Alright, so is my saying that underage sex is glorified by the media accurate or am I wrong about it?

And with the Buffy thing, I guess I used the wrong words with "casual" and "depict". I suppose depict would be to say it shows it on screen. As lordjedi pointed out most of the couples having sex on the show are commited couples, so casual was the wrong word. But even the sexual relationship with the red haired girl and Seth Green's character was shown in a positive light right? And they were both underage. My mentioning of Buffy was in response to ADM saying,

You all are making some pretty damning accusations here, so you need to be sure of what you're saying.

I would say Buffy is proof that my damning accusations are of something that is far from absent. With what lordjedi said about Dawson's Creek and the CW network, I would hazzard to say I may be more correct than I thought.

Do the Jedi steal children?
Time
I love the faith we have in mankind. And by mankind of course I mean the good guys in a work of science fiction. Must we add a darkside to everything? I don't think that is what Georgie had intended with the training them from a young age thing. There is really no reason to infer any of this based on anything from any of the prequels (holy crap! Did I just defend the PT?). As far as the fanatical religious order goes, if there was a religion that allowed people to shoot lightning from their figures and to be able to nearly fly, I think I would be interested in becoming a fanatic myself. If you had such damning evidence that a religion is without a doubt real, why not dedicate your child to that order. Especially if you were going to have them aborted anyway, or if the parents were poor and knew they couldn't give the child a very decent life. Keven J. Anderson (as cheesy of a writer as he often is) had a much more believeable setup with Luke's Jedi Academy. There they begin in their early teen years, and they get to go home and visit their parents or their parents come to visit them. Very much like a boarding school. Even in that case Luke had to search out force initiate people, because not every one could be a Jedi, and recruit them or talk their parents into sending them there. Which is much more reasonable when it does not mean that they are never going to see them again. The first time I saw episode I and they said Anakin was too old to begin the training I thought it was retarded. Especially since Obi-Wan said to Yoda "Was I much younger when you taught me?" in reference to Luke. So, it seems every famous jedi that become heroes in SW films actually begin training much older. If you are taught in your late teens/early twenties, like Ben or Luke, you come out fine. But if your training begins when you are around nine or so, you're doomed to the dark side... you see, that is why you cannot reconcile the OT with the PT. Just doesn't work. I wish ol George would go the extra mile and remake episodes IV, V and VI with all new actors, special effect, cheesy dialogue and all, and continue the story and just disregard the OT.

The Visual Effects Society Unveils “50 Most Influential Visual Effects Films of All Time”
Time
The thing about effects these days, I really don't see them being influential. Even if they are some pretty impressive effects, there are going to be better ones a few months down the road. I really don't see films like POTC 2 or Peter Jackson's King Kong influencing anything. Back in the day you had pinoneering films, like the old King Kong or Star Wars that blew people away. Today in our world filled with CG fests, I am no longer impressed. I guess we are not given the chance to be impressed any more.

See Zig, it might be better if you didn't say things like that in the first place. You could have just disappeared without saying anything, and then we you pop back up from time to time we would merely say "Oh, Zig's back..." You made a big show about leaving for attentions sake. Well, now you have your attention. You can say you take it back all you want, but honestly, you can never take anything back (as those quotation make painfully obvious). Anyway, for my part, welcome back. Next time you are going to be gone for a while, a simple "I won't be around for a while guys, see you later" would do just fine.

So about that game. You really made that? It is a port of some sort? You do any other work like that? Anyway, thanks for sharing, it looks interesting. So you see Spidey 3 yet? What did you think? I was pretty disappointed with it.

Whoa, you really buy into the whole "the Jedi are evil" thing don't you? What happened the the good ol' black and white good versus evil nature of Star Wars? There was nothing from any of the movies to say the Jedi would be anything like that. Considering the relatively small number of Jedi, and the vastness of the galaxy, I suppose it works out well to assume the majority of parents refuse. I guess this could also be used to explain why the Jedi gene doesn't die out, since there are a vast number of potential force users in the galaxy who have not been trained. Anyway, I still thing the Jedi gene this is a dumb idea, and it is even dumber that the Jedi somehow scan the galaxy for potential force users and send letters or make personal visits to their to convince them their baby would live a "better" life if they were to be donated to their monastic order and never see any of their family again. Stupid.

