Yeah, the password system is kind of a pain. I guess the map thing doesn't get to me because I remember it so well, but I do remember that Nintendo Power map being a must at one point. Now a days there are a number simple easy to use maps availible online. And I guess the password system is kind of annoying, but it really never bothered me, the Mega Man games were the same way. The two Zelda games with the ability to save were not the norm back then. In fact, I am having a hard time remembering too many other NES games that had the ability to save. My only real complaint about the original Metroid is the fact that you can't duck and shoot, those guys that are just under your line of fire get really annoying. Other than that to me it is nearly a perfect game. It is kind a hard at the very start when you have only 30% energy, but if you just take some time to focus on getting it up to 100%, which only takes a minute or so, it really isn't too bad. Then once you get a second Energy pack with an extra 100% energy it really take a lot to kill you, and it only gets easier from there as you gain more and more energy packs. I haven't played that game for a while, and on Saturday I made it all the way to Mother Brain without dying once, then it took me a few trys to beat her. I was surprised at how easy Kraid and Ridley were, I remembered them being a lot harder. Next Saturday I think I'll crack out The Legend of Zelda and give it a couple of hours of my time.

Anyone else ever use SNES Station for their PS2? I love it! I sold my SNES long ago and regreted it ever since, but I still have a number of my old games for it. The PS2 controller is so similar to the SNES controller, and SNES station does such a great job emulating them, it almost feels just like playing them on a real SNES. A few of the games that pushed the SNES hardware to the limits like Star Fox and Super Mario RPG don't run worth anything on it, but things like Chrono Trigger, A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, and Super Mario World as well as the vast majority of other games play pretty much flawlessly on it.

Hmm, I got the chance to play Metroid Fusion for a bit, and while I liked the overall feel of how the game played, I didn't like all the text boxes poping up all the time. I am used to Metroid being a fast paced action game with the only narrative being confined to the instruction manual, or as with Super Metroid only at the beginning and end of the game. It feels kind of annoying playing that kind of game and having to stop and read all the time. Samus' sprite didn't quite look right either, usually she is very tall and slinder, in fusion she seemed kind of hunched over and boxy. More brute like.

Ian McDiarmid's performance in the PT (also the OT) is memorable and absolutely enthralling
Time
Yeah, I might have agreed with McDiarmid's preformance being good as far as TPM goes, and even a good degree in AOTC, but from start to finish I thought he was one of the absolute worst parts of ROTS. Straight from the boot he was way over the top, I was cringing all throught the mock throne room scene the first time I saw it. That scene had so much potential, but then again by that point between the imaginative buzz droids and the CG clone pilots and Oddball, the movie had already blantantly admited that it wasn't going to try too hard to impress.

Just for fun, here is how I would rate them,

McDiarmid (Palpatine) B
McDiarmid (The Emperor) F- (and that is only because I can't give him anything lower than an F. And yes, I know there is no such thing as an F minus)
McGregor B- (Excellent from start to finish in TPM, wasn't as great in AOTC or ROTS, way too any dumb lines which isn't his fault, but he had moments. Felt kind of like he had given up on the series and was just fullfilling his contract. He was the only good thing about the end of ROTS though, that is one moment when he really shines.)
Christopher Lee A (Still proving himself to be the perfect villian. Man, what I wouldn't give to see him play in a good SW movie, it would be a dream.
Liam Neeson A (The poor guy carried a good deal of TMP by himself, I would hate to see what the movie would be like without him. Plus the poor guy had to put up with having the most interaction with Jar Jar, the worlds first 100% CG character. The fact that he, being a serious actor, had to humiliate himself so much to do this film should be enough to earn him an A right there.)
Pernilia August C- (Good in TPM, horrible in AOTC, but then again she wasn't given much to work with)
Hayden Christenson D-
Natalie Portman F (just because she has proven elsewhere that she can do better)
Jake Lloyd --- E for effort.

I hate when people anachronistically match things to current events. Just like those idiots who said that 300, a ten year old graphic novel was clearly pro-war, pro-Bush propaganda. It is a two way street. V for Vendetta is a graphic novel from 1982 (and not even a graphic novel from America, and thus has very little to do with the US gov. then or now. It is more of a typical dystopian story, only with a comic book character fighting back via terrorism/anarchy. It is a pretty timeless idea). I imagine if 1984 were made into a film today hoards of people would say that it has to do with Bush being Big Brother. That is a bunch of crap. People really read too much into everything.

Does the PT work as a fun & fluff comic book production?

Isn't the whole question of whether or not the PT would make a good comic series kind of a pointless one considering that there are multiple comic adaptions of them? All it would take to answer the question is a quick trip to the local comic shop or favorite online retailer.

Ah, I didn't really feel any strong need at all, and I know you were not directly addressing me. My post was mostly just for fun. I'll be the first to admit I am a bit nerdy, after all, I spent most the day last Saturday watching The Angry Nintendo Nerd and playing Metroid and Zelda on my old NES. I proudly admit to be a nerd, but in all honesty, I never really saw the broom stick dueling as all that nerdy, but now that I think of it, I guess it was a bit. Fortunately for us, it still got us some dates... or... maybe, fortunately for us we still got dates inspite of it? Hmm...

Typical Star Wars fanboy fanboy bitching...

