Are you bad mouthing the real Battlestar Galactica???

Galactica 1980 wasn't a remake, it was a desperate and failed attempt to continue the series (or perhaps a "sequel series" might be a good way to put it) on a very low budget. It really was an awful show. I am surprised to hear it even made a DVD release. I guess they decided it would be worth it if they could catch enough unsuspecting people who didn't know what the show was but who were willing to dish out money for anything with the "Galactica" name on it.

Yeah, I know. After all this wait I keep feeling like eight episodes isn't even worth it. I was already disappointed the season was cut down to sixteen episodes. When they first announced that there were only 48 more episodes, I thought "Perfect, just two more seasons of 24 eps each, that seems about right" then I read that the 48 remaining eps would be spread over three seasons of sixteen eps each, and I was kind of disapointed, and now the already meager sixteen episodes has been cut down to just eight.

You use PGen and SNEStation? I use SNEStation on my PS2, I love it. I have a slim PS2 and I use Swap Magic to boot SNEStation. Only a few SNES games it can't handle, most of them play perfectly.

With this independance exploit, are you able to play DVD-Rs and imports? Or only small homebrew apps like PGen and SNEStation? Also what model of PS2s does it work on. Only the old 1st gen bulky ones right? Swap Magic is really worth dishing out twenty bucks for, you don't have to worry about hurting your system and it is not that much of a pain to use. It is nice being able to keep my SNES and all my games packed away and yet still be able to play all my old games. Saves room under the TV.

I think it is more capitalism than it is an alti-verse.

As for Cameron/Scott partnership erasing Aliens 3 and 4, please elaborate on this more ADM. I have not heard anything about it.

I kind of like Alien 3 now, but that is after having years of it growing on me. When I first saw it I was very disappointed at the treatment of these characters that we had invested so much interest in during Aliens only to have them die off screen in the credit sequence of Alien 3. Cheap cop out. But in the end I thought the prison was not a half bad setting for an alien rampage. Alien Resurrection on the other had is one big WTF experience. How that movie ever got green lit is beyond me.

LOL!! Well when I first read your post I thought you were addressing Sweeney and Sean and identifying with them and telling them that you don't like coming around here because of people like us. Then I realized that I might have grossly misunderstood and that is why I added the last sentence of my post. Sorry about that. My first post in this thread was not really for Sweeney's benefit, I really don't care what he thinks. I just felt the need to speak up in defense of my country.

Huh, that is really funny. Guys like Sweeney who go around trying to provoke people are considered reasonable posters, but guys who talk politics, have open minds and try to fight ignorance and are interested in America being the best country it can be are damn idiotic pests? Sorry Xhonzi, I meant to respond to this comment earlier, but didn't have time when I first read it, then I forgot about it. I would compare Darth Vader as he is seen in the original Star Wars to Vlad the Impailer, but choosing from your list I would go with Genghis Kahn. Evner Hoxha is a lot more like the original concept of the Emperor.

It feels really good to hear somebody say that. Wish more people could realize it. Also it feels like Bush has become the one-size-fits-all scape goat. People really need to look at the last several years more objectively rather than buying into all this "Bush is the problem, once he is out of the office life will be great" nonsense. Bush is not the only one to blame, I guess it is just easier that way though.

And as for you not knowing about that one so much, I am sure you wouldn't. But it is one I have seen first hand in numerous occasions. It is one I have heard many non-Americans say about America, and I think it stands very true. I have no idea where you are from, or what places you have been to. But I will assume you live in the country you were born in. Maybe you have gone to other places on vacation, but if you try to live in another country you will see how hard it is. You can learn the language and make friends, but if you live there long enough you will figure out that you can never really belong. You will always be what you are. You will always be to some extent a fish out of water. You can go to a lot of countries in the world where no matter how long you stay there, the people will always identify you as "the foreigner". America being the melting pot it is, you can come here and be what you are, maybe some idiots will identify you as foreign and make fun of your culture, but for the most part you will be around people who were immigrants themselves not more than a couple of generations back. You'll be around people who are used to living around and working with people from other countries and cultures. I have had a ton of people tell me they love America because they felt welcome right after moving here, something they have never felt while living in any other country. When in Rome do as the Romans do; when in America be as you like.

