Time
It is sometime in December 2004, do we know the exact day? It will likely remain 2004 for the remainder of the season, I imagine he dies on island, and if the layout of the remaining seasons is as Lindleoff has said, then he will die sometime this season.

They have only been on the island since the end of September, so even Analucia, Libby, Echo, Niki and Palo have died just a matter of weeks ago. Charlie has only been dead a few days and he kicked the bucket the end of last season. In other words, yeah, Jin is going to die in just a few days. I'd give him a week at the most, but to us it will either next week, or sometime in April, May, or June.

This episode didn't suck as much as last weeks, but I felt like they went WAY out of their way to trick us again. Sure glad this didn't end of being "the mini-finale" that would have sucked and ended this run on a very low point. Next week's episode should be good, it will also be the last episode untul the end of April.

I don't think Jin is still alive, I think this will be his last season. I have feared for Jin's life every since the actor got that DUI. DUIs for actors are typically the end their character when it comes to Lost. I really thought Jin would make it off island and die sometime in the flashforward. I was surprised.

Huh, that is very interesting. Yeah, I think it would be cool if you posted your comments as you go along. One thing though, if you have never seen a whole episode of Star Trek before, I wouldn't recommend going nuts and diving in head first and unloading a wad of cash to buy everything. Sounds like some of your friends are ST fans, can they loan you any of the stuff? I grew up with Star Trek and I have always really liked it, but I will be the first to admit a good deal of it is pure cheese.

Every season has its good episodes as well as more than its fair share of crap. Also TOS and even TNG to a degree, are pretty dated and can get really ridiculous. It would be ashame for you to toss your hard earned cash away on something that you might not like. Having grown up with it I have a pretty good tolerance for the cheesiness that much of ST is, but I can imagine a new comer finding a lot of it painfully lame. Every episode is kind of hit or miss, same thing for the movies. The movies I like I really like, and the ones I hate I really hate. The Wrath of Kahn is one of my favorite Sci-fi movies of all time, while sitting through ST: The Motion Picture has been the way I always imagined hell.

Anyway, good luck on your quest to watch all ST. I will be looking forward to hearing your impressions of the franchise.

They introduce the Ferangi, while they were not suppose to meet up with them until TNG. They introduced the Borg, while they were not suppose to have done so until TNG. They kind of "played it safe" with the Romulans by not letting anyone see their faces or know that they were Romulans or something along those lines, in order not to wreck continuity with TOS where they mention that Romulans had not been heard of for a long time.

Haha, lj is a troll!!! I hereby declare this Forum Wide Troll Day! From this day forth March 14th will be a holiday! Every March 14 we will remember the day that four regular and mostly useful forum members have been called trolls. And the day isn't even over yet, there could be more toll calling to come.

Our newly discovered trolls thus far are Moth3r, Erikstromtrooper, Adywan, and now Lord Jedi. I personally am hoping more of us will be exposed as trolls before the end of the day, just to make our new holiday even more worthwhile.

Well Erik, since I can see you at least seem to have repented and given Anti-Matter credit where it was due to him for his rescuing of the internet, and considering that Moth3r is in jail for child neglect (see off topic forum for details), Adyway is the only one I am still disappoint in, so I think I will stick around after all. But mark my words, if more incidents like post #88 and beyond ever happen again, I WILL threaten to leave again.

Moth3r, Erikstormtrooper, and Adywan, you are all trolls, appearently. You are also lemmings who have contributed nothing, ZERO, ZILCH!

All three of you have engaged in a blantant display of unsolicited trashing and you all disgust me!

Can you believe a mod would say something so cruel and unsolicited as:

[Personally I think it's bad etiquette to remove the first post from a thread with eighty-something replies.

What does "make better use of available web resources" mean exactly?

And Erik, you ought to be ashamed of yourself, I always felt you were a valuable member of this community but I will be fooled no longer after reading where you unsolcititedly and lemmingishly said:
Erikstormtrooper said:

Yeah, and some hint as to where this is being moved TO would be nice.

And Adywan, as of late you have been a bit of a forum celebrity, but I daresay you have destroyed your reputation when you got so bold as to say such things as:
adywan said:

So what does "This project is being moved to make better use of available web resources" mean then? I really can't see why you would want to move this project from here. Without the guys here i wouldn't have been able to accomplish half of what i did with "Revisited". Maybe a better explanation would be nice, especially when so many here have already had an input into this project since you opened this thread.