Seriously, some of these kooks just can't stay away from us, the attraction is just that strong. I am not quite sure what the definition of fanboy is anymore, I don't think we fit that description though, but whatever we may be called, it is kind of weird to think that we have our own loyal fanbase that complains about us because they feel we are not going in the right direction. For those of you who are doubting or think that I am just joking, what other explaination is there for someone to go through the trouble of registering for these forums, making 78 posts and remembering your password for two years.

Whoa whoa whoa! Before you go thinking I am a super nerd because my buddy and I would choreograph lightsaber fights, I feel like I ought to clearify that that was inbetween playing painball and shooting cans with our .22s, which were much more common ways for us to spend out time. Also I must say that the whole broom stick/lightsaber fights sure didn't hurt us as far as girls went, in fact our biggest motive in our choreographed fights was to impress girls (and believe it or not, it turned out to be a pretty good tactic). Of course we never told them they were choreographed, nor that they were suppose to be lightsabers, but we did turn a lot of heads when we would break out into a violent fast paced fight with metal sticks.

I don't think he is harsh on Howard the Duck at all, for one it is not an original work by him, it was based off a comic book. Also, I believe there was a Howard cameo during the podrace scene in The Phantom Menace, more evidence that he has nothing against it. I am not sure why it is not on DVD though. Probably has to do with it sucking, but then again that didn't keep Attack of the Clones from getting a DVD release, so I don't know.

Hmm, I am guessing the whole Masters and Knights and trials changes took place sometime around the year 1999, am I right? My friend and I use to choreograph fights with metal broom sticks. Getting hit in the fingers by accident was incredibly painful. But it looked really cool we we could go at it full force. We broke a lot of broom sticks though.

I was going to point that out. I mean, how many of you Yanky boys actually knew what Guy Fawkes was before that film came out? None I bet.
No doubt it'll be turned into something completely different now, be celebrated on a different day and will have nothing to do with Guy Fawkes.

I'm a Yanky boy and I have known what Guy Fawkes was long before I ever heard of V for Vendetta. You are correct though, most Americans had no freaking idea what it was before that movie, they may have heard of it, but doubtful they knew when it was or what it was about. So now that that movie is out, which popularized a 20 year old character who wears a mask resembeling the face of the 400 year old historical figure for Amarican audiences, it is funny to see that the Americans are the ones to point out the 5th of November.

Do you believe in aliens?
Time
Alien doesn't mean illegal. There are such things as legal aliens, and they are a good thing. It is illegal aliens that are a problem, some people seem to have a hard time distinguishing between the two. Sean is not the first one I have seen do this. That is why you have stupid people say stupid things like people who are against illegal aliens are racists or prejudice.

Besides, HotRod isn't from our side of the pond Sean, so even if his step mother was illegal, USCIS would really care much, if fact judging from my dealings with them they would probably just be pissed off and annoyed at you.

While I doubt it's the Holiday Special, it's not hard to get a hold of at all. Exhibitors at Sci-Fi and comic book conventions tend to have it readily available. It's also available on just about every p2p network around. The Holiday Special, for all its evilness, is the easiest thing to get a hold of these days.

If it were 10 years ago when Google didn't exist, there was no bittorrent or other main stream p2p software and the web was still in its infancy, I'd agree with you. But that's not the case anymore.

I said that it is only available in low quality and only exists as bootlegs. I guess I was wrong about it not being the easiest thing to get, but they could still never get the permission to do it.

Wow! The two hour "Sci-Fi Channel Original Movie" Battlestar Galactica: Razor that is suppose to air at the end of the month got leaked. I tried searching for any official news on it, but as far as I can see there is nothing. It is amazing something like this could leak nearly a month early. Kind of sad too.

That really sucks. Stupid MMOs. If I wanted to interact with other people, I would go out and interact with people the old fasion way.

lord jedi, how did they ruin Galaxies? Wasn't that always intended to be a MMO?

Yep and it was a good one until the NGE when they made Jedi a class you could pick. Galaxies is suppose to take place during the Galactic Civil War, when any Jedi that might exist are few and far between. Originally, the Jedi class was something that was totally random and had to be happened upon (usually through playing a long time and building a skill tree big enough). Now, there's just clans of Jedi running around, slaughtering anyone they feel like because they can. I've heard stories of groups of them running through Tattooine and just destroying the Stormtrooper outposts because they can (they're Jedi, so they're pretty much unstoppable in a group).

Jedi are suppose to be hard to play (you need to hide from the Empire) and few and far between. The old RPG got it right, but Sony and LucasArts screwed the pooch when they made it a class you could pick at the start. That, and from one of those links I followed, it seems that a lot of players had their characters taken away when the NGE was implemented. It's no wonder so many people left it and went to WoW.

Ah, now I understand what you mean. That stinks. The Star Wars universe has a lot of fasinating things beyond the Jedi, in fact I don't find the jedi that interesting, especially since 1999. I was pretty disappointed when they switched Dark Forces 2 to a Jedi game from the original mercenary for hire theme it had in the first game. I can imagine people feeling much the same way about this. Stupid jedi, they ruin everything!

I also think paying for a subscription to a video game is kind of dumb, especially since I have to pay for the software to start with. It would make more sense if you subscribed to the game and they sent you the software. Why should I have to buy a license to run the program, then a subscription to be able to use it?

As far as guitar hero goes, I have never played it, but I use to always see people demoing it at Wal-Mart, strumming on the fake guitar acting like it was a real one and looking like idiots. I am sure it is a great game, but I just don't see it being that much fun.
