MST3K
Time
I still find it funny that the MST3K movie is shorter than a regular episode of the show. I like the movie This Island Earth, it is the kind of silly movie that is fun to watch even without the riffs. Glad to hear it is coming back into print, I suppose Cinenmatic Titanic and Rifftraks are kind of bringing back the popularity of the franchise.

So, anyone out there who has seen episodes rifftraks and cinematic titanic? I have seen several rifftrak films, and I really like them. I was curious how Cinematic Titanic holds up in comparison. If one has notably better quality than the other, or if they are both equally enjoyable.

Lucas to sue Star Wars designer
Time
It is relevant because of the fact that everytime there is a demand that is not being met with a legitimate supply, an illegitimate one is sure to surface in order to fill that demand. Just the way things realistically work. Sure they can sue and put people out of business, but until they make a legitimate and satisfactory replacement for the products being bootlegged, another illegitimate source is going to pop up sooner or later.

Or they will get to Earth and it will turn out that everyone from the colonies have all been Earth or Kobol manufactured robots with reproductive capabilities all along. Everyone except for Roslin that is, it will be revealed that she has been some strange evil alien entity bent on world domination from the very start.

R.I.P. Charlton Heston
Time
His autobiography, "In the Arena", is most certianly worth giving a read. It gives some very facinating insight into the movie industry of the time. A used copy can be picked up for next to nothing. I got a hardcover copy in perfect condition for $0.99 + shipping from amazon a while back.

Among my favorite movies of his are Planet of the Apes (of course), Soylent Green, and The Omega Man.

The later two are certianly not fantastic works of art, but they are really fun to watch, and Heston did a great job in those kinds of roles.

Lamest of all time? I dunno man, but making comments like that I'd have to guess that you have not read too many comic books. There are some pretty lame heros, out there. I have always liked the characters of Matt Murdock and Daredevil.

Just to defend DD's honor and prove that there are worse heroes out there, let us take a look at,

The Legion of Super-Pets

Arm-fall-off-boy

The other boy wonder, Aqualad, is also incredibly lame. She-Hulk is kind of dumb too. I am only skimming the surface of lame heroes here, it gets so much worse than this.

Yup, a reboot of a movie franchise that is just a few years old... now for their next trick I would like to see a reboot of Daredevil with a lot more care put into it, this time around good actors, a good director, some good writers, and a few good story ideas would be greatly appreciated, and most of all no Colin Ferrel as an over the top Bullseye...

legacy of the force - book
Time
I like how SW novels have been reduced (or perhaps risen?) to a competition of which writer can manage the more shocking death of a main character. Starting to sound like comic books. Next thing you know Luke will reveal his secret identity on national TV, while Mon Monthma and Ackbar argue as to whether or not they should be required to register with the government on account of their superhuman powers ending with Ackbar's assassination and... eerrr, oh never mind.

R.I.P. Mara Skywalker.

Kara is probably an Earthling double of herself, sent out on one of Earth's brand new Vipers and got her self lost, once she got close to the Galactica the memories of her alternative life kicked in and she forgot all about her life as an Earthling.

This episode was alright. I am expecting and hoping that this season will be a little better than season three. S3 started off promising enough, then it caved in on itself. By the end of it I was so sick of hearing endless discussion about the "final five" I just wanted to click the TV off every time it was mentioned. Since there are only what, 19? episodes left of the series, I am hoping they will make the majority of them count. The season premier was nothing spectacular, but it did not disappoint, it was entertaining and I enjoyed watching it, which is all I hope to get out of a TV show. I don't need huge twists and tons of action, just don't bore me.

What are you even talking about? It is coming back at the end of this month. Hardly anything to get pissed off over. There was a huge possibility that they were not even going to get to finish this season of the show, you ought to be thankful that you are not having to wait until 2009 for episode 9 and beyond. If you should be pissed off about anything, it should be the three episodes that we lost since they had to reduce the season from 16 to 13 episodes. The wait will be over before you know it, and if you look on the bright side, your Lost enjoyment for the year will seap over into June rather than be over by May.

Yeah, it would work if people are interested in participating. I'd do it. Doubt I could set any super high hard to break scores or anything, but I'd make an attempt. The one I am really good at (or was really good at) is the original SW arcade game, the one where you shoot transparent polygon Tie Fighters and blow up the Death Star.

Hmm, so is there no way to play the SEGA Star Wars Trilogy Arcade Game via emulation? That would be a really cool game to be able to play at home.

Ideas Wanted: How would you alter Star Trek 10? [Possible 56k warning // Images]
Time
Ah, B-4 was his name. Like I said, it has been a while since I have seen the film, I had forgotten how important he was to the plot. I don't know, as much as I think this film needs improving and would love to have an improved fan edit of it, I think it is kind of a lost cause.