So, PM me as to where you are off to Anti-Matter, I can't stand to be around this bunch of lemmings anylonger. Those unsoliciters with their homerisms, juvenile mob mentality, and their presumptuousness can all go to hell for all I care! I hereby leave OT.com forever.

Nemesis was a huge let down to me. I'll watch it from time to time, there are some things I like about it, but it did disapoint.

Insurrection is often complained about, but I liked it. It essentially felt like an extended, cinematically filmed episode of TNG. It didn't go all out with tons of huge space battles, the Enterprise didn't crash or almost get assimilated by Borg. It was almost an "Elevator Episode" of Trek films, I think that is why it was kind of a let down to people, they wanted something epic like time travel and big space battles, and instead they get a pretty small stakes story about the fate of a small community.

As for ST continuity, I agree with most of what FF said about it. They change things at their convenience as the story goes on to make things work better. Fair enough. One of the things I really hated about the series Enterprise was when they would try to explain plot wholes throughout the series. For example we have the augmented Klingons loosing their head ruffles to explain why they did not have ruffled heads in TOS. A much easier explaination is a limitation on makeup back when TOS was filmed and a decesion to make the Klingons look more interesting in ST:TMP. We don't need to know why Klingons have pink blood in STVI, but red blood everywhere else, in the real world we know it was done to make the film less violent. Any series than spans the period of time ST has and has as much material as ST has, writen by various writers I might add, is bound to have holes. It is better for the story to continue and pretend there are no holes than to try to go back and cover them up, especially if the holes originate from a forty year old TV show.

As such those both worlds should not be ever compared.

:( Work with me on this one.

Next I shall make a comparison between Wookies and Klingons... COMING SOON!

Why shouldn't the two ever be compared? From a storytelling standpoint the two are incredibly comparable, and nobody is going to grow hair on their palms for doing so, oddly on the internet the thought of comparing the two has almost become that taboo.

I would have never in my wildest dreams thought of making any ST vs. SW comparisions in this thread until Johnboy CAPSED OUT the importance of not doing so, then it became far too tempting.

I think it is silly to compare fictional science (which fictional universe has the faster ships, could the MF beat the Enterprise in a race), but comparing social aspects of the universe can be quite interesting. You can really see the different direction Roddenbury and Lucas were coming from, two similar universes, but two very different takes on them. The varying world views and social ideas of the two men is very facinating.

Back on topic, The Millenium Falcon is the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. That means it is faster than Star Trek's ships. How fast exactly, we have no idea, but it is described as superlatively fast. So I would say your debate is solved, SW's speed system is faster.

SWEET! A Star Trek VS. Star Wars thread!

Hmm, where do we start? I suppose I better start by taking the ST is better stance, since this is a Star Wars website ST is bound to be under represented.

Star Trek is cool because it represents a functioning Utopian society where everyone works their butts off to improve mankind and so on. It is even cooler that all these people whether they are high ranking crew members of a Starship or the looser who cleans the sonic toilets, they are all getting paid nothing and yet they are still incredible proud of their careers. How many times in Star Trek has somebody told one of the Captians, "Capt., if you do this then you can kiss your precious career at Star Fleet goodbye."? A variation of that line could almost be found at least once in every season of each of the various ST series. You have got to love that kind of dedication these guys have! You have also got to love how lax Star Fleet is on their regulations. How many times can a Star Fleet officer say, "to hell with their orders" and get away with it? I think if we are ever to find the answer to that we are going to need a ST series to last a LOT longer than just eight years.

These things make ST great. Star Wars is too realistic. An Imperial Officer messes up just once he gets Force strangled to death. No Imperial Officer has EVER said anything along the lines of "to hell with their orders", he is to worried about carrying out every single order to 100% perfection to avoid sudden death to be considering the possibility of thinking about maybe even letting the idea of insurrection or even "skipping a step" of any given order cross his mind.

