeing any similiarity between Hanso and Mikhail (Kelvin was Desmond's room mate at the hatch, not the eye patch guy). I am sure they are not the same actor, and I am pretty certain they don't intend them to be the same guy. Also I think Ben would know who Hanso is, and he seemed to regard Mikhail as a crazy ex-soviet communications officer who would shoot him if he didn't give warning before approaching his house. I imagine if we are ever going to learn anything of Hanso on the show, tonight may be the night for that.

SW TV show Scrapped?
Time
An hour long each? That is barely fifteen minutes longer than a single episode of a TV show, and that is assuming the hour runtime is not including commercials. I bet later when lucas is asked why he changed it from a TV show to two made for TV movies he will say something along the lines of, "I never intended to do a live action TV series, that was made up by the media."

It is funny what he said about Spidey three. After the movie finished I was thinking how the PT must have set a new standard for how retarded a movie could be and still be taken serously and shatter the box office. While I was thinking that though, I also thought that at least Spidey III wasn't half has bad as Revenge of the Sith. Maybe he is just annoyed that ILM didn't do the special effects.

Whoa, and what is up with that kid playing Indy's son??? Has that kid been in anything for any other reason than comic relief? I foreseen a bunch of silly antics on his part being added to Indy 4. I guess he is as close as Lucas can get to a Jar Jar in a movie that takes place in the real universe.

Huh, Eddie Brock was mentioned in the first one? I can't believe I never noticed that. It was probably an oversight, since back then they did not know if there would be any sequels or if they would ever get the chance to depict Venom. All along they have tried to put as many characters names in as they could. Even Connor's is mentioned in the first one, but never shown.

I was at the book store yesterday and by chance found the novelization. It is actually written by George Lucas himself, and I must say, he is a pretty good writter. I hope he writes more science fiction novels in the future, I am really enjoying it. Anyway, it has a few things that are not in the movie. It even mentions what species Darth Vader is! He is of some race called Sith, it doesn't say what they are like though. I am betting reptilian.
