Ha! Better than Kubrick! Are you kidding? This Star Wars thing is just a fad, it will die down. I have seen Star Wars and American Graffiti, this Lucas guy doesn't even come close to Kubrick. I mean, have you seen A Clockwork Orange? Dr. Strangelove? 2001? Lucas made a cool movie, but it will all be forgotten in five years tops (unless there are sequels, then it might go on a little longer), Kubrick on the other hand... people will be watching his films for decades to come.

I visited four different GameStops and never found one that had all three games I wanted and today was the last day of the buy two get one free sale. So I finally ended up getting a bunch of cheap older games, I just spent $20 and got six games. Among them was Metal Gear Solid 2. Now, I just have to wait until my friend gets his PS3 so I can have his PS2, until then I have some pretty game boxes to stare at.

I had never played any of the Resident Evil games before, but had always heard a lot about them. So I started playing the second one, I spent so much time trying to get it set up so I could save my progress, it seems they didn't have NTFS file systems in mind when they designed the thing. I finally had to install good old Virtual PC along with WinME and a virtual hd formated in Fat32 in order to get it to work. After all that I stayed up late playing it, around 1 am I was walking past a broken window in the police station and these arms stuck through the window grabbed me, I nearly wet my pants and threw my laptop. It was awesome! Then I played it for about thirty more minutes and got really bored with it, too much running back and forth and wasting time. I like my adventure games and my action games to remain separate, a bit of each just doesn't work for me. I still think I want to get RE 4 though, it is over the sholder camera view right? I have heard a lot of people who don't like the other RE games say they love RE 4, so I think I will like it more.

She'll end up with Luke for sure. He is the real hero anyway, Han is a bit of a jerk and nearly left them for dead, it was probably his giant dog thing that talked him into going back to help. If there are any sequels, she'll end up with Luke, you'll see. I bet Han won't even be in the next one. Anybody ever see American Grafitti? The guy who played Han was in that too, I think. He can't act to save his life! But the guy who played Luke was great, I bet we will be seeing a lot more of him.

Oh, and what did everybody think of Carrie Fisher (the girl who played the princess)? Man, I'd be her only hope any day of the week!

Being more of a fan of the REALLY old stuff, I was very happy it was with Sandman (looked spot on!), though he is one of those kind of pointless villians (like the Vulture, Shocker, Electro, Kraven, Etc.), where Doc Ock and the Green Goblin were much more mainstream. Like Ash, I really didn't like Tophar Grace face poping our every time Venom said anything, and what was up with those teeth? Looked like the ones you can get from the $1 store. I really wished the Lizard would have come up. That probably would have been more exciting than the Sandman.

Did anyone else think the solution for the sybiote getting to earth was a bit too simplified. Especially with it landing right next to Spidey. And Ash, even though they killed off Venom (which did suck) don't forget that tiny little piece in Dr. Connor's lab (maybe Carnage will be in part 4, but I really hope not!). I really thought they would let Brock live so they could potentially bring him back.

I can't speak for the leter comic series, but of the originals he and Gwen never married. She was killed by the Green Goblin though in a scene very similiar to the one with Mary Jane at the end of the first Spider-man movie. I always though the blond haired Dunst would have made a good Gwen. Gwen had a pretty pointless role in this, but I guess it was cool to give another original comic character an appearance.

This is the end of Sam Raimi and Spider-man isn't it? Am I wrong in thinking that he said this would be his last? I think Dunst said she didn't want to do any more either. If they do make a fourth it will be a bit different. I'll sure miss the Bruce Campbell cameos.

The jazz scene wasn't humor at all. I didn't find it funny in the least. I appreciate what they were attempting to do by having Peter strut around town like an idiot. I totally get the point about trying to show how the suit is influencing him. I just thought it was poorly done. During those scenes my friend leaned over and said "Wow, did they just completely give up on this thing halfway through?" He voiced exactly what I was thinking.
Sean's comment is exactly how I felt through the rest of the film.

"You know who dies in this movie?

The fanbase."

Very true. My friend who went with me to see this (he is a huge marvel comics fan, and really liked the first two Spidey films) said that if they milked it enough to make a Spidey four that he would definitly be waiting for the DVD release so he could rent it rather than even bother with it in the theater. He is definitly part of that fanbase which no longer shows signs of a pulse.

When I first read Sean's death of fanbase comment I thought he was joking and being a little too hard on the film, but now that I have seen it, I realize it is actually a real spoiler. Sean, how bout putting some spoiler tags on that comment, you wouldn't want to spoil the ending for anybody.