In Star Trek if you don't want to die, all you have to do is avoid wearing red (And I am not just talking about lousy awayteam members. Does anybody remember what color Spock was wearing when he died? Yup, red). In Star Wars the potential for death awaits you regardless of clothing color. Obi-Wan wore brown, Biggs wore orange, Vader wore black, Yoda wore a sort of off white potato sack, and the Emporer was wearing grayish blue, and they are all dead.

In ST a collective society is unrealistically considered a fantastic thing and a product of evolution, in SW a similar society is considered something worth dying to rebel against.

In ST you can make any number of different aliens by gluing on fake years, antea, pig noses, or monkey ears, everyone looks very much like humans, only different. In Star Wars there are all sorts of creepy looking aliens of all different shapes and sizes, one even looks like an impressive cross between a sock puppet and a chicken. Surely if there were real aliens somewhere in the universe there is bound to be a species that would appear to human eyes to be a cross between a sock puppet and a chicken. The amazing thing is some EU writer actually wrote a love story between the sock puppet chicken alien and the werewolf. As I read this story I was standing beside myself in awe that such tripe would every be published, but to be perfectly honest, I could imagine if there really were erewolf aliens, they might find sock puppet chickens to be very attractive. Realistic or not, I stopped reading all EU after this.

So, my conslusion is that SW is way too realistic. While Star Trek may aim for realism on scientific things, Star Was wins realism for everything else. The peaceful hidden slaughterhouse that is the politics of ST and much more settling and enjoyable to watch than the terrible and brutal reality of SW's Galactic Empire that pratices enthic cleansing, conscription (pre-PT anyway), and brutal means of meeting their desired ends. Sometimes the truth is not what we want to hear. So excuse me as I go stick my head in the sand and watch me some Star Trek.

You know, when a season is 23 episodes long, a crappy episode every now and then is to be expected. But when you only have 13 episodes in a season, you don't want to screw around with a bunch of crappy episodes, and that is exactly what we are doing this season with Lost. I am still trying to decide which episode was worse, this one or last weeks. Last week a lot of nonsensical nonsense took place, this week absolutely nothing took place. So the question is, which is more preferable, a retarded nonsense episode last weeks, or an pointless episode where nothing happens, like this weeks? Either way, they are just pointless filler, and you know something is wrong with a show when over half the episodes are pointless filler episodes.

LOL, I seem to remember more said about post quantity and ranks from you than anyone else.

I have never seen the post count as a means of competition, or a means of member value. And I have not heard anyone talking about rank so much for a long time other than an occasional conversation by old Jedi Spirits or people who are near becoming Spirits. in other words, none of the newer members even really care.

But... but... but... but... but it's Mario! How can anyone not like Mario? He is more known around the world than Mickey freakin Mouse! Everybody loves Mario...

I honestly think they should make a Nintendoland to compete with Disneyland. Maybe even a Nintendoworld. I know I'd take my kids. They could have a show with people dressed up like Nintendo characters (in those costumes from the original Super Smash Bros. TV ad), fighting and trying to knock one another out of the ring. They could also have a cool Donkey Kong mineshaft ride. An "Its a Small World After All" rip off with mushroom people. They could make a Pokemon sufari sort of thing for little kids where you go on a tour through a land filled with anamatronic Pokemon. A pirates of the Caribean rip off feature Kaptian K. Rool and his pirates from Donkey Kong Country 2. A Metroid themed Space Mountian rip off. A few Zelda themed rides, etc. They have a lot of material to work with. Of course it could never work, Disney reaches a lot wider of an audience than Nintendo does, every kid who watches cartoons sees a few things Disney, but not every kid who plays video games is exposed to Nintendo trademark characters.

Yeah, I had the exact same problem with my avatar, I was using CS2 in Windows.

Finally I gave up and did a quick google search and came across this,

http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

it will shrink them for you online, then you just right click and save the new file to your computer. Worked great for me. On step two click custom and enter "120" if you want it to come out 80x80. On step four I choose "good" quality and it came out under the 5kb limit.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Thread

Yeah, sorry but you have to wait a whole year. That is if they pick it up for a second season...

The writer's strike over here in American really screwed up TV for the year. A lot of shows were cancelled prematurely. Originally The Sarah Connor Chronicles was suppose to have 24 episodes I think, and it was going to run back to back with the TV show 24, but somewhere in there it was changed to just 13 eipsodes, and due to the writers strike only 9 were finished.