The human torch is the worst part of the FF movies. I couldn't stand him in the first one at all. I guess he is like that in the comic, but there he really came off as kind of cool, here he comes off as thinking he is cool when he is not. But then again, I was pretty young the last time I read a FF comic, and maybe he only thought he was cool in those too.

Don Imus and the race issue thread.

Didn't you read my post at all? I explained all that quite clearly I thought. Dawson's Creek was a big deal back during the time because it had underage high school students in casual sexual relationships. I have never watched it, but I have no reason not to believe what I have heard, nor have I ever heard anybody defend the show and say that it is not true. Buffy did, without a doubt depict casual underage sex. As I explained, my friend was a fan of the show and I stomached through a few episodes with him, and heard him talk about plenty of others.

However, even for somebody who is a die hard fan of either of those two shows, why is it so unbelievable for them to complain about some of their contents? Do you agree with every bit of content found in any given film or TV show you watch ADM? Why do you have to ask if it is just hersay? I refuse to believe somebody who knows enough about TV to know the WB is defunct, honestly doesn't think that teenage sex is glorified (or at least has been within the past 10 years, like I said before, perhaps they purged teen dramas of this, but I find that hard to believe) by the media. Unless all you watch are after school specials, I don't think there are a lot of shows on TV that actually deglorify underaged sex a whole lot, maybe there are, but I bet it is glorified at least as often if not twice as often. But like I said, I never even turn on the TV, so there is a good chance I am wrong. I am judging this over what I have seen of TV nearly ten years ago.

Is it? How long ago did that happen? I went for a number of years without owning a TV, I have one now on loan from my sister (with a whopping big thirteen inch screen!), but I rarely turn it on. My wife uses it to watch the food network from time to time. So yeah, I am pretty out of the loop. Back when I did have a TV, which was back in the days when the WB was a big thing and ST:Voyager was in its last seasons. It seemed pretty glorified. If they have changed that now and the glorification of underaged sex is now absent, then I would say television has improved a bit since then. My overly outdated examples are Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where you had undersaged high school students going at it quite often and the only consequence that ever came about was Angel turing evil as a result of his night time adventures with Sara Michelle Gellar (one of my friends really liked the show and would tell me about it all the time, I never got into it myself). Dawson's Creek was another show that I remember getting a lot of flak for its depictions of glorified underaged sex. These are just two examples I can think of, I imagine if I was a rampant teen drama watcher I could give countless others, I only know these two because I watched some of Buffy with my friend and listened to him talk about it for countless hours, and the other because it was much talked about for that very reason. Perhaps these shows were the exeption. If these type of shows no longer exist and if every time an underage couple goes at it their lives fall apart (though that is a little bit extreme to the opposite side) then all the better I suppose. For some reason I have a hard time believeing that.

Yeah, I was thinking that when I first read that part. There is no reference in the films whatsoever to Anakin being immaculately concieved. And it wouldn't make sense if there was as SW usually only deals with a fairly black and white morality and never had any mention of sins or children being bore stained with the sins of their fathers. The only mention of his birth at all is when his mom says that there was no father and that she couldn't explain how she got pregnant. Hmm, and if you really think about it, that isn't even to say that he was born of a virgin, since we don't know if his mom was actually a virgin or not, it just means he was concieved asexually...

I am not even such a big fan of the X-Men comics, but I know the characters, they have been around a long time. They way they pissed on so many characters and brought characters, and made Wolverine and Storm the primary characters sucked. They hardly even notice Scott is gone, barely mention "hmm, I wonder where Scott is..." and then he is never even mentioned again. I am surprised he even got a grave at the funeral. I really liked the first two, but I had complained before of Cyclops treatment in two, since he was held captive off screen for the majority of the film. I was really hoping they would give him some decent screen time in the third one. Nope. Much like Spidey III, it felt like they tried to cram too many plot lines into one film, but yet there was no story structured around those plot lines, it felt rushed and thrown together. The first one may very well have been a near perfect comic book movie in my opinion. X-Men fans and non X-Men fans alike enjoyed it. The second one had flaws and many fans hated it, but I still enjoyed it. The third one was awful. Not even only based on the treatment of Cyclops, but as a whole. The editing at the end was pretty bad too.

Sure they are encouraging it. Seen any teen dramas lately? Ever watch the WB? The media glorifies sex and rarely mentions the consequences. By making it so appealing and casual they encourage kids to have sex, which in turn is what causes 15 year old to become pregnant. My not be directly saying to a fifteen year old, "hey go get pregnant", but it is not all that far from it.