To me it wasn't "prequel level" bad, but it does have its major problems, and unfortunately those all seem to be tightly woven to the plot. The prequels were easier to edit because there really wasn't much of a plot there. You could honestly remove the vast majority of one of the SW prequels and still keep the "plot" intact.

Star Trek 10 on the other hand, has a plot, kind of a lame and unimaginative plot, but a plot none the less. And the whole film revolves around this plot, which is what a film should do. I think the best that could be done would be to remove the little things that bug people and call it good from there. If there was a way to remove the Picard clone thing that would be kind of cool. I always cringe when Picard is looking at the picture of himself at the academy and it is a picture os Shinzon (sp?) in a SF uniform. Being a clone of Picard doesn't make him anything special really. I suppose this could be cut. It would also be cool to think of some way to make reference to Lore somehow. Not sure how, but there are seven season of TV show and three other movies worth of dialogue to rig something up with. Something along the lines of "I am not sure if this is a good idea, remember the last time we found one of data's brother." and Data rationalizing why Lore was bad and why the odds of this new one being evil are 32000000000000000000000 to 1 or something like that.

I am not really sure what you could do with the film. It has been a long time since I have seen it. I'm not so sure about the darkening, those shots really look washed out, it looks like The Lord of the Rings. I for one have never found the coloring of that film a problem in the slightest.

As for making the Viceroy blind, it is an interesting idea, but where are you going to go with it? If it is merely for aesthetic reasons with no in film explaination I am not sure if it will really improve anything. I think this is something many fan films aim for which causes them to ultimately fail.

I think the focus should be on tighening up the story. Kind of dumb I write all of this and yet offer nothing. Like I said I have not seen the film for a while, so I can't give any really good suggestions for changes.

I think the removal of the E-2 (that was his name right?) would be a good place to start. It just didn't fit. We already met Data's brother before in the TV series and it was done much better back then. I think it was pretty lame they found another one of Data's brothers without so much as a mention of Lore. That whole plot line ought to be removed starting with the stupid dune buggy scene.

The history of Star Wars games

I really like GameTrailers retrospectives, glad to see they are doing one on Star Wars.

That first SW arcade game is fun to play. I own all of the NES and SNES games, but I have never beat any of them. They are incredibly hard. I made it as far as the Tie Fighter battle while excaping the Death Star in Star Wars for the NES, I only made it there once after spending hours playing, after the great disappointment of dying I never made the attempt again. On Empire for the NES I never even managed to make it past the Rebel Base level. The SNES versions were even more frustrating.

The DOS/Win95 SW games were the absolute best though. Nothing beats games like the X-Wing series and Dark Forces. I even liked the Rebel Assult games, even thiough they often come under a great deal of criticism, I found them very enjoyable, some levels more than others though.

Legend of Zelda movie trailer

This confirms to me my feelings that a Zelda movie would be a bad idea. Also I think Link's goofy hat just doesn't translate well to real life. If a real attempt at a LoZ film were ever made, I would be a huge advocate of ditching the hat all together.

If you had access to any of the following anti-virus programs, which would you choose?
Time
I swear by the free version of AVG, it has served me well for years. I would imagine the pro version is just as good and better.

I have worked with computers with McAfee and Norton before and found them both very irritating, but that was back in the ninties, I suppose it is possible that they made improvements since then. I always judge my virus software by whether or not I can tell it is running, if it makes itself obvious then I don't want it, if it is doing its job behind the scenes without bother me, then I am happy with it. So far AVG has done a good job of working for me and keeping quiet about it.

How so? Even if there were people going to see it that hadn't yet seen the originals, there's still things he couldn't really do. He couldn't put Yoda or Obi-Wan in any real danger.

Hmm, I guess I didn't think about that part. I suppose that is exactly why characters like James Bond and Jack Bauer are never put in any real danger either...

Like I said, not everyone has seen the OT, it would be nice if he at least had writen it with that in mind instead of with the constant idea of "well, they already know what is going to happen." New people are born everyday, as time goes on more and more people will see the saga in order and see the whole series without a single surprise. The whole "I am your father" and "Leia is my sister!" plot twist have been effectively neutralized for future viewers. With a little creativity the PT could have been excellent and still preserved the OT's twists.

The whole "secret" of Sidious' identity was more of a nudge wink sort of thing. The guy never intended for the PT to have any surprises. Lucas obviously never considered the possibility that not every body in the world who was going to see TPM had already seen the OT. If he had approached the PT without the idea that everybody knows what is going to happen anyway, then no doubt it would have been a lot better. The whole "well they are obviously meant to be watched 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3" argument is retarded, if it had always been intended to be watched out of order then they would not be parts 1, 2, and 3 now would they? Lucas bunged the whole thing up, that is the only way to work it.