Just got back from seeing it. Man, it was pretty awful. I really liked it from the start, up until about the Harry kidnaps Mary Jane scene, and from there it got pretty bad. The whole evil Peter thing was WAY too over the top. Just terrible. All the dialogue during that section was just painful. The others had plenty of campy moments in them, but I have cut them plenty of slack and still enjoy them both a lot. But this...

The raindrops scene in the second one was awesome. I love that seen. It was purposely campy, but other than the music it wasn't so retarted. The jazz scene was beyond campy. I don't even see the two scenes as comparable. I did like the beginning and the end of this movie though. It was just that mid section that totally lost it.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot. I hate how in just about ever scene with Venom talking he had Brock's head, I also hate his constant refering to himself as "I", that was an extreme oversight in the writing. In the comics he always refers to himself as "we".

But on the upside, the Bruce Campbell appearance was pretty cool.

As I mentioned in your I got hit by a car thread, all I have are fish, and if you want to count it as pets, I have a really awesome ant farm that uses gel instead of dirt. So yeah, I only have nerdy, low matainence pets. Oh, and I use to have a venus fly-trap named Chuck, but sadly, he passed on.

I think frogs are easier to take care of than rats. Personally, I prefer fish. Extremely easy to take care of, and the filter pretty much keeps the tank clean. Of course fish are also quite boring and all you can do is stare at them. I suppose a rat would be much more exciting. Many, many years ago, before I was in high school even, I took care of my friends frog while he went on vacation (the frog's name was Jabba ), the stupid thing escape from the cage twice while under my care. The first time I search my whole room over and couldn't find him. After living the day in constant fear of sitting or stepping on him I picked up my shoe to put it on and found it to be a big heavier than usuall. I tilted it to the side and out jumped Jabba. I still shudder at the thought of what might have happened had I shoved my foot into the shoe without picking it up first...

Ouch! You remind me of my cousin. He has been hit by a car more times than I can remember. And it is always something stupid like somebody leaving a parking lot. One time somebody pulled into the driveway of his house to turn around and they hit him. It was crazy. What type of frog you thinking of getting? Hope the leg gets to feeling better. Did the car knock you over? Or was it just a jolt to the leg?

^Really? Maybe I will go that route then. I noticed they put the sticker directly on the spine of the actuall insert, rather than on the plastic shell. I figured removing it would tear the paper. What is up with the vast majority of GameStop's games having those generic covers instead of the original ones? (Or is that just unique to my area?) Do that many people loose their original boxes? Or perhaps people just mod their systems, make a DVD-R backup, stick it in the original case and sell the original disc to GameStop sans the case...

I was by a GameStop today so I zipped in for a second, man they really do rip you off these days. I remember getting some pretty good deals there back in the day. They blatantly have a brand new shrink wrapped copy of RE 4 for $19.99 and right on the next shelf over a used copy for $17.99. Is it just me, or should a used game be more than two bucks off? Over half of the used games didn't even have the original box art, but rather generic packaging.

The thing they did have going on that might make it worth while was a buy two get one free deal on used games. That would mean three games for $34 bucks, but with a yellow "used" stickers permanently attached to every side and the possibilty of lame generic packaging. BestBuy still seems the best deal.

Thanks Cassidy. Looks like you and I have very similiar taste. Every game I had been somewhat interested in appeared on your list. And I also dislike sports games. I will definately be keeping all those titles in mind. I had completely forgotten about the Metal Gear games.

So, I was looking into God of War a little bit. Being so out of the gamers loop in recent years I had honestly never heard anything about it. I watch a few videos on youtube, and read a bit about it. Wow. It really looks great. Especially the second one. I have always been into Greek mythology, so it would be really interesting to see the developer's take on certain gods.

Now I am starting to think that it is going to be hard for me to limit myself to starting out with only two games...

Video Games - a general discussion thread

Well, as I have said before, I have not owned a console since my high school and college years, which were back in the N64 era. My buddy is going to buy a PS3 (yuck!) in the coming months, and is giving me his PS2. So I was looking at the store the other day at the PS2 games and trying to decide what games to get. I think for starters I will grab two games, once I beat them I will probably pick up a few more.

I am really thinking Resident Evil 4, it just looks awesome and I heard it is fantastic. While skimming through the games I also saw Shadow of Collossus and judging the book by its cover (front and back) it looks very impressive, though I have not read any reviews on it yet. I really wanted to play Half-Life 2, so I was very disappointed when I saw that they skipped a PS2 port and went directly to PS3.

So, any suggestions on some must have PS2 games with good reply value?