Yeah, so when will I be able to walk around robed in a flashy new XØ Project t-shirt? If this thing really is fake as everyone is claiming it is, you guys are really doing it wrong. You see, you are suppose to get some hype going, then play the marketing card hard and heavy. You guys are the worst con men ever!! If I didn't know any better I wold think you really were working on the project and that it really does exist. Fortunately for me, I love a good conspiracy, so I am sticking with the OCPMovie view that this is just a cry for attention and a way to sell t-shirts (though I am loosing my faith in this view, as there are no t-shirts for sell and you guys are too busy with the project to care about attention). Well, good luck with the "project"

Sadly, with the Cyclops thing we didn't spoil the ending for you, we spoiled the very friken beginning of the stupid thing! Yeah, save yourself some money. Pick up a copy from the bargin bin after HD or Blu-ray take over and regular DVDs are sold for a buck. It is probably worth a buck to see, plus you get the added value of being entertained as you run the disc and the insert through the shredder. And in the end you have a nice double disc DVD case to to with as you will. So yeah, definitly worth a $1.

Lol. What the hell did you think it was? I like the demonic red eyes, it sums up exactly how I feel about the ugly little bastards. Always staring, never blinking... shudder. Has anyone ever used this thing before me? I used to lurk here long before I registered, and I can't recall ever seeing it in use before.

Hmm, this could be the solution to fanediting a serious ROTJ. What if all the ewoks eyes were retroscoped to glow red while they are in battle? One minute: "Oh, what a cute little teddy bear"... and the next minute its eyes glow red and it shoot flames from its mouth! Instead of stormtroopers getting killed by little migit children inside gutted stuffed animals throwing rocks, we'll have these little demonic creatures running around throwing magical glowing orbs at the stormtroopers and burping flames at AT-STs. Whoa! With a little work, ROTJ could become a rival for ESB as the second best SW movie ever!!!! (That is of course after we figure out how to turn Jabba's palace into a massive disco joint, which would be sooooo much cooler than the Jazz club it is now. I mean, what kind of gangster owns a Jazz club??? It needs to be a disco or a techno, or a fancy high class resturant, never a jazz club... )

Yeah, that argument is just an easy way to cop out. Back during my years working in construction I have known illegal immigrants to have given lower bids on certian jobs than ligitimate citizens and as a result gotten the job. This is a perfect example of illegals getting jobs that would have otherwise gone to ligitmate citizens or even legal immigrants. There may be some pretty low jobs, but there are people for them someplace. Even if there aren't people that will do them other than illegal immigrants, do we really want something illegal to be the easy answer to the problem? If there are jobs that are so unpleasant nobody wants to do them, perhaps those jobs shouldn't exist. Also what makes it so certian that they wont reallize their pithy, unpleasant little job sucks a lot more than it has to and move on to become a painter with the ability to give lower bids on jobs than somebody who has a lot more expenses to worry about.

That whole nobody else wants the jobs they take is a bunch of bull, and just another way of saying, "Hey, its not my problem and I am not going to let it be my problem."

One thing that might help would be if we had more "sweat shops" where they could work in Mexico and earn a decent living ligitimately. A lot of people gasp at the word "sweat shop" yet we say we need them to move to America in order that they can do our unpleasant jobs that we think we are too good for. It would also be a good way to help out our neighbor's economy while slowing down the vast quantities of money we are throwing into the Chinese economy.

I really have no hope for Wolverine. After the last X-Men movie there is no reason to have any hope. They really bunged that thing up. X2 wasn't so bad, but by killing everybody off in X3 they really ruined it. Cyclops was treated terribly unfairly. You don't take a character that has so many years of history behind him and run him threw the mud like that. He should have stepped up in the third film, not been kicked back further then pissed on and killed. Same thing for Jean/Phenix. That is a great story line, too bad they threw it all away. After Hulk, I have no hope for the sequel, I can't even believe I sat through that retarded movie in the first, why would I subject myself to its sequel. Any Daredevil sequel I have no hope for. Ironman, given the track record I really have no hope for it either. I fail to see how DC is bringing out their A game. Batman Begins was amazingly good. Superman Returns... IMHO it made Daredevil look like award winning material. Really all I see is one good recent film with the DC name attached to it, marvel only fairs worse because there are so many films with the marvel name attached and most have sucked. I really have no hope for a Superman sequel, they already destroyed that story. The next Batman is the only upcomming comic movie I have much faith in.