Hmm, I don't remember that, but I guess it was to throw us off. The whispers come about in a lot of places where we know that no others are around. Like the times Walt appeared Shanon as well as many other manifestations of smokey. Usually the whispers are backwards recordings or distorted in other ways. You can find sites on the internet where you can download sound clips of all the whispers and where people have listened to them at different speeds and by reversing them and they claim to be able to make out what is being said. They even have trascriptions for the whispers. I have listened to some but I can't make out a word, I think the people who transcribe them are hearing voices in their own heads. But regardless, if you look at the places where the whispers appear, there is a lot more too them than hiding others.

NO!!!

It was sad BSG was so short lives, it really was a great show. To this day it is still one of my favorites. But Galactica 1980 was a very poorly and cheaply done attempt to continue the show after the fact. It just wasn't the same show. There is really nothing good in it. The last episode is really the only part worth watching, and I think there have been several fan edits of that in attempts to make it a regular BSG episode. Never seen any of these attempts myself, so I can't say anything about their quality. IMHO BSG had a good ending and doesn't need anything to come after it to close the series up.

Yes, God bless the USA. Because here we're free to post crap like this with out a worry. Because here even if you are dirt poor the means to a good education is still availible to you. Because here is the only country in the world that makes anyone from any where else feel like they belong. America is awesome. There is a reason why you can go just about anywhere in the world and American culture will follow you. From Disneyland in Paris to Coca-Cola in Hong Kong, as annoying as it is America is everywhere. People around the world can complain about the American cultural invasion as much as they want, but all they have to do is stop buying our products to make it stop. But they won't. And why not? Because they like them.

Ironic that is it the American ultra liberal who is the most anti-American. Sweeney is obviously American because all his pictures have to do with typical American anti-Americanism and not foreign anti-Americanism. What exactly has the national rifle association done to you sweeney? Why is it so wrong for me to have weapons to protect my family with? Or for me to use to hunt food with? Is it bad just because Michael Moore says it is? Is it so bad just because a very small number out of a very vast number use them for bad? Do you honestly thing violent crime would end if the NRA wasn't around and if firearms were banned from the USA? What do you ban next? Kitchen knives? All sharp objects longer than three inches in length? What kind of world do you want to live in sweeney? Why don't you take a look at the good America does sweeney instead of only focusing on the things you find negative? You don't deserve to live in such a country. Why don't you get the hell out. Do us a lot more good than the banning of firearms. Let's ban self rightous bigot ultra liberal anti-Americans. Why don't you move to Iraq or Iran? I think you will find them right up your alley. Or maybe China, I bet you would feel right at home there. Kenya is a nice place too. Or how about England, Germany or France? I don't think he is crazy, I certainly don't think it is a government conspiracy, but I am not going to call him crazy just because he believes that that is one possibility. Even if you do think he is nuts there is no reason to express it so explicitly. Sometimes silence is the best answer.

Nobody would really want to see a direct word for word adaption. When you make a film based on a book that large, you obviously have to cut out a lot of details. But a lot of the changes in the LOTR movies goes way beyond removing bits here and there.

Of course. A year is a long time to remember every detail. But it is sad to sacrifice something because you don't think people will remember. Ultimately the movies will most commonly be watched like a single really long movie over the span of a few days. I don't know too many people who pick of TT, watch it and call it good. They are meant to be watched together. It is three movies based on a single book after all. Lj is not contradicting himself in saying that it is stupid to for the director to dumb things down because people wont remember what happened last time. He was saying that people are not so dumb they need their movies filmed with their ignorance in mind. People can remember, and if not they'll be smart enough to rent the movie before going to see the second part. Make a film as intelligent as you can, and if some people can't cope with it tough. The new Bourne movie, I forget the name of it, but I went to see it with my wife. I had seen the second one a long time ago, but man was I lost. I had no idea what the hell was going on it that movie because I could not remember the first two (not to mention I kept falling asleep). So, should the director have dumbed it down and loaded it full of rehash? Definately not! It was nobodies fault but my own that I had no idea what was going on. Should've rented the other two before going to see this (only I could not bear the thought of having to sit through them both for a second time).
